Dragon Ball: Yo! Son Goku and His Friends Return!! Review 0

You forgot this existed didn’t you? The Return of Son Goku and Friends is a short film special, roughly thirty-three minutes in length. Though an exciting watch, it doesn’t offer an improvement on the series. It falls into the Dragon Ball’ bracket of unpopular movies that are wholly forgettable, right next to Bio-Broly and A Hero’s Legacy. I honestly doubt the audience majority remembers it. It doesn’t have any standout qualities and its significance is trivial. And...

Transformers: Age of Extinction Review 0

Age of Extinction is the fourth installment in the Transformers series and the first of a new trilogy. The standard for Transformer movies already has a reputation for being low. This movie is no exception, in fact it may be the worst Transformers movie to date. It continues the themes of mind-numbing explosions, shameless product placement, and objectification of female cast members. And to top it off, this movie is roughly two hours and forty minutes long. The audience knows these films don&rs...

Dragon Ball GT: A Hero’s Legacy 1

Goku Jr embraces his heritageA Hero’s Legacy is a unique selection from the Dragon Ball movie chronology. It differs from its brothers in that it isn’t centred on epic battles or grandiose villains but rather a heartfelt story about courage and privation. But it is lacking, and as a result, is unnecessary and forg...

Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection F Review 0

Frieza is back for revengeResurrection F is the next instalment in the Dragon Ball Z movie series. Toriyama continues to refresh his franchise, but takes a nostalgic turn as he reintroduces an old enemy: Frieza. His passion for the character is something the audience can empathise with and acts as a great hook for them. This is especially true when you consider the effect the character has had on the series. The downside is that this movie is just that, a nostalgic trip, and the villain therefor...

Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods Review 0

Goku is about to enter a new level of powerIf you’re a fan of Dragon Ball Z then you will probably be familiar with its formulaic narrative: a new form (or fusion) is often the answer to an overpowering enemy. There is a brief moment of self-awareness when the movie acknowledges this as it recounts the victories of Goku. This movie delivers us that formula, but with a take that is both fresh and unique. Battle of Gods reignites the franchise. It is an exciting and light-hearted movie, and...
