Hey, someone asked how variant covers were accessed within the api - and I was wondering that myself, since theres appearently no solution to it.. So I kinda figured something out.. ( view original thread here )

Let's take Silk #2 as an example

ComicVine url:

https://comicvine.gamespot.com/silk-1/4000-506662/

The API url for the standard cover, looks something like this:

https://comicvine.gamespot.com/api/image/original/4398330-01.jpg

Then let's say we want one of the variants from the sidebar, right? Let's right click and open in a new tab.. Then, that url is this:

https://static.comicvine.com/uploads/scale_large/6/67663/4925300-01-variant.jpg

Clearly those two img urls are very different. One of them, is at static.comicvine.com, and the other one is at comicvine.gamespot.com ( and needless to say, they have different paths.. )

But if we take the variant url, and removes this part: /uploads/scale/6/67663, and adds the remaining '4925300-01-variant.jpg' to our standard API url:

https://comicvine.gamespot.com/api/image/(scale)/url then it works!

So in the end, our variant cover url for our API ( as an example, having the size 'scale_small' ) would look something like this:

https://comicvine.gamespot.com/api/image/scale_small/4925300-01-variant.jpg

Only two major downsides to this, is that its not an ideal solution, and we would have the 'scrape' the website, to get the variant-url parts that we need..

But at least I hope this helps someone else :-)

Sorry if my grammar is bad, but english isn't my native language.

Yea I'm seeing some wierd things as well...

search query = 'Amazing Spider-Man'
resources = character,issue,volume
resource_type = volume
sort=volume:DESC

this used to work but now it doesnt. It just returns all 'amazing spider-man' related issues, but not sorted..

Not that I know of. I kinda wanted to do it myself, but if I get back to it, I'll msg you.

I'm having the same 'problem'. I've usually been able to sort through the data by saying "sort=volume:desc" but now I only get the results in random order..
