First instinct is Folded Man but honestly I just hate Top. Like it's already been stated it depends on if Top's TP would be effective.

Wasn't he killed by the galaxy level explosion? His life reading was negative before the Manhunters brought him back to life.

It's a strange circumstance -- Henshaw isn't a machine, merely a consciousness that can inhabit machines. I don't see how the Manhunters restarting the machine or doing anything from a technical stand-point would've truly brought him back to life.

Feels more like he was KO'd and not killed.

Cerberus: Amalgam Introduction

Let's get right to it -- given that I've chosen 3 powerhouse characters and combined them via the FUSION PERK I've gone ahead and affectionately named my creation Cerberus. The build itself was designed to maximize versatility and offensive output while covering the respective weaknesses of each character and I'm quite proud with the end result.

If I must say, I'm glad I finally have an opponent willing to post given that I've made it to round three without having to actually debate anything. I'm looking forward to proving the power of my fusion against your own.

While I believe my characters are well known I'll do a brief introduction for each so we see what they bring to the table.

[ CYBORG SUPERMAN: TECHNOLOGICAL TERROR ]

No Caption Provided

Hank Henshaw is the Cyborg Superman -- a being fueled by hate with a masterful control of technology. Having originally built a body using Kryptonian Technologies and Superman's DNA he has all of Superman's physical attributes and abilities.

He has proven time and time again that he is impossibly difficult to kill, in fact, he was suicidal for quite some time but just couldn't manage to die, no matter how hard he tried. His legacy in the DC universe has seen him as a constant foe of Superman and as a team-buster capable of taking on the entirety of the Green Lantern Corps.

[ POWERS & ABILITIES ]

  • Kryptonian Physiology - As mentioned earlier he has physical attributes & superhuman abilities identical to Superman.
  • Technopathy - Can manipulate any and all technologies for whatever purpose he sees fit.
  • Green Lantern Rings - During his conflict with the GLC he obtained several Green Lantern Rings; wearing at least five of them on his right hand. He displayed mastery over the Power Rings and was able to contend with the Guardians despite having no formal training or experience with such a weapon.

[ PURPOSE ]

He grants the amalgamation a total control of technology, high tier team-busting physical stats, Superman's powers, and immense versatility in the form of the Green Lantern Rings.

[ MORDRU: LORD OF CHAOS; MASTER OF MAGIC ]

No Caption Provided

Mordru is an entity of evil; one of the most prominent Lords of Chaos to exist in the DCU. It's stated that he's been around since before the big bang and will continue to exist long after the destruction of the universe; he was never born and thus, will never die. His primary goal is to defeat the Lords of Order and to claim what he believes is rightfully his, the rule of the universe.

His legacy has seen him as an enemy of the Justice League, the Justice Society, and the Legion of Super-Heroes, and against them, he has demonstrated his mastery of the mystical arts, serving as a seemingly unstoppable team-buster.

[ POWERS & ABILITIES ]

  • Magic - As a Lord of Chaos he has mastery over the realm of magic and can perform a variety of different spells that allow him to effortless manipulate energies, teleport, generate force fields, transmute all forms of matter, and much, much, more.

[ PURPOSE ]

He grants the amalgamation a total command of magic which provides tons of versatility and the ability to overcome a gauntlet of what some may consider to be 'hax' abilities.

[ JEAN GREY: PHOENIX RISING ]

No Caption Provided

The final member of my team -- Jean Grey. A member of the X-Men who has a complicated relationship with a cosmic entity known as the Phoenix Force, Jean Grey has not had an easy time of it. Her primary abilities grant her a command over the psionic realm with Jean possessing a high degree of telepathy and telekinesis.

Jean has proven over the years that her status as an Omega Mutant isn't just a title; and as one of Marvel's supreme telepaths she is a force to be reckoned with.

[ POWERS & ABILITIES ]

  • Telekinesis - Jean has the ability to utilize telekinesis to produce a variety of effects such as generating shields, emitting energy blasts, and can manipulate objects on a molecular level.
  • Telepathy - Jean is also a highly skilled telepath who can read and manipulate minds while defending her own.

