all -- I am a former collector who occasionally gets pulled back in.
I am curious about the opinions of today's collector in regards to prices and quality of the books today.
A few things of note (really just rambles):
1 -- I almost had a heart attack when comic prices went from $0.75 to $1.00
2 -- While I love the slick look of the artwork, it is still only 1/2 of the reason I would plunk down money to buy a book. If paper/colors were the driving force for rising issue prices, would the current collector accept slightly cheaper paper/colors in order to collect more of the titles they were actually interested in?
3 -- It seems like almost everything is eventually compiled into a 'graphic novel' format a few months down the road. Why collect individual issues at all?
Prices seem out of line these days with other costs... I can eat a cheap fast food meal for 3.99/4.99 --- should a comic cost just as much?
I am really just curious -- not trying to start flames (I am well aware of the addictive tendancies of comics)
:)
