@razzatazz: :) Well, if you are going to wait it out...or possibly not pick this up. I will for sure let you know if it is worth it at the end. Promise!
@razzatazz I just had time to read through this entire analysis. Love it.
I also really appreciate that they made her much more powerful than the "June Cleaver" she used to be in the early days.
The pinnacle point for me and how awesome she is was in an issue of FF, where she was threatening Doom with a force field bubble inside his brain. It really made me realize where they could take her character...not to mention the numerous times she has kept her family/team safe from falling debris, lava, etc. In fact, when she went through the lava in one of those issues...awesome.
Anyway, my rambling was a strong divergence from your article, but you got me thinking about this again...which, if anything, is what this is all about!
Thanks for such a detailed look at this one very pivotal (haha) scene.
@razzatazz: lol. Because it has Thanos in it, duh. ;) Sadly, that has justified nearly 80% of my comic purchases in the past few years...
On a more serious note, it is a great "coming of age story" for a mostly unknown character.
Again, I am 100% biased. But it is getting pretty decent reviews.
If a person is not a "Marvel Cosmic" fan, this book is probably not for them, but if there is a cosmic bone in your body, the trade may be worth the money. :)
I just was blown away at how his 45 year old idea fit so well with the current story-line's "The Block" concept. It was a really wonderful coincidence.
Even more so, was the experience of actually happening upon the issue when he and I were going through all his old comics... to randomly find the comic, and then the actual letter -- was unbelievable.
Again, thanks to everyone for their kind words. It is an honor to share such a neat story here on ComicVine!
As I have been at this collecting thing a while, I have a ton of signed stuff from various creators. None of which stick out more than the individual pieces of art produced my Matt Kindt (@mattkindt).
Matt doesn't just autograph your copy of his book - he will set it on fire - right in front of you.
(see the second image above of the "Red Handed" HC)
He will also decorate a recycled paper bag from a local grocery to create something amazing (see the first and bottom five images above of the "Mind MGMT" HC).
Does it stop there? Absolutely not. Check out what he did to my copy of "The Tooth". He cuts a piece out of one of the back pages, uses a glue stick to adhere it to the inside cover page and sets up a fantastic place for autographs (see the third and fourth images above of "The Tooth" HC).
Even simple hardcovers are unique...The "3 Story" HC ships with its very own working window! (see the fifth image above)
And it goes on...and on...
His convention setup is like no other. The table is covered with an old army blanket, every square inch is covered in tchotchkes, original art, water color paints, inks, markers, and of course copies of his various works.
So, this is why he is one of the coolest people I have ever met. Comic industry or otherwise.
Truly, one of a Kindt.
What quirky creations do you have from Matt?
