Vai smirked and took another drink of her tea. "You really need a better supply of tea." She said, glancing at the cup with regret. She casually waved off his concern and shrugged. "I don't buy people, though I do hope you'll all stay on, you were just getting started. I have a lot on my plate, I don't have any interest in being involved in your day to day decisions, I'll support you, I'll provide facilities and if you need it, I'll provide financing but how you operate is up to you, just don't do anything that's going to make the word hero look bad."

She put the cup down on the counter. "To answer your first question, my name is Vai; I'm the daughter of Gale Xanders.

A stranger walked into the room. She didn't say anything at first, simply walked past their discussion to the refrigerator and opened it. She cocked her head slightly, examining the contents before shaking her head and shutting it again. She grabbed a cup from the rack, filled it with boiling hot water from the hot water faucet and retrieved a tea bag from one of the drawers. She dropped the bag into the cup, turned around to face them and leaned her ass back against the counter.

"Hi." She said with a smile. She blew on the tea a little and stirred it with the bag string. "I'm Vai. Your previous founder had some personal issues that came up, she had to bail to take care of them and sends her apologies." Vai reached into her belt and retrieved a letter which she set on the counter next to her. "I liked the idea behind the group, so I bought it." She said, as if money grew on mystical trees that she owned a farm of.

"I think the whole LA idea is a good one, a mobile team that moves from apartment complex to apartment complex, light on its feet, able to pick up and leave when it needs to, it's good thinking. I wouldn't leave this place entirely though, it has facilities you'll need from time to time, especially if someone like Sunshine over there were to get hurt."

She took a sip of her tea and apparently satisfied with it, she removed the bag and tossed it into the waste basket.

Jacob hesitated for the briefest of moments, calculating the probabilities of Amy giving away his identity if he revealed his alter ego to her in the future. For now, his public name would suffice. Minimal risk, in this case, was present, he decided. He finally spoke:"My name is Jacob Edmund Chase, owner of Chase Conglomerates in Chicago. I run a multi-billion dollar global private security enterprise. Speaking of business, perhaps my company and Willow Inc. could engage in a joint venture?" Establish a rapport, he thought, she would be an asset, especially with her abilities. After her reply and the concealed digital collection of her statistics via the tech in his staff, he finished his parlay with Amy, saying a kind farewell and moving into another throng of people, where he awaited their assessments and reactions to him, a captain of war and industry back in the eyes of the public elite. Alliances would be gained, and they would lead him to Sunderer. In fact, based on his deductions, this entire gala was a test, a barometer by the killer. Based on Jacob's similar lethal past background as one of the greatest black-ops assassins the world had ever known, he knew Sunderer's bloodlust well. It was like looking into a mirror. Where he became a dark hero, Sunderer went down an even darker path of no return. In fact, based on the methods of isolation of the guests in one locale and the methods of acquiring large sums of qualitative characteristics, he surmised the host was working for or with Sunderer. The killer would have buffers, so as not to draw immediate suspicion on himself. Still, he had to confirm his hypothesis. He calmly waited for Atticus and the others to finish their conversations, hyper aware of their every idiosyncrasy and proclivity. their data being stored for evaluation later on. Jacob wondered if they would have some recollection of him, even though he preferred to avoid the dalliances and galavanting of his compatriots. Tonight, however, it was necessary, he had an objective to fulfill. Finally, he addressed the circle of socialites and citizens with his reserved but wise and impressive intonation and presence,"It's been years since I've seen you all, but it seems that our echelon becomes more impressive by the day. Jacob Chase, at your service."

Vai smiled a bit, now having acquired a second vodka martini without the ill affects. Vodka's nice, but it's reputation for strength must be isolated to Humans. She took a sip while the newcomer spoke, her eyes looking him up and down. Hm...new male. She cocked her head slightly. Why does that name sound familiar? I can't place it though...ugh. I hope he doesn't know me, then it'll be really embarrassing when I tell him I have no earthly clue who he is. Vai stepped forward and offered her hand. "Vai" She said with a smile. "I'm here representing my mother, Gale Xanders, and Prehistoria Holdings Incorporated. She hates these things so I get to come and party while she sticks her head in more books at home...or whatever it is she's doing. Win for me." She said with a grin. "Your name's familiar somehow...but honestly I'm having trouble placing it, maybe from sometime before I got into all of this."

"Oh, so like genetic modification basically." Vai said with an understanding nod. "That stuff goes way over my head, but my mom's always got her head buried in the technicalities. I think I can say honestly that my mother would be interested in knowing more about what your company does. Maybe we can arrange a meeting later on, you know, when the partying dies down a little."

"Expansion is the name of the game." Vai said with a smile. "What kind of research do you do? We're always looking for new directions to focus on, new research to invest in." Prehistoria Holdings Incorporated specialized in genetic research but that was hardly it's only area of investment. Vai took a mental note of the girl's company information. I'll look it up later and see what else I can find. Trust but verify. While I'm doing that I can look into any connection they may have, accidentally or otherwise, with one particular group of people.

Vai took her hand firmly and smiled. "Vai, I'm here on behalf of my mother Gale Xanders who doesn't much like these events, I represent Prehistoria Holdings Incorporated as long as I'm here." She considered and then cocked her head slightly. "I'm sorry, I'm not familiar with Willow Incorporated, what does your company do? We probably just move in different circles, entertainment is a pretty closed group these days."

"Don't let the way he's looking at you get to your head." Vai told Amy when the dancing pair got near. "It's temporary, just lust driven by first sight." Vai smiled a downed the rest of her martini, she set the glass on the bar and slipped onto the dance floor with a serpent's grace. "You have a few moments to talk or would you like to finish this dance first?" Don't recognize someone at an event like this it means you've not been paying enough attention, they're new to the world of finance or they've stolen their way in. Since I know the first one isn't true, let's find out about the second two. When Miss Maverick over there is done pretending she's not picking the room apart with her eyes, I need to talk to her too.

Vai waited for Amy's reply, her eyes scanning the room briefly. Mother doesn't like coming to these because these people are so often fake, she hates the pretension and the air of false gratitude. She also knows if she doesn't go I will and that I'll find out any information worth knowing. That's the funny thing about these parties, you learn so much about the people in them and more importantly...about their agendas. Anyone here could be working for them...knowingly or otherwise.
