Izuru Kira Respect Thread [Work-in-progress]

"Oh. That's right. You performed some kind of screaming ritual before we fought. Maybe you think that's a proper way for a warrior to conduct himself, but that's incomprehensible to me. Third Company's flower is a Kinsenka, the Marigold. It symbolizes despair. It's also the symbol of our confidence and pride. Fighting isn't heroic. It's not meant to be exhilarating. Violence should only bring despair. It's dark and terrifying. It must remain gruesome, otherwise people won't fear it and try to avoid it."

"To my mind, Wabisuke of all the zanpaku-to, best exemplifies Third Company's philosophy. It increases the weight of whatever it cuts. Those who are cut by it are forced to crawl, unable to bear their own weight. And they always bow their heads as if asking for forgiveness. That's why it's called Wabisuke (Apology). You asked what I intended to cut with this silly-looking blade. A warrior should never beg for his life." (Ch. 323

(Ch. 105) In Bleach, a battle between two people is a battle of spiritual power. If one opponent's spiritual power isn't strong enough, they can't even cut a stronger opponent. This is displayed and described by Kenpachi Zaraki when he let's Ichigo Kurosaki get in a free cut during their fight. Ichigo swings as hard as he can but doesn't scratch Kenny and even his hands start to bleed:

(Ch. 187) Although a Soul Reaper's zanpaku-to and spiritual power and directly related, meaning the bigger the zanpaku-to the more spiritual power, Captain-class Soul Reapers know how to hone their blades down to manageable sizes, otherwise they'd be swinging around swords the size of buildings:

Zanpaku-To

Shikai

(Ch. 120) All zanpaku-to have two releases, shikai and bankai. Shikai is the first release and occurs when a Soul Reaper calls out their sword's name and along with bankai, needs to be mastered in order to become a Captain:

(Ch. 127) The essence of Shikai is to communicate and synchronize with your zanpaku-to:

(Ch. 168/169) Izuru's zanpaku-to is named Wabisuke and he activates it by saying the phrase "Show yourself". His blade doesn't do anything too crazy but just changes shape to look like a hook that curls inwards towards Izuru:

(Ch. 323) Izuru says Wabisuke is named so because it perfectly exemplifies Third Company's philosophy:

(Ch. 169) Wabisuke's special ability is that it can double the weight of whatever is strikes. One hit doubles the target's weight, another one doubles that weight, and so on and so forth. When he was fighting against Rangiku Matsumoto, she blocked the blade seven times and her sword increased enough to where she couldn't hold it up anymore:

(Ch. 323) Izuru cuts Abirama Redder's wings four times and makes them heavier than lead, forcing the Fracciones to fall through most of a building:

Kido

Kido are spells in the Bleach verse and can be used regardless of a Soul Reaper's zanpaku-to abilities. It's basically the magic of the verse.
