@masterjohn: Gandalf is a Maia, a lower powered Ainur, and was one of the Guardians of Middle earth. He (or any other Maia or Ainur, Aiwendiel(Radagast), Curinir (Saruman) Olorin(Gandalf) and Palando and Alatar who are the 5 wizards, can only be killed by Ainur or Maiar. In J.R.R Tolkien's Guide to Middle Earth, he says tat Ainur or Maiar can only be killed by they're own race. The Balrog was a Maia twisted by Melkor, the first dark lord. That is proof enough.

Gandalf and Saruman CURBSTOMP

Olórin (Gandalf), is a Maiar Spirit, who cannot use his full power on middle earth.But even without it Dumbledore could not beat him, because only a Maia can even harm a Maia.

Thor may be one of the most powerful hero there is, but unless we are talking about the re-booted Thor has little if anything on Thanos. Thanos has beaten people stronger, faster and more powerful than Thor.

Fail, Thor is always the strongest Hero in the Avengers. Especially if he is an amped version, such as RKT. Which could single handily defeat all versions of Super-Man, Hulk, & whoever you wish to include.
