@fullmetalemprah Sadly I don't really know that much about Noctis either, but from what I gather about Joker, everything you put up is very true. It is also something that people do seem to forget. The fact that Yaldabaoth is not a god. Anyways to make this fight more clear, and since I'm awful at doing feat calculations and only base it off of my own personal knowledge of the game, here are some links to the following battle pages for Luminary, Noctis, and Joker.

@fullmetalemprah: Here is a general rundown on the Luminary.

He is the reincarnation of the original Luminary named Erdwin, who was created by the Yggdragon in order to defeat the demon god Calasmos but was betrayed in his mission, thus he was reincarnated into the character you see before you. He killed the demon god Calasmos, who originally killed the Yggdragon (the creator of the world of DQ11). What's more, Calasmos is so huge he had to be contained in a pocket universe. He is also the only character in this versus match up that saved the world twice in one game as far as I recall.

The Luminary is capable of using the Quadraslash which is said to cut down four dimensions, use several healing spells and offensive spells, as well as several unique sword techniques.

As for the other characters. Noctis has everything and so does Joker.

In every JRPG franchise, there are characters that are chosen to set their world right, and there are those that are arguably messiahs. Whether you are a reincarnation of a legendary hero, someone who was gifted with the personification of death or being chosen as a vessel for a corrupt god. Who wins?

I'm a Superman fan. I'm a Batman fan.

I hate the toxicity that the fanbases generate.

@jekylhyde14: Honestly I think it can still work. While it might need to get heavily altered, the New 52 origin can work as Superman's "venting phase," maybe during an internship at the Planet and then once everything is sorted, then boom the usual stuff.

Superman: Earthbound Angel

Superman himself

1. Personality

Raised in Smallville, Kansas, I see Clark as being a very happy child, willing to help his parents whenever they needed help and in turn helping others with his new abilities. Because the majority of Smallville considers him family, as they grew to know and love him as he grew up. As a result, a lot of his personality stems from not just his parents but all of Smallville, it taught him that there's good in people and that even someone like him can be accepted among society. That way Superman doesn't need to travel around the world to know his place because in a way he already found it while he was growing up. I mean Superman will obviously question who he is but it won't be that much of a bother to him.
Anyways to the meat of this section, my Superman will be an amalgamation of all of the main versions of the character: From Golden age to Rebirth. When the story starts, he is already in Metropolis for a few weeks. His persona as Clark Kent is somewhat clumsy (attribute that to being new in the city) but not stupid. He is kind to everyone but can be somewhat irritated if something gets a little too annoying. When he dons the mantle of Superman, his personality is kind but stern, being somewhat naive but also incredibly relaxed and somewhat sarcastic. When he starts out as Superman, he is similar to the original Golden Age Superman, violent but not nearly as brutal, slowly turning into the Rebirth version of the character.
As the story moves along over the next few years, we get to see more signs of this Superman, learning that he is the last of his kind will give out his depression side, but rather than dwell on it, he eventually creates a Fortress of Solitude as both a tribute to his two homeworlds and a safe haven to himself and his eventual Super-family. To summarize this Superman is the best aspects of the character all molded into one individual while having a lot of Character Development.

2. True Identity

I'm of the belief that all of the identities of my Superman will all be the true identity. Superman represents his venting frustrations and also his stress reliever, Clark Kent is representative of the son of Jonathan and Martha Kent as well as an ace reporter of the Daily Planet, and Kal-El is his hidden insecurities and inner loneliness. These three represents the character and all of them are his true identity.

