I'd say this would be a bigger issue if it wasn't young Iceman who was outed as being gay. Seriously, why make reveal the sexual orientation of a character who's at an age where a lot of people are confused about their sexual orientation. What's worse is that they revealed that the Iceman from another timeline is gay, not the younger version of the original Iceman. If she told the original Iceman he was gay, and he admits it, then it would have more impact.

@feartheliving: The gay Iceman isn't the past Iceman, he's Iceman from an alternate timeline that's identical to the main timeline.

So, does this mean Iceman is gay or is it just that version of Iceman that's gay? I'm wondering because both Beast and Colossus were gay in different alternate universes, so it's possible that either this is another case of a character having a gay version of themselves in an alternate universe or the past Iceman was gay and either overcame or repressed it as he got older, considering his present self isn't gay, or at least doesn't appear to be gay.

In my personal opinion, Striker doesn't seem like someone who would be gay, then again neither do Midnighter, Rictor, Wiccan, Hulkling, or Daken and they are all gay to some extent. He could be doing the same thing Kick-Ass did. If you remember the movie or comics, Kick-Ass pretended to be gay and even adopted a gay best friend persona to get close to a girl he liked. For all we know, Striker could have just said he was gay to get close to Julie Power.

Since the phoenix force is headed toward earth, I'm guessing that his full power will return either just before it arrives or right when it arrives. Personally, if I wrote the New Mutants comics I would have him keep his powers at their reduced level until the phoenix arrives on earth and then regain his full powers while fighting the phoenix by coming into contact with or feeding off of the psionic energy that makes up the phoenix. That could make sense because the phoenix gave Kid Omega back his physical form and cured Cable of the T-O virus, so it could theoretically give him back his powers.
