"Apokolips Now" was bad writing, but hear me out. I'm not saying Superman shouldn't have won or anything (though as you all know how adamantly I oppose it), but Darkseid begged for quarter? Since when? He didn't beg against Yuga Khan, but Superman the boyscout scared him to death more than his planet-eating father? Darkseid's written like an idiot for thinking Superman would want the throne. Also, Darkseid makes the claim that he's never lost before, not even to Orion, and SUPERMAN DOESN'T BOTHER TO CORRECT HIM. WTF. Superman was there when Doomsday nearly killed Darkseid.

Plus the dialogue sucked.