[ PURPOSE ]

She grants the amalgamation a powerful control over psionic forces. Jean's mastery of telepathy and telekinesis combined with Mordru's magical command of the same realm make the amalgamation resistant to mental attacks whilst allowing it to mentally dominate foes of a lesser mental power.

What's great about Jean is she provided some much needed versatility for a mere 2 points.

Perks

Before I get too deep into my strategies I'd like to quickly go over my perks for this tournament.

  • 1 Hour Prep - I have an hour of prep on the battlefield; thankfully I don't need to do anything fancy or acquire any non-standard equipment to make my amalgamation a threat to most, if not all teams in the tournament.
  • Basic Knowledge - With basic knowledge on my foes I have a general idea of their histories, their strengths, their weaknesses, all of the vital information so that I'm never going into a fight blind.
  • Character Fusion - My three characters have been fused into one; obviously.
  • Adamantium Weapons - I've got an Adamantium Sword, simple really.

With this combination of perks (and my character/s) I should be able to realize my strategy with ease and create a scenario in which victory is guaranteed for the CERBERUS.

Capabilities

Before I go over what my plan is I'll demonstrate the capabilities of my characters and provide some vital information into WHY my prep isn't beyond the realm of logical possibility.

There will be several categories here:

  • PHYSICAL - The physical strength, speed, and durability of my amalgamation.
  • TECHNOLOGICAL - The technological strengths of my amalgamation.
  • MYSTICAL - The magical attributes of my amalgamation.
  • PSYCHIC - The psychic (telekinesis/telepathy) capabilities of my amalgamation.

Let's get into it!

PHYSICAL CAPABILITIES - STRENGTH

It's very unlikely that we'll spend much time here as your entire argument ignores physical capabilities, favoring the more esoteric and exotic abilities of your team.

Regardless, it's good to establish a baseline for these attributes.

With my fusion the majority of my physical strength comes from the likes of Cyborg Superman. He has the physical attributes of Superman that have been enhanced by the multiple Green Lantern Rings he wears.

Without the rings CS is capable of overpowering multiple high tier characters in a physical brawl, shown here when he took down Eradicator, Steel, Superboy and Supergirl with ease.

This strength is bolstered with his rings, as we saw that when CS was a member of the Sinestro Corps he was able to absolutely ragdoll Superman.

My fusion should easily be able to hold it's own against your team/fusion in a physical match, but like I mentioned earlier, this likely won't be a major focus point of the debate.

PHYSICAL CAPABILITIES - SPEED

My speed is a similar situation -- Mordru was able to react to an attempt blitz by Jay Garrick & Wonder Woman, teleporting the two away before they could get close to him.

No Caption Provided

As you can see Mordru dealt with them with a sample wave of his hand, dumping them into a world where physics didn't apply. Jay would've had to cover ground that literally extended forever and a day.

With Cyborg Superman being Superman's exact genetic duplicate he can emulate any of Superman's speed feats -- so he's well within the realm of light-speed, which is then bolstered by his Lantern Rings.

I don't think speed will be an issue for either of our characters, and again, we likely won't be spending much time on this argument.

PHYSICAL CAPABILITIES - DURABILITY

This is where things start to get interesting.

Cyborg Superman went through a black hole completely unscathed.

No Caption Provided

This is a decent baseline for CS, but it gets better. Like you and most others probably know, Henshaw isn't simply a physical being, he's an energy being, this makes it seemingly impossible to kill him.

At one point he became suicidal -- he WANTED to die, and in an attempt to accomplish this he willingly exposed himself to an explosion that the GLC stated was capable of wiping out the entire Milky Way Galaxy.

Unfortunately, he survived this. His body was torn apart, but his consciousness survived.

Again -- this was a Cyborg Superman who was willingly exposing himself to danger in an attempt to die.

Now, combining the durability of Cyborg Superman with that of Mordru is where things get even trickier, for Mordru is an anomaly.

It was mentioned in the introduction that Mordru's timeline has no beginning, nor end. He was never born, nor will he ever die. This was stated by Hourman when he tried to devolve Mordru with his time-vision.

