If you are reading this and are not familiar with the ruckus going down in the DC Comics universe, then I must question how you were even able to turn your computer on.
I've always been more of a Marvel guy. The only thing I've ever cared about from DC just as much is Batman. Most of the DC comics I have are Bat-Books. After that Green Lantern then Flash.
I've never been a big reader of Superman but I've read a book here and there. Have no interest in the JSA. I've never read a single Legion book. Wonder Woman? Nope. Final Crisis gave me a massive headache. All two issues that I read of it.
That's why I was kind of excited when this reboot business came to fruition. I signed up for every New 52 issue 1 and made a deal with myself to read each one with an open mind. If I liked the first issue, I'd keep reading. And if I kept reading, it was more than likely going to be digital from issue 2 on. (I am totally exhausted with bagging, boarding and boxing my comics. I have too many. It's driving me mental.)
This renewal of activity on this here blog stems from the feather tickling this "DCnU, New 52, Who lives in a shoe" has brought about.
I'm planning on posting reviews. Just don't hold your breath.
My comic focus is swaying ever so slightly away from the caped crusader type. Casanova HC Vol. 1, B.P.R.D. & Hellboy and all that that implies, Buffy, SCARLET by Brian Bendis and the like are getting more of my attention.
Things like Shadowland (Daredevil) have been dropped. Oh look, Matt Murdock is possessed and/or being controlled by The Hand. *Insert Loud Ass Godzilla Snore*
*Disclaimer: You're just going to have to get used to my writing "stylings" if you actually care to take the time to read my ramblings.
So there. I've actually posted my first review AND my pull list. (off the top of my head mind you, if I missed something, guess I should drop it)
At the moment, I care more for Marvel (even though "Siege" was rough for me) over DC. I'm totally Blackest Night'd out of my head right now. Blackest Night started off great for me. It and Green Lantern were what actually brought me back from my latest comic collecting exile.
Comic Collecting Exile = Me, asking myself why the F am I wasting my money on comics that aren't moving me. (addiction?) It's not the art form of comics that gets me down, it's just that I tend to stop caring when I realize how much fanboy masturbation happens too often nowadays.
Seriously, I just dropped some titles and will probably continue to do so.
I really love comics. Really. I do. These 3000 some odd comics I'm surrounded by in my office remind me of it every day.
It's just that it gets harder and harder to care when everything you read starts to "sound" the same.
And no I'm not sure why I keep spacing out my thoughts. Maybe I've become twitterized.
Having a family to feed, one headed to college, one about to become a Freshman in high school and the other who I am trying to freeze at 9 yrs old forever because not only can I not believe my youngest is going to be 10 in half a year but also because time is now flying by at a cliched break-neck-pace it makes me cry......where was I? Oh yes, sometimes I can't justify spending the money I do on them anymore. (Have fun with that last thought)
But until I give them up completely (or forget I even started this) this will be where I talk about the ones I do read. Oh and I am just going to jump right in. I could go back a month or so and start reviewing from there. (see head exploding) But I'm not.
Marvel Avengers New Avengers Secret Avengers --Avengers Prime Avengers Academy (barely) Steve Rogers Super Soldier Iron Man Fantastic Four --Doom War Captain America Amazing Spider-Man Ultimate Spider-Man Uncanny X-men (very iffy. could drop any minute now.) X-Men (as long as there is vampires) Daredevil --Shadowland --SHIELD
DC Batman & Robin --The Return of Bruce Wayne Batman Green Lantern Green Lantern Corps Flash Superman (JMS only) --Superman: Secret Origin
Other (And no I don't think less of non big two comics. Off your high horses indie snobs. I usually read these types in trade.) Buffy The Vampire Slayer - Season 8 Walking Dead (TPB's) Y The Last Man (TPB's) Scott Pilgrim (fell for the movie hype like a slut) Various others............
This may (will) change often as my overall excitement for comics changes constantly.
