Good thing though, they are going with the Arlovski vs a lower tier opponent to make it a test for both men, but mainly to spark interest in Singapore of all places. If it's a PPV, Ill wait for youtube to catch up
@laflux: @spambot: @ready_4_madness: @immadnice: @mikethekiller: Takes a man to know when he's wrong, but thanks for the input. I have changed Jon to be an elite but Mark my words, there will come light heavyweights and middleweights that will blow your minds.
@immadnice: I laugh when people judge without listening to reason.
@mikethekiller: So let's put it this way; Cody, Stipe, and Jon. All three are elite right? But Cody and Stipe finishes elite fighters while Jon decisioned OSP. So what's too hard to understand? Is he not a high level fighter? Does he not decision even OSP? So because of that, do you agree that the fighters who finish elites are better than the fighters who decision elites and guys like Ovince alike? If you do, then why not separate them?
How are you going to downplay the welterweight division? Give me a better fight than Robbie Lawler vs Rory 2 in DJ's division? I'll wait. And you're going to sleep on Donald Cerrone, Masvidal & Gunnar?
Let me ask you this could you possibly imagine DJ holding belts in two divisions? And can you Jon Jones doing the same?
I think you need to look around you. This is the year 2017. Rory is not there anymore.
And nope. Based on current performances, I cannot see Jon Jones holding the heavyweight belt.
@laflux: Yeah, those are all really good fighters. My bad, my standards for top level fighters are too high.
My way of thinking is that I love slug fests between bodybuilders or similar physiques, 5'7 but weighs 280 but when it comes to the top 5 in the UFC, I want every top 5 athlete to be a super athlete. Big, fast, young, explosive, naturally skilled in combat sports.
The reason I hate the middleweight division is because there is the most potential in that division. There is no one who fits the bill. Yoel is old and tiny, Luke has terrible boxing and fight IQ, Weidman got beat by those two, and Whittaker lost four times. Don't get me wrong, they are all powerful fighters who can easily defeat most human beings on the planet, but compared to the other divisions like light heavyweight (two 29 year olds, both above 6'4, one with an undefeated record the other high level offensive boxing), Heavyweight (super athletes in Stipe and Cain), they are just a bunch of normal athletes with huge gaps in their game, waiting for someone like Brock Lesnar or Jon Jones to raise the bar.
Derrick might've done well in the division before the Lesnar era, but now any top 5 fighter can destroy him, and his style might not be the best for Ben Rothwell as well. Ngannou is everything you said he was, just inexperienced, so.....I like prospects who can challenge the top 5.
This is a relatively young sport with plenty of potential ( I might even do my internship there) but when you look at this sport, then at other sports like soccer and football, there is clearly a difference (besides USADA)
UFC 206 sounded fun, it had two very powerful contenders in Misha Cirkunov and Ngannou whom both won their respective fights......but I was studying for my exams next week, I only watched Ngannou and round 1 of Derrick...