No Caption Provided

Furthermore it's been stated that Mordru will continue to exist after the universe and time itself ends. Now, there is a catch. He is one of the Lords of Chaos, which means he's a corporeal entity. Similar to the Lords of Order (think Dr. Fate) he needs mass to focus his magic. Thankfully, with Cyborg Superman being able to constantly provide this mass (and with the mass in our battlefield regenerating every 5 seconds after being destroyed) this won't be a problem.

With these two beings combined, both Cyborg Superman and Mordru, it will likely be impossible for your team to ever actually rid of my fusion, especially with the tools at your disposal.

TECHNOLOGICAL CAPABILITIES

This section of my fusion comes completely from Cyborg Superman as his technopathy is some of DC's best.

BODY CREATION & SELF REPLICATION:

First off all Cyborg Superman can easily create new bodies out of any technology. This ability is best shown when he built a body out of children's toys in mere seconds that was able to go toe to toe with Superman.

He's also been shown to have manipulated DC's Source Wall and he took control of the entire Tribunal Planet. This shows I can easily mimic any planet-takeover strategy as long as there's technology on the planet.

Henshaw can also merge his technology with organic beings to create techno-organic beings, which also grants him access to their knowledge.

In short -- he's like a virus. He can manipulate any and all technology to his will, regardless of the origins of said technology, and cause bond that technology to living beings to possess them in a sense.

Given that the planet we're fighting on (or begin on) has technology on it and that the planet will re-form 5 seconds after being destroyed means that I have a seemingly endless supply of physical bodies to channel Mordru's magic through.

WEAPON GENERATION

Another great aspect of Cyborg Superman's power-set is his ability to adapt mid-combat to any situation.

While in his toy-body he fought Superman Blue (Superman in an energy form) and was able to lock on to his bio-signature. This allowed Henshaw to re-calibrate his heat-vision so that it'd harm Superman Blue even in this energy form. This ability should prove incredibly useful against your team, allowing my fusion to harm you regardless of your state.

To further drive this point home, Henshaw has openly admitted that he can adapt his mechanical body into a weapon suited to fight against different foes.

No Caption Provided

This means that even if you change your form or think that you've become some invulnerable type of energy that Henshaw should be able to simply adapt and create a new weapon suited to harming you.

GREEN LANTERN RING USAGE

I've also got several Green Lantern Rings at my disposal.

While Henshaw has never been formally trained with any sort of power ring he's been able to efficiently wield both Green and Yellow rings without any problems, even using them to overpower various experienced lanterns such as Hal Jordan and Guy Gardner.

This is likely due to the nature of the rings being somewhat technological, thus putting them under Henshaw's jurisdiction for technological manipulation.

Given that Henshaw didn't use the rings for much more than raw power I might be using scans from other Green Lanterns to establish what the ring can do if needed.

MYSTICAL CAPABILITIES

This section of my fusion comes completely from Mordru. As the most prominent Lord of Chaos he's incredible well-versed in the mystical arts.

ENERGY MANIPULATION - DRAINING

Mordru is very capable of passively draining multiple targets of their energies, be them scientific or magical. He demonstrated this against the JSA when he cast the 'SPELL OF ONYXHUNGER' which absorbs the power of a combatant while combat rages.

He did this to siphon powers from Fate mid-battle to increase his strength.

No Caption Provided

Simply casting a spell of this nature will allow him to continuously drain his foes while increasing his own strength, something that should prove fatal against a team composition such as your own.

He's also effortlessly removed the Starheart from Alan Scott and was able to take away all the powers of the Legion of Superheroes.

I've got even more draining feats if needed but this should suffice for now.

ENERGY MANIPULATION - PROJECTION

Mordru is also able to offensively apply his energy projection to produce devastating effects.

One such application of this force is when he blew up the planet Skylar which had a population of four billion souls.

No Caption Provided

So planet-busting is very much within his capabilities.

On a smaller scale he's casually able to destroy constructs created by Alan Scott.

Combining Mordru's energy projection abilities with Cyborg Superman's ability to lock-on to different energy signatures we should be able to harm solar with our blasts, regardless of him being an energy being.

FORCE FIELDS

Mordru is also capable of creating invisible fields that protect him from various attacks. My favorite showing of this is him blocking a blow from Hawkman's mace via one of his fields.

