Everyone pretty much said what I was about to say..

4/5

Pros

-The main characters got depth and development

-Chemistry was spot on

-Humorous in different ways

-Great action scenes

-Great visuals

-Wasn't all humor.. There were some good emotional and serious moments

-Gamora was fine to me.. She was at times weak and sympathetic but that's what I like to see.. I can't stand characters that "force" badassery down my throat

I can actually tell Gunn put heart into this film instead of it being half assed

The weak link were the villains.. Ronan got offed before he fully became interesting.. He was badass but he left too quickly.. The battle between him and the guardians were badass until Quill pulled that lame ass dance to distract him..

Nebula was better and her fight with Gamora was great.. She needed a bit more depth but she was sadistic and intimidating.. Gillan has a lot of talent and like with TWS both don't get the amount of screen time you would expect

It's like this in a nutshell.. Villains start off cold then the second they get hot they get taken away and it leaves you with a "WTF" feeling

And to be clear there are numerous ways to write a villain not everyone has to be a Loki(overrated) and Bane(can't believe people actually used this example) to be a good villain..

The build up for Thanos however is completely chilling and it leaves you wanting more from him which is what Gunn and Feige wanted

It's comedy but mostly like dark comedy and slapstick violence.. Like Groot beating a guard to death with the body of another guard ala Jason X then smiling to Starlord with a "did I do good look" and Drax taking everythin to literally.. But there's more

But it gets very emotional and serious when it has to be especially Gamora and Nebula

Frieza was the best in terms of depth/personality/goals/impact/backstory/build up etc.. There's a reason as to why he's regarded as a legendary villain in the anime/manga

Vegeta comes second

Cell was an interesting villain but comes third

Worst was Buu... He's not fit to be a main villain

Of all things I've seen her in...I'd never suspect Glenn Close to be in a Marvel film

Massive respect for her.. Hopefully she does a great Nova Prime

Dat Ronan though
