Mace Windu Respect Thread (Canon)

No Caption Provided

Mace Windu is one of the leaders of the Jedi Council during the twilight of the Republic. He is one of the Order's greatest warriors and has devoted his life to protecting the Republic and the virtues of the Jedi. He became a General in the Clone Wars along with the other Jedi, but felt disturbed by their new role as soldiers instead of keepers of the peace. He met his end on Coruscant when he and three other Jedi attempted to arrest Supreme Chancellor Palpatine under the impression that he was the second Sith Lord they had been looking for since the events of Episode I The Phantom Menace.

The Jedi arrived in Palpatine's office, lightsabers drawn, to find the Chancellor benignly calm, making no attempt to escape. As Mace Windu announced that Palpatine was to be arrested, with the Senate deciding his ultimate punishment, all pretence was dropped. Like a conjurer, the Sith Lord produced a lightsaber from the sleeve of his robe, and, with a snarl of rage, leapt to attack with inhuman agility.

Their lightsabers clashed in a furious rain of blows as Windu fought for control of the duel. Finally managing to gain the upper hand, he drove his opponent into a corner, disarming him.

At that moment, Anakin Skywalker arrived. Sidious looked pitifully towards him, an exhausted, defeated figure. As Windu forced his lightsaber blade closer, Sidious retaliated with Sith lightning, his features withering and twisting into a mask of pure evil. To save his friend, Anakin slashed off Windu's hand.