This is interesting because Hawk Man's mace is made of Nth Metal which has the ability to negate magic to some degree.

MATTER MANIPULATION

Mordru also has the ability to manipulate matter to produce a variety of different effects:

So any sort of size manipulation or transmutation you attempt on me can be easily undone via my own magical prowess.

ASTRAL PROJECTION

Mordru is also capable of harnessing intangibility via his astral form. While weakened he was able to send the hands of his astral form back in time to capture the JSA & JLA. This is noteworthy since he was able to fight against folks such as Alan Scott, Doctor Fate, Hal Jordan, and Superman with his a pair of Astral Hands AND he was weakened.

This also demonstrates his ability to move through time and space without issue.

MISC.

Mordru has more magical abilities but I'm not going to turn this into a respect thread. I think I've mentioned anything worth mentioning for this debate, but may bring up additional, more specific feats if needed.

PSYCHIC CAPABILITIES

Not going to touch on this really -- you shouldn't be able to telepathically overpower Jean or Mordru with the characters you chose and I'm not going to be attacking you via telepathy because of your perk.

It's why Jean has taken a bit of a back seat in this fight.

My Prep

So you've gotten the basics of my characters capabilities but now it's time to realistically apply these abilities.

We've both got battlefield prep so how will I use mine?

Part 1 - Backup Bodies

The first and most logical step here is to use the technology on the planet to build an entire army of backup bodies for my fusion to use should, for some reason, their original body become compromised.

These bodies can be created out of the most basic of technology (as we saw with the toy-scan earlier) and take a few seconds to form -- it's no leap of logic to assume that I could easily build an army to match yours.

They will have the physical attributes and abilities of Cyborg Superman and can all partake in the fight simultaneously -- as Cyborg Superman was able to control 1 billion sentient robots with slight difficulty; an army of non-sentient robots should be MUCH easier to manipulate.

Part 2 - Weakness Destruction

Mordru has one incredibly stupid weakness -- he can't use his magic if he's buried alive or is contained in an airless vault, the only explanation it's been given is that it might be psychosomatic in nature.

As such, using Jean's abilities, we'll be removing that limitation from his mind. Jean provided a similar service for Nezho when she removed a pain trigger so it wouldn't hurt whenever he used his abilities.

Now this is simply being done to cover all my bases. Given that I also have Cyborg Superman's ability to simply body-jump and create new technological bodies at will there shouldn't be any situation where you can actually bury my fusion alive with complete airlessness. A variety of force fields will also be activated (lantern rings, telekinesis, magic) and my main body will become intangible.

Part 3 - Army Summoning

Mordru will summon his army from the 30th Century and will have them all fused with Cyborg Superman's technological might (like we saw earlier when CS fused with an organic being) thus improving their physicals and connecting them to the hive-mind.

Part 4 - The Spell of Onyx Hunger

As mentioned earlier Mordru can cast this spell to continuously drain his foes while simultaneously improving his own power.

Given that we know your team has a rather powerful energy being it'd be stupid of us not to cast this spell and thus begins the draining argument.

I don't believe anything you've shown for Solar thus far shows him countering or draining magic on Mordru's scale -- he's very good at draining naturally occurring energies, or energies based in science, but you've not got a magic user on your team capable of going toe to toe with Mordru.

In fact, Swamp Thing and the other members of Justice League Dark needed Mordru's help to prevent their own magic from being taken from them by the Lords of Order and the Otherkind.

No Caption Provided

As we see in the scan above the Lords of Order basically gave all of DC's magic users an ultimatum. You can give up all your magic abilities and your memories and live OR you can die.

Originally they'd have had no chance -- we saw John Constantine and Swamp Thing try to defeat Nabu by summoning the Phantom Stranger but Nabu simply contained him in the Helm of Fate, choosing to then take John Constantine who sacrificed himself so that Swamp Thing could flee and warn the others.

Meanwhile, Zatanna and Wonder Woman were instructed to find Mordru. When they do this Mordru explains the differences between Chaos and Order.

No Caption Provided

Wonder Woman then starts getting pissed -- if Mordru can so easily defeat the forces they're up against then why doesn't he simply just do it?

