Geoff Johns vs. Brian Michael Bendis: Why are they being compared

I've happened to find a few blogs on other sites recently that compared two of the most well-known writers in the the business: Geoff Johns, the mastermind behind dozens of renowned DC publications, and Brian Michael Bendis, who has captured as many of Marvel's mainstream characters. I got a good laugh out of the fact that many users on these various sites feel that, well, Bendis is on a completely different level from Johns. I've followed both for a while now, and, I'll be the first one to say, Bendis has quickly become one of the most overrated writers in the business. While he gets in the limelight with mediocre storylines like Secret Invasion (one of the worst endings in modern comic history) and the ongoing Mighty Avengers shipwreck series, Johns continues to come out with blockbuster arcs, such as Sinestro Corps War, 52, Black Reign and GL: No Fear and Greg Rucka, who has produced many award-winning series', such as Gotham Central, fall out of the household-name range. Johns, in my opinion, is the most creative, complex, in-depth writer in the business and hits the mark with full-bodied major storylines. Meanwhile, Rucka's work on Batman and Superman, as well as his Spider-Man's Tangled Web one-shot, leaves you in your chair 10-15 minutes after you finish reading it. Grant Morrison is also an elite talent, as WWIII and All-Star Superman display. Bendis is a good writer, don't get me wrong, but he can't craft a storyline that effects all of Marvel Earth effectively from start to finish. That is why, as far as I see it, Johns and many other DC writers are the ones on the completely different level.