3. Civilian life

I'm an up and coming journalist myself so I know that a lot of journalists will not come in with a suit and tie. Unless you are in broadcasting, most journalists kind of wear somewhat nice but casual clothes. I honestly want my Superman to have a normal life. He lives in a nice apartment in "Shuster & Siegel's" and when he relaxes during after hours, he and his two best friends, Jimmy Olsen and Lois Lane hang out every now and then in "Swan's Tavern". When he is out being a journalist, I would want a lot of depth with the people of Metropolis and Metropolis itself. Unless you're a Gothamite, I feel like Metropolis life is grossly underdeveloped so I hope that developing Superman and his civilian life to be more central with Metropolis, that we can see a ton of development, let us see Superman go to the Suicide Slums and interview the life there. Have Superman's Smallville like mentality be a stark contrast to Metropolis's citizens. Define why Metropolis is so great, why the citizens deserve to be heard.
4. Powers
This is the part where I am going to have to split his powers into years/seasons because I want this Superman to grow and develop his powers the same way everything else develops.
Season 1: The Golden Age of Superheroes.
-Superman's abilities will be a combination of the film Man of Steel and the Fleischer cartoons. This Superman has the titanic strength (can lift tanks and small houses), run approximately 500 mph, and can leap over the tallest building in Metropolis (frame of reference is the Burj Khalifa). However, he can also fly but he needs a running start and he can fly up to Mach 1. What's more, he has heat and x-ray vision, which at the moment are in there most basic form. He also has Super breath which can blow away about 5 people by about a block. In terms of his durability, he is completely bulletproof however a piercing shell can bruise him.
Season 2: Intergalactic Miracle
-Superman's abilities improved considerably as the years go by, he trains during his spare time and his initial abilities have doubled. But the moment he learns his true heritage does he unlock all of his abilities. By that time his powers go from double to 15 times. He can now lift large battleships, run at the speed of sound and the strongest thing that he can survive is the Tsar Nuclear Bomb. He can fly up to about Mach 5 and his heat vision can now literally melt 5 ft of steel. His senses also increase dramatically, able to hear from the other side of Metropolis and unlocking the power of freeze breath. Essentially his power set is similar to Byrne's level of power.
Season 3: Rebirth
-When Superman comes back from the dead, his powers get enhanced even further, now being around the level of Rebirth Superman. He can now breath in space, travel faster than the speed of light, survives being blown away by a supernova, and can destroy planets and stars with his fists alone. This Superman gets such a power boost that only more intergalactic threats can seriously harm him.
Season 4: Family
-When his son is around 15 years old (most likely gonna do a time skip here), Superman not only has much more experience now, but he has now reached the zenith of his abilities. Being the happy middle ground of Kingdom Come Superman and Silver Age Superman, this Superman can carry around several planets with one arm, powerful enough to survive a literal erasure of a universe, look out from the other side of the solar system, and is now resistant to all of his weaknesses.

5. Intellect
My Superman will be considered a genius in the same way Okabe Rintarou is a genius in Steins;Gate. While he isn't a polymath like Bruce Wayne or a sheer genius like Lex Luthor, he is intelligent enough that he can keep up with them. As a strategist, I would argue that my Superman is even better than Batman. Because he is more varied with his enemies, he knows and can find ways to fight them better. He may not be the best in terms of prep time, but this Superman can definitely make Batman think twice about using Kryptonite.
6. Skills
-Expert Reporter: This Superman is one of the best in his field, rivaling that of Lois Lane and the Question. What stands Lois and Clark apart is their connection with their respective communities. Superman as a reporter has better connections with his sources as individuals, but Lois should be better at finding amazing stories. Superman is the better writer, but Lois is better at expressing emotions.
-Expert Combatant: This Superman should be a master of his craft. While he is very much a brawler, he isn't afraid of using kicks, in fact, I want Superman to take what he has learned from fighting individuals like Batman, Wonder Woman, and Darkseid, and develop his own fighting style. This Superman fights with his powers, yes, but with enough experience under his belt, Superman as a fighter won't have to use them.
-Basic skills in cooking: Superman in the kitchen he is not. He is getting better though.

-Expert Mechanic: Probably a talent inherited from his family, Superman is an amazing mechanic, building Kelex and the Fortress of Solitude with nothing but Kryptonese notes and creative intuition.

7. Technology
Definitely a combination of Krypton and Earth technology. I want this Superman to be a son of two worlds. So his Fortress of Solitude should totally reflect that. In terms of his journalism equipment, it should be standard earth stuff but personally customized to suit his needs.

8. Pets
In terms of pets, I think it would be awesome if this Superman gets all of them as the story goes on. Krypto, Streaky the Cat, the Supermonkey, and even the Superhorse should make an appearance. However, I want only Krypto to be the only Kryptonian animal, while the rest are genetically engineered similarly to Superboy.

9. Base
I want Superman to have three bases. One is his home which eventually expands once the Super-family comes along, his first fortress the Mountain Fortress from the Golden Age which gets destroyed during the time he dies. Finally his current base, the fortress of Solitude in the South pole. But not in Crystals, as I said before, I want these fortresses to be a literal fusion of Earth and Krypton.

I'll finish the rest later

@rdclip: I have seen my share as well, and I agree with you. That type of manga style while popular, should not be the be all, end all of what a potential Superman manga can be. We had a bat-manga at some point, and we also had Katsuhiro Otomo draw a black and white Batman short at one point.

Personally, I would love to see Naoki Urasawa tackle the Man of Steel, because of his human-like characters and psychological narratives, (note I don't want a dissection of Superman, but rather a Lex Luthor who can psychologically contend with him.

I would also like the dude doing One Punch Man to do it, thanks to his great choreography and dynamic style.
