Correct that Quasar has actually used BFR as a combat technique against foes that he was otherwise unable to quickly overcome. In fact one very notable combatant was the Imperial guardsman Neutron who was a superstrong, energy absorbing alien that Quasar had a very tough time against. He did ending up using BFR against him. In some ways Captain Atom is like a more powerful version of Neutron.

@static_shock: @giliad_: Thanks! I recall some of the highlights of that series so i agree that it would probably be safe to say that although his control at moderating & regulating his energy intake was increasing, he was still capable of quantum-jumping once the absorption rate increased past his particular "trigger point", so that would mean that he never fully overcame the limitation. I think that, perhaps in many of his later appearances he opted to simply resist fully absorbing the energy and instead just resist it using his invulnerability, although if there were bystanders and innocents around then he might have felt compelled to do whatever he could to protect them.

The Doomsday pic isn't visible anymore. If this is Death of Superman DD, Hercules has a shot with prep. He loses to the other versions.

Agreed. Hercules is underrated, and has great stamina and was reknowned for fighting monsters to the death in his earlier career.

Post-Crisis Captain Atom actually preceded Quasar, and Energy absorption is actually one of his primary abilities. Theoretically, he had no upper limit and only had the limitation that he would spontaneously "quantum jump" thru time if he absorbed too much energy too fast. However, as he gained greater control over this quirk he eventually overcame this limitation. His body is linked to the Quantum Field and therefore has unlimited Quantum potential. He can't be drained by Quasar, either.

Absolutely! Must watch the original dubbed Japanese Manga in context to truly understand the thought processes, story finer point details, and the story line actual intent. IMHO, the manga lost some of the focus because of the English overdub & translation rewrites. The original overdub is fairly faithful, but the Kai overdub changes a lot of the original storyline plot and meaning in spots. It may make it more palatable for an American audience, though.

I can relate to Piccolo, because he grew up being the "Ultimate Outsider". When he finally realized what he had after he gained Gohan's trust, he was willing to die without any hesitation for the sake of his one true friend. Best death scene in DBZ!

In this match-up Blue Marvel's best advantage is actually his brain, since he is also a scientist. But since the op showed N52 Captain Atom, it would still be Captain Atom 9/10.

But if it were pre-Wildstorm Captain Atom, it would drop to about 7/10 in favor of Captain Atom, so Blue Marvel might take an occasional round here.

@vineman52: not to digress from the topic, but that scan of "pineapple Thing" was from FF #320, and it is the one time that Ben completely beat the Hulk (albeit the Grey Hulk) in a knock-down, drag out fight. The grey Hulk was out cold after that for quite a while before he recovered. Should have posted the next few panels.