His answer: He doesn't want to.

No Caption Provided

Instead Mordru opts to lend some of his power to them so that they can deal with it.

No Caption Provided

He imparts some of his power into that ruby and gives it to Zatanna and Wonder Woman so that they can stand their ground against the Lords of Order to protect their ownership of magic.

It's worth noting that Mordru gives them enough power to rip the universe in half and then walks off like it's nothing.

This ruby gives power to several different individuals -- Zatanna, Wonder Woman, Detective Chimp, Man Bat, and Swamp Thing.

With a fraction of Mordru's power split between them they're finally able to actually fight back against the Lords of Order. Man Bat is able to see the magic underneath everything -- the rules that guide EVERYTHING -- and then Zatanna instructs him to BREAK THOSE RULES. We even see Detective Chimp use his sword to cut through magic because he simply decided that it could.

No Caption Provided

In short -- they became REALLY freaking powerful. Detective Chimp was able to cut off the source of magic for the Lords of Order and it was told that they tore magic apart with the ruby and Mordru's power.

SO why does this matter, why did I just go on this huge tangent?

To explain why I think Mordru is the far superior magic user over Swamp Thing. He was able to lend a fraction of his power to several magic users in the DCU (including Swamp Thing, who you've shown is very power) so that they could overcome a force that would've taken all magic from them if unaided.

Because of this -- nobody on your roster should be able to contest Mordru's magic.

To add to the strength of his draining abilities we've also got Cyborg Superman who can effortless adapt to situations and create weapons designed to target his foes weaknesses.

The robotic army I've created can work alongside one another to continue draining your team to oblivion, all while powering Mordru up since the Spell of Onyx Hunger will be on-going.

If it's a draining fight you want, it's a draining fight you'll get, and Mordru's magic is going to be far too much for your team to content with, even with how versatile you've shown Swamp Thing & Solar to be.

The Battle

Once this battle starts you're instantly going to try and drain me -- which won't work. Nothing you've shown leads me to believe that Mordru nor Cyborg Superman can't deal with Solar's draining and I firmly believe that Mordru's magic is the nail in your coffin.

We're both "unkillable" in the parameters of this battle so it comes down to draining the other of their abiltiies.

You've also talked about how Solar can de-power folks by removing their abilities, but in your example you showed Solar removing power that he had lent to someone else, which isn't nearly as impressive as Mordru de-powering the entirety of the LOS with one of his spells.

Manipulating my team via bacteria is useless since we're all robotic in nature, Mordru also has completely molecular control of his own body and was able to completely resist transmutation from Element Lad, as seen below.

No Caption Provided

In fact, a couple issues later, we see that Element Lad couldn't control his powers after his engagement with Mordru -- it backfired HORRIBLY on him.

No Caption Provided

You can try and bombard us with energy attacks but the combined strength of our innate resistance to energy attacks and force fields that can be provided via lantern rings, magic, or telekinesis, I don't see that having much of an impact at all.

Mordru's ability to move through time and space should also allow us to find you if you plan on moving somewhere outside the timeline -- he's done it before and he can easily do it again, hiding from my team is just prolonging the inevitable since you can't actually do anything to us.

In conclusion, I think your plan backfired horribly. Lesser teams might've succumbed to your assault but I very much believe that my team has the versatility and strength to overcome all of your attacks.

Mordru's only been bested by BFR or from people taking advantage of a weakness that Cyborg Superman and Jean can both eliminate.

I look forward to your response and to actually getting into some counters for this debate, but I don't like countering much in my first post/opener -- it feels unfair to target too much of what you said so early on.

Good luck!

A Little Bit of Shopping

Following the heist led by Quinlan and pals Medusa found herself at a loss.

MEDUSA: Look what those goons did to my guitar!

At her feet a guitar lay in pieces, destroyed by the passionate crowd that she had previously entertained.

STYX: That is very punk of them, is it not?

MEDUSA: It is, but it was MY GUITAR. If anyone was going to smash it up it should've been me!

STYX opened his mouth and 'TAPS' began to play. Using a strand of her hair Medusa then ignited the wooden scraps piled before her.

