@hercuthor: Dont get me wrong i enjoyed it as well, just want everyone to enjoy it also. I agree with the H2H aspect and minus the firearms, although it worked for Ares with Gatling Guns, but a Gatling gun looks way more badass than a Taser or Pulse Rifle. With that said Technology is what the 1st issue established, so lets hope the action gets more Gritty, fun and exiting with or without Tech.
Lets hope issue 2 starts knocking peoples socks off. The writers have to know they can't slow burn this series. Unlike some of us here who have waited 3 plus years for a Hercules series, the average reader won't be so patient. We need better villains and not so rushed looking artwork or we will be looking at another "Herc" failed series.
Ok, I'll start it off. As far as the first issue goes, the first time I read it, I was abit underwhelmed. I enjoyed the second read alot more. I didn't find the villain very interesting, or the action very exiting. The apparition that showed itself to Herc has me looking forward to what's to come and the interaction between Gil and Hercules was enjoyable. The costume looked fine and I liked how they paid respect to the old one.
As a father to a couple of boys, I dig the offering the two boys gave since mine adore their cards.
Also my local shop sold out quick which was inconvenient to me but promising for the future.
@kid_omega_prime: You can go off of that if you like, but it is only based on one panel and an interview from one Hercules writer. Now theirs another Hercules writer saying he's straight.. but hey, think what you like... I have said enough.
@kid_omega_prime: I think post #69 answered your question quite nicely, you should read it again more closely.
Here's my answer to your question (sorry for the bad grammar).
You stated that the writers can't seem to make up their minds, but the fact is, that the whole history of Hercules in marvel has shown him to be nothing but "straight". In "The New Labour's of Hercules" mini series, he flat out tells a guy that walks in on him in the restroom "That he is flattered but does not swing that way". And, just because one panel shows Northstar run off while a FEMALE elf talks about how good Hercules is in bed, is all for the reader to interpret it the way they want.
I also understand that the ONE writer in a interview stated that meant to mean they had sex, but if marvel wanted Hercules in that moment to be Bisexual, they could have easily made a panel of them two in the same room or in the same bed or anything together, just like the dozen or so panels of him laid up with females in the past (which are as obvious as you can get). Just like any writer in fiction, just because he has one conclusion of something left unspecified, doesn't mean it will be the same as yourself.
Hell I don't remember any modern Hercules in media being bisexual... from the tv shows, last 2 movies, and Disney character.
But, lastly, I totally understand why a community of people would want someone as great as Marvels Hercules to represent them. He's powerful, confident and fun. But, I honestly don't think that the people who are outraged know very much about this Hercules or have followed him as much as some fans like myself here have. Marvel and the writer are staying true to his Marvel history. But, if in the future they were to make him bisexual, I'll still be their, buying and support one of my favorite characters.
I think, since the new writer wants to bring a mythological element to his stories, why not bring in some other heroes. I remember in the 4 issue series of "Ares" when they first fight Mikaboshi the Olympians gathered all their heroes. I think it'd be sweet to see Hercules interact with several different mythological heroes like Achilles, Jason and his argonauts, Perseus, Ajaks, Samson, and Odysseus. (Friend, foe or rivals)
So its official, one writer proclaimed Herc to be bisexual when his history in the MARVEL UNIVERSE would say otherwise (other than that one panel), while the newest and most current writer tell us he's straight... So I guess he's straight, let move on. I personally couldn't be more exited by this news and look forward to supporting this new series.
