Yeah, it was never explained. The theme song is pretty good.

There might be a connection to Highlander and Master of The Universe.

It's been rolling around in my brain as potential headcanon. ;)

...Why did the Highlander immortals need swords? What if they'd all just gone their separate ways, and lived their lives? Who decided "There can be only one?"

"Immortal gunslinger" sounds kind of sexy, though. :)

That's some good questions. My thought is that they weren't truly immortal since they could be beheaded and die while all of their powers transfer to the one who's beheading them, making them stronger. So they just had longevity and are not really immortal. I gotta admit Highlander was one of my favorite T.V. shows.

I liked both Highlander, and Highlander: The Raven, but they're starting to age out. I do applaud them that the guy who didn't approve of immortal activity was p.o.'d at The Raven for not telling him that he was immortal. I didn't like it, but it was consistent characterization, and I can appreciate that. But that whole franchise was a mess. The movies were inconsistent, the "there can be only one thing" was never explained... to what end?

My thought is that the show's theme song said, "We're the princes of the universe..." so maybe "the one" got to move on to becoming one of the Masters of the Universe? ;)

There's something to it, I tell ya! ;)

If she is supposed to be immortal then why does she need a gun?

She needs it to kill spirits. :)

Okay.

Hey, I don't know- I didn't create her, I'm just playing with what's there. Why did the Highlander immortals need swords? What if they'd all just gone their separate ways, and lived their lives? Who decided "There can be only one?"

Who drew the first character? Because he looks too close to Phantom Stranger.

They made it with an app called Hero Machine. Apparently it's not available since the plug was pulled on Flash Player. It's not too close though- Phantom Stranger is too close to The Shadow! ;)

Okay. Why did they pull it? That is true, they both are close to The Shadow.

Oh Okay. So that's where these characters come from.

@terry2012: Yeah, all of these Open Sourced entries are what you'd call Open Source Characters- ones people have created and released to the Public Domain. I discovered a group for them on Facebook, and I am coming to it way late- they started in 2011 or 2012!

Honestly, the range of how good they are varies. Some of them are so buried in the universes their creators have imagined around them, they're not worth digging down to... to me, anyway.

BUT... coming into it late has given me the benefit of seeing all of the characters now, rather than as they were coming out over the last decade. I've been making connections, merging characters, tweaking teams, and there is frankly some gold in them thar hills!

And then others... well, I'm just going to use them as canon fodder. It's not that they're terrible... it's just that's the only use I have for them. :)

Okay. A half-man half-animal villain is a better choice.

Well, I don't know about "better," but my little universe has an animal/human hybrids concept, and I need to populate that a bit. So, several of the characters I've picked up from this (like Razordog), I'll probably just ignore the histories their creators gave them, and use them for that. It's gonna be fun. :)

Okay.
