@wastelandman: strange casts spells in the main. It requires concentration for many of his spells that can also include incantations. Yes he can come to a fight prepared, layered down with spells but this battle did not include prep.
If the HoF runs twice a year, then perhaps a maximum carry over period of 2 years would be warranted. If a debater does not make it in during this period, then perhaps they shouldn't make it.
This might keep the list shorter and make the activity to look at members of the lists debates less arduous, since we want to encourage voters to participate.
It will also motivate the older members to focus on getting other older members in to the HoF if they feel obligated to try.
However, I think a key point made previously in this thread is the need to ensure the quality of the nominees and those actually becoming a member of the HoF.
Nominees should exemplify debating skill, show good knowledge and also display encouragement to other debaters (civility, patience etc).
Don't just go for the popular vote, look at the nominees and what they have debated and how they did it. Show the same drive in identifying those worthy of your vote as you would in researching a battle.
I feel strongly about this as I'm a member of the 1st HoF and I have a lot of respect for several members of this group.
My main focus on Comicvine was the battle forum. I spent hours debating, explaining and then explaining some more what I believed to be correct. Used to be fun, was certainly entertaining. Now I don't recognize the forum anymore.
No one person has read every comic. No one person knows every outcome.
The battle forum should be a place were ideas should be shared and discussed.
