A New Beginning
After the events of the Oncoming Storm, Longshot realized that his approach to organized crime fighting was all wrong, and with the integrity of his team already compromised, he finally decided to disband the Children of the Damned. However, as he broke this news to his teammates, he also revealed that he had devised a newer, better organization dedicated to dealing with crime on a global scale. Where the C.O.D. was located in a gritty, rundown brownstone in Boston, the new team's headquarters would be a magnificent one-hundred-foot tall white stone obelisk tower in the remote tundra of Alaska. Longshot allowed the Children of the Damned to remain as a hollow target for the media, but its time was over. The time of the Knights of Dawn had begun.
Roster
Longshot (Team Leader)
Longshot is a skilled marksman and hand-to-hand fighter. Although he has no powers to speak of, his assassin past left him the recipient of performance enhancing drugs that radically boosted his senses, reflexes and agility. The side effects of these experimental drugs scarred him permanently, but that was only the beginning of his self-set penance as he swore to fight corruption and injustice as atonement for those he murdered, no matter the cost. Although the archer prefers to work alone, he realized that organization was the only way to properly stem the tide of crime in the world. In an effort to reform those who would kill for justice, Longshot has taken several brutal vigilantes into the ranks. However, this seems to be a much more daunting task than he had speculated.
Decoy Elite
There from the beginning, Decoy is a member of the C.O.D.'s founding trinity.Although he tends to drift in and out, remaining something of an enigma, Longshot holds him as a close and trusted ally. His ability to cast astral projection doppelgangers has proven invaluable in battle and he holds a respected place on the team.
Ball and Chain
Marco Smith is the latest in a long chain of hosts to the mysterious being, Ball, an iron shackle that has somehow gained sentient life, and who's only goal is to punish the guilty. Ball maintains a psychic link with his host, and when he is shackled to them, they take on a new form, growing to over seven feet in stature, gaining incredible strength, and becoming the unstoppable juggernaut, Ball and Chain. Although the creature is in total control, and its iron will cannot be swayed, Longshot has tried to convince the lumbering vigilante to show mercy against the wicked. Even though Ball holds all the power, Marco is the one that Longshot trusts and considers a friend.
Knightwing
Born into poverty, Jacob Brass had a less than easy life. When he and his family were attacked by a gang of muggers, they were rescued by the mysterious vigilante, Clue. Although his mother was murdered and his father was paralyzed, Jacob was driven by that horrific tragedy to train and prepare himself to survive in his crime-ridden environment and care for his crippled father. Years passed, the boy had become a man, and he was assaulted by an overwhelming gang once again, only for the fearful symmetry to be completed as Clue stepped in, dispatching the thugs with ease. After that night, Clue took Jacob under his wing and taught him everything he would need to avenge his mother and prevent anyone from knowing his pain ever again. He took on a mask and defended the world as Knightwing. Knightwing is skilled in hand to hand combat, an expert detective and a powerful athlete. Clue's apprentice is in his prime and ready to fight crime around the world.
Sorcerer Swift
Born of immortal man and mortal woman, Maxford Shift inherited many of his father's traits. The ability to drain another life form's energy proved fatal for his mother in child birth. His powers only grew stronger as he aged. By the time he had become a man, Maxford was a master sorcerer. Swift set out to distance himself from his father and change the world as Sorcerer Swift. His loyalty has yet to be tested and Longshot is unsure of where this teammate stands on taking a life.
Umbra
Ozzy Winters, who was once the evil organization LinkTech's greatest weapon, became their worst enemy, taking them apart piece by piece and becoming the crime fighting hero, Umbra. Because of his training and top prowess in fighting and weapon use, along with his DAYWING power armor he is a force to be reckoned with. Even though Ozzy Winters preferred to work alone, he couldn't deny that joining up with COD saved countless lives. Now after a long absence he joins KOD, following Longshot, one man that he safely trusts with his own life.
Wallcroft
Jacob Velasquez joined the NYPD at an early age and quickly rose through the ranks, eventually joining the U.S. Special Forces. During an operation gone wrong, he gained special abilities through an unpredictable mishap. He uses his training and his abilities to protect the innocent and has joined the Knights of Dawn not only to fight for justice, but to be close to his friend and lover, Bloodstone.
Light
Father to the infamous Ethan Starks, Light is a pure bred Kryptonian hero heralding from the days of the great Ice Dragons. Following the team's collapse Light appearances began to diminish. After abandoning the Champions of Peace during an investigation on the moon and a brief stint serving with the Wolf Pack Light ventured deep into the recesses of space to find purpose. He returned to Earth empty handed and spent his endless days keeping to himself, hiding from the world. Until a young hero approached him with undying spirit and a willingness to protect. Swayed by the words of Longshot Light rose to meet the challenge once again, as a Knight of the Dawn.
Kyona
Kyona was orphaned at three years old. She was found and raised by a hit man named Chester Campbell Wheeler, who named her after his deceased daughter. Starting from the age of five, she was put through various forms of combat training including martial arts, chi kung and melee weapons. During her teens, Wheeler had discovered that she possessed some extra qualities that no normal human possessed. Her body developed the ability to heal itself rapidly and her physical attributes had peaked. Her hand to hand prowess is by no means second rate while her weapons and equipment make up for most of what she lacks. Her diversity allows her to be the muscle enforcer or the covert operative.