MEDUSA: Godspeed, Cheryl, I loved you well.

STYX: Cheryl?

MEDUSA: It's the only name that came into my head, okay?!

The two of them stood there, mourning for her loss, until suddenly....

MEDUSA: Well, best go get a new one, eh?

STYX: Are you finished with the mourning process?

MEDUSA: Course I am, besides, we've got so much Genny stored up from that Lizard slaughter we did!

And with that the two headed off to the marketplace. When they arrived they saw an assortment of different defensive wear, blasters, magical mixes and brews, but only one thing caught Medusa's eye....

MEDUSA: I WANT THAT.

She pointed towards an Axe mounted on a wall, beneath it, a small plate read: THE DEVOURER

...it sounded METAL.

MEDUSA: How much for the axe?

The shopkeep turned and looked at her.

SHOPKEEP: Which one?

MEDUSA: That one! The one on the wall with the strings and the blade and the DEVOURING!

SHOPKEEP: 600 Genny, take it or leave it.

Without a second thought she threw the Genny at the merchant (along with a 200 Genny off coupon) and with her hair removed the Axe from the wall, an axe that doubled as an axe. Wicked.

Admiring her new toy her and Styx wandered over to a nearby mission board to see what work was around while also looking to see if any new Merc's had wandered into town -- she needed a band.

OOC: Won a coupon for 125 Genny in an auction, used the Coupon and some Genny to purchase The Devourer Axe, a bargain at only 400 Genny (thanks, Coupon!) which left her with 525 Genny to spare -- she THEN meets Acest the Bassest (in Discord RP) and adds him to the roster for 450 Genny, leaving her with a WHOPPING 75 Genny.

EDIT: She'll also be signing up for the Tullis II mission. Styx and Acest will be headed to the Survival in the Shifting Sands mission.

@thetruebarryallen: Do you get everything the Mark Provides?

I'm under the impression that I get what Emily Kaldwin was able to do.

  • Shadow Walk - Limited (30 second) shadow form, harder to spot, can move through small cracks.
  • Mesmerize - Quick distraction -- makes people forget they saw me/clouds memory.
  • Far Reach - Mobility -- can anchor onto a point or thing and move to it or move it to me (limited TK basically).
  • Doppleganger - Version of myself -- last 30 seconds.
  • Domino - Can link fates -- what happens to one target happens to another. Doesn't work on people or things stronger than me. Also discussed adding a rolling mechanic so it's possible for the link to fail -- critical failure (1) hurts me instead.

I'm certainly willing to limit it if needed or if other people think so, but given the gameplay limitations/time limits I think it's within the class limits.

No Dark vision though since it breaks the sensory limits of the class.

How often can you use these abilities?

@solidcenturion is right that I would normally put something like this at a pick 2. But if the abilities are limited to 1 use per combat and you don't get things like weapon summoning or the HF stoppers on top of these, then this should be allowable.

Heavy versatility is fine as long as it comes with limited usages. For example, my first round pick gives me a lot of abilities; but the vast majority of them pull from the same pool, and I can use them collectively 6 times per mission.

Thanks for reading,

Floopay

Yeah -- I don't get any weapon summoning or HF stoppers, and as DMW explained above the amount of times I can use these abilities in a combat scenario are quite limited. In-game would translate to maybe once or twice a major conflict before needing a long-rest to reset them.

@thetruebarryallen:

(Totally continuing this as a conversation and not a way to bump the thread more)

Reaper has some functional intangibility from what I remember in the cinematic.

His Shadow Form is probably more useful, I'll give you that. He can also Generate Fire Arms that fire bullets that hinder healing factors. But I still feel like Mark Users have a bunch of side abilites that Reaper doesn't tha balances that out. Not that it matters all to much for me anyways considering I already used my 1 Point Empowered and feel doing Specialist wouldn't be a wise investment

Yeah -- I think the fact that most of my abilities have time limits on them (Shadow Form being 30 seconds, same with Doppelganger, and with my Domino being resistible by stronger targets AND the roll mechanic) that potentially lessens the impact.

Didn't realize his bullets hindered healing factors though! Guess I need to pay more attention to OW lore.
