Comic Films that NEED to be Made

Films that I believe should be made or remade, and the way they should be handled.

List items

  • A Deadpool movie, done properly and given the respect he deserves, would be extremely entertaining, hilarious, action-packed, and maybe even moving. You would just have to ignore every aspect of how he was handled in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

  • Hank Pym is a wonderfully tragic and conflicted character. He's written with such drama and turmoil that his character could be taken in a more serious tone and done superbly. Or, and I'm presuming this is how Edgar Wright's proposed Ant-Man film would play out, it'd be more comedic and light, much akin to Iron Man; and it would be just as well received.

  • Talk about tragic characters, Silver Surfer's origins are sad and compelling. The story arc of his redemption and turning against Galactus would be fascinating see done properly (F4: Rise of the Silver Surfer honestly doesn't count), focusing mostly on the surfer. Or, if you wanted to have a truly moving film, focus on the story arc of Silver Surfer: Requiem.

  • Green Arrow, though I'm probably in the minority in thinking so, is fantastically written and handled with the right amount of humor and pathos. Given a lighthearted script, with a perfectly smarmy and charismatic lead, a Green Arrow film could be DC's Iron Man.

  • Another dark and gritty tale that was taken too lightly and turned into a hammy, overblown attempt to make cash. A remake is in order, without flashy effects, and given the grimy cinematography of a film like Gone Baby Gone, to truly give Hell's Kitchen the frightening atmosphere it deserves.

  • Now this isn't a character, but a rather dark and intriguing series that is compelling for so many reasons. Given to someone with a darker and more twisted sense, like David Fincher or Darren Aronofsky, and this could be a truly brilliant take on a cult classic.

  • Even the comic readers who aren't crazy about the butt-kicking Amazonian, should realize that her role in the Justice League is pretty crucial, let alone the Trinity, between her and Batman and Superman. The perfect director for a Wonder Woman film would be someone like Joss Whedon, who has helmed Buffy and Dollhouse, both replete with strong-willed and bad-ass female leads. With his humor and knack for dialog, Whedon might be the perfect fit for Wonder Woman.

  • And finally for something completely different...Iron Fist, who was handled expertly with the Immortal Iron Fist run, shows what an interesting and fascinating character he truly is. And unlike all of the other super-hero films, his would definitely stand out, being more in the vein of an Akira Kurosawa samurai opus. Just please, no gimmicky casting like Jet-Li or Jackie Chan...keep them far, far, far away from this property.
