@severator: You could always make it so that they were one of the ancient races that sort of just disappeared. Like the Valyrians, and how Dany and her brother (can't remember his name) were some of the only trueborn Valyrians in, like, the world. You could even incorporate the Stone People into it.

@severator: Awesome post. I like the idea of one guy totally feeling like he should be a part of one house more than the one he was born into.

#5  Edited By Tristyn_Goldyne

@evelyn_onyx: @skjovald: ((AAAAH CV ate my post before I was even finished with it. Sorry for the long wait, the other post was significantly bad-assier.))

As Tristyn walked along the path leading up to the castle known as Bluesky, he felt the familiar presence of Skjovald arriving at his side. A small smile spread across the Goldyne's face as one of his most trusted officials was now here, by his side. The two had sparked a sort of unspoken bond between each other. Whether it was because he had actually purchased the Glaciertooth's services, or because they were the only two people in the caravan that had more wit than a wooden board, Tristyn could not be sure. However, they were both together now, and whether it was indentured servitude or actual friendship, he could hardly care. The point was that the Marked Man knew how to use a sword better than almost any other person on the Peak.

"Good acoustics, you say? Excellent. I may need to grace the Onyxs with my singing ability." His ever sultry tone tended to almost slur his words together- although there was an equally likely chance that the slurring of vocabulary was simply from his state of sobriety. Either way, the lack of annunciation led many to believe that Tristyn was unintelligent. These people also somehow managed to have their coin purses feel a little lighter every time they spoke to him. Sipping his chalice of wine, he watched as the gates opened up, revealing a personal escort led by none other than Evelyn Onyx herself.

On first glance, the daughter of Lord Flynn was nothing special. Merely a Northern lass, known more for brawn than beauty. However, Tristyn knew more than most people would that first glances were not to be trusted. Bowing his head cordially toward her, he smiled warmly and thanked the Seven that her rougher brother, Bear, was not there to greet him instead. "Lady Evelyn, it is a pleasure. If you would please escort us to a warmer area, our business would begin." He said warmly, giving off a nice and friendly atmosphere. The entire reason he had stopped at Bluesky on the way back down was because of his desire for ironwood... And House Onyx had a monopoly on the strange substance.

As they walked through the grounds of the castle, he couldn't help but notice how productive everyone seemed to be. Always working on something. Ironwood sculptors, Ironwood smiths, Ironwood ironwood ironwood... The trademark of the Onyxs certainly was their primary export. However, with the productivity of the soldiers, he could not help but to be reminded of Castle Black and the Brothers of the Night's Watch, who he had also met recently. Eventually arriving at the main hall of the keep, he entered nonchalantly and bowed deeply in the presence of Lord Flynn.

"Greetings, noble Lord Flynn of House Onyx. I would be honored to feast in your hall." Politely accepting the invitation to bread and salt, he took a seat after rising again. A ruler that didn't stand to greet his guests. Tristyn knew personally that some Houses would consider that a major insult, an escalation to war... Useless war. He forgave the minor offense, but still noted it nonetheless. "I have come to rest my small caravan for the night, and to make a trade with you." Licking his lips, he got ready to start bargaining for the second time during his run in the North. The first being the purchase of the Glaciertooth that stood beside him.
