It's me again...

You may know me, you may not...

For the uninitiated, I was an asinine 13 year old dick who really sucked at writing and desperately want to sit at the Big Boy's table. When I got, eh 14-16, I shed the title of Midnight Lantern and went to this name, "The Drifter".

I was sort of respected among my peers (despite being snubbed in the CVHOF like five hundred times..feel like DiCaprio before The Revenant.) but alot of that respect came from simply just me working hard at what I was doing and finally treating writing like it was something serious.

I went from "Here's Wolfenstein and he's sitting on a church" in Comicvine World War 3 to being compared to Neil Gaiman in one of my Fan-Fictions.

Towards the end, I did some things I wasn't proud of. I did plagiarize a website once, I did steal a couple of avatars (in fairness, it was labeled Community Avatars but I digress), I even hurt someone who well, they don't matter much now but that's not the point.

Point is, I'm moving on. I'm desperately trying to my GED. I'm trying to get a girlfriend (getting close) and trying to become a film-maker and channel this violent Tarantino-esque energy that I have into something more meaningful. I guess what I'm saying is two things

A. Comicvine isn't what it to used be (atleast not for me), then again I've been since 06...

$*%#'ing 06 man!

B. In trying to make it better or what it used to be, I'm losing sight of my goals and how to achieve them.

And so it's with a heavy heart, I request that G-man and the Mod team just delete this account, all the posts, and everything in a similar fashion to someone else I knew.

If you guys read this and think, "ah shit man, not Drift"

Well, My skype is HandsomeFrog22 (remember when MSN/Meebo was a thing? #@$! I'm a relic) and I'm on twitter @BallsOBeason

So that's all. Bring in the new age. Out with the old.

It sure wouldn't be a Drifter post if there wasn't alittle "Disturbed" though

Guide to the Newuserverse-Part 2: Know the Forums

So you know who to bother when you gotta problem, now it's time to know where the magic happens: In the forums!!
Lets take a quick look down Forum lane.

Newest Topics

This is a grab-bag of all the latest topics from every forum. If you see some topics from categories you don't want to see or vice versa simply go to preferences and check what you want.

My Favorites

Now this is getting a little more fun, say you like the battles forum (we'll get into that later), simply go to battles and in the upper right (my right atleast), you'll see add forum to favs. You do this again with another forum and so on and then you have Your Favorites. Pretty cool right? Right on.

Gen. Discussion

The home of the Hi I'm new thread and alittle more detailed list on what I'm writing called Forum Descriptions, thats a little outdated so lets stick with this one :P
General discussion is about comics in general. But not off-topic discussion or battles, gen. discussion stays in gen. discussion etc.

Threads of interest?   - Also, Don't make a thread in one thread saying - "HEY I'M NEW TO COMICS. WHATS A GOOD COMIC TO READ? Roflcopter go's soi soi soi". Thats what the Who's reading thread is for.

Bug Reporting

The site is still relatively too and like most sites, it's bound to have a few kinks in the works. So if you see a bug, just report it here.

Threads of interest?

Artist Show-Off

Think you're the next Picasso? Show it off here! Not much I can say here as it's kinda self explanatory.

Threads of Interest

Off topic

From kittens to rainbows to death and gore. As a rule of thumb, if it's not about comics. It go's here.

Threads of Interest

Now, Contests are generally when the Staff sets up something like a caption contest. A picture of something crazy and asking you to fill in the blank of what the character is saying.  But thats just one of the many ideas the staff has of keeping the site fresh and new. There are many contests and I for one know there will be many more to come.

Threads of Interest

Hard to say as most of the contests are old and outdated. But new contests will be pinned to newest topics, see above ^.
Alright, now we're getting into heavy hitting stuff. Battles is where two characters from comics go mano e mano. Versus each other, NOW REMEMBER THAT JUST BECAUSE IT HAS VS. IN THE TITLE DOES NOT MEAN IT IS A BATTLE THREAD!!. I.e. Family Guy Vs South Park is not a battle, it's just asking which show is better. Stewie Griffin vs Cartman is a battle because it's the two against each other.
Threads of interest
I could go on but Methos covered everything you need to know about

Sort of like Artist Show-Off but for writers. Simple as that.

Threads of Interest

I could go on ALOT about RPG'ing but everything you need to know is covered in threads of interest.  Please examine them and study them before going all willy nilly.
Thats all for now. The other forums will be covered...

Top Five of 09'

So here is my list of the top comics I read during 09. What? You want a novel to introduce this thing? :P

5. Preacher

Wow. Just wow. This comic is one of my favorite stories ever written, an amazing work of fiction in every right.  I must admit when I first read this back in 08' after two buddies of mine talked me into reading it, I did'nt like it. But with "After Watchmen, Whats next?", I thought I'd give it a shot again.  And it was a pleasant surprise, the last issue had be bordering on tears.....The language and Steve Dillions art can be distracting at first, but once you get past it. This is simply Garth Ennis's best work.

4. Haunt

Let god be praised that the writer of people like Spawn, Venom and Spidey has come back with such a bang. Ryan Ottley penning, Todd coloring and Robert writing. It's a match made in heaven....or hell as the case may be.  This Espionage/Action/Horror has all the makes of an awesome ongoing, that I for one, cannot wait to continue to read.

3. Ghost Rider : Danny Ketch
 Danny Ketch
 Danny Ketch
Few comics have shocked me, but Danny Ketch's mini this year was one of them.  I won't spoil it, but the moment in the first issue where they talk about Danny losing his powers and wanting them back, the things he does to get the feeling of being a Ghost Rider again...It paints him almost as a junkie. It's a different take on an old character that really humanized him in my opinion and ultimately made me a fan.
2. Cowboy Ninja Viking.
Hilarious. Just hilarious. Theres not much I can say about this other have'nt laughed until the Ninja says "I need a Wellbutrin!".
 Now whats number one?
1. Old Man Logan

BUY THIS BOOK. Nuff said!

Well, I hope you enjoyed my list. So what your top five comics you read in 09?
