Marvel Divas

Two words come to mind: No thanks.

The reason I love these Super Heroines is because they kick major ass, fight crime, stand up for those who can't  stand for themselves all while wearing confined clothing and rarely complaining.  I've understood that these women made the choice to take on their roles, there's always a choice. So when i found out about the Marvel Divas i had to research it a little. Here's a short description i found on Robot 6-

"The idea behind the series was to have some sudsy fun and lift the curtain a bit and take a peep at some of our most fabulous super heroines," says Marvel's Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, "In the series, they're an unlikely foursome of friends–Black Cat, Hell Cat, Firestar, and Photon–with TWO things in common: They're all leading double-lives and they're all having romantic trouble. The pitch started as "Sex and the City" in the Marvel Universe, and there's definitely that "naughty" element to it, but I also think the series is doing to a deeper place, asking question about what it means…truly means…to be a woman in an industry dominated by testosterone and guns. (And I mean both the super hero industry and the comic book industry.) But mostly it's just a lot of hot fun."

Lets explore this.
Having trouble with their romantic problems. Well duh, they're heroes, who doesn't have relationship problems when they're saving the world?  The constant disappearing, long nights, tons of  dry cleaning bills and broken nails, it's all very much part of the gig. But I don't think we need a few issues, let alone a series detailing the trivial trials of this. I can pull Betty & Veronica for that shit.

How tough it is to be in a man's world?  Really? How many issues will revolve around that? And where the hell is Selina Kyle?  She would slap some sense into these ladies. I say a cross over between the Universes is entitled.  I just don't see these characters as  "divas" ; the type to feel "bummed out" about how Wolverine has been getting more face time than  say,Hellcat.

The thought of turning these four into some type of naughty cross experiment meeting Sex and the City with Charlies Angels makes me want to puke.
 [There's a funny word]
Most of my favorite ladies are dead or in the where are they now category. So the thought of bringing woman power back this way is totally useless to me.

I will def be spending my money on other subscriptions this July.
Assuming I'll be reading anything once Ghostbusters the VG comes out in June.
