" What REALLY irks me is that this trailer used clips from the first trilogy...  so clearly it is set in the same continuity but yet... we see the rift forming between Erik and Charles already... and in the very first scene of X-Men the last stand we see a very chummy Charles (who is walking) and Erik visiting Jean Grey's home to try to recruit her for the school they are clearly both running (Erik mentions "Are we going to have to meet all of them in person?" And Charles responds with "No, this one is special".)   And don't even get me started on Emma Frost, yes the one in Wolverine Origins was Emma Frost, she was credited as Emma Frost, and she said her name was Emma Frost. Plot holes. Plot holes. Plot holes. "

I have plenty of friends who are into the Marvel film universe but not so much the comics. Ditto people who have nostalgia for the animated series' but not so much the comic books. I think this will serve them fine. When people ask me what Iron Man comic to read, they seem more excited if I say one is closer to the Robert Downey Jr. interpretation. For a lot of people, that's just what they know.

We'll always have 616 and Ultimate. I'm not opposed to them reaching out to casual fans like this. It can only mean more people reading comics in the end!

I've been gone from Deadpool for a while, though I appreciate it when he is handled right. Definitely on the pull list!

Having made a... ahem... thorough investigation into this parody, I don't see anything wrong with it. The Batman name has been attached to much worse in the past!

Alright, sorry to piss on Comixology or any of these current comic services but there's a fundamental problem here.

All you're buying is some ordered PDFs.

I know it seems taboo to talk about but any person who has torrented an issue of a comic knows it is an extremely small file; only about 13mb. If these companies are expecting me to pay for what is such a negligable file in terms of size and content, then there's really no attraction for me. I'd rather have the physical copy. There's no way to archive these comics (properly own them) on a hard drive or get new comics on day one. As a comic fan who isn't based in the USA and has to wait even longer for comics than the usual, there's no pull here. Maybe Comixology will get better but it'll take a long time.

Amazing that the Comic Vine community recoils from this idea. I personally don't care what colour Peter Parker ends up being in the new movies. I could make some cheap psychoanalytical reasons why you people want Peter to remain a "lame white guy", but I'll leave it to the psychologists among us.

Spider-Man in the movies does not need to be the same thing as Spider-Man in the comics. If Donald Glover is the better actor and the most charismatic, give him the role. That's all that should matter when it comes to casting anyway. If we are kept from casting someone simply based on the colour of their skin, then I am truly sad for this industry. So stagnant.

This guy really talked to G-Man like he's a child.

I've had to hang out with people who truly obsess over this kind of thing, to the point of refusing to read a new comic because they'd need to be "up on the continuity" first. I really don't see it as a necessary thing. Let's face it, most of us can't read the thousands of comics that came before us and neither can the current crop of creators in this industry. It doesn't matter at all, beyond knowing some background knowedge (we have Comic Vine and Wikipedia for that). Enjoy the books for what they are now rather than what preceded them.

If I can be biased for a moment, the continuity thing does seem to crop up with DC fans more. Maybe they've just went so insane with their perceived "continuity" that fans have lost their minds.

I've only ever watched the Justice Society episodes of Smallville. I thought they were alright. Every other episode i've caught snippets of seemed to be a little cheap and badly written. Using professional wrestlers as bad guys and all that.

Agreed that it has gone on too long without Clark becoming Superman. If they start the final season with him putting on the suit and finally making that transition, I will watch every episode. It'll be about time.
