“Not in vain at all. On that I agree. I will carry these memories to the Throne of Heroes. I think the Heroic Spirit King Canute will learn something from them.”

“Now,”

He glances towards the assembled overseers.

“Are you here in your roles as overseer, or has that been abandoned?”

The Last

No Caption Provided

The situation was almost exactly what Canute had sought. The grail is ready to be filled to completion. Archer and himself are on the grounds of the church, ready to claim it.

Except

He's here too.

Canute slowly moves closer to the church. But stops short of Moriarty.

"You ignored it for so long I half wondered if you'd abandoned the Holy Grail, and decided to achieve your wish on your own."

"But, well, here you are. Are you going to seize it?"

Not much to say on my end; if Canute and co are in the Mirror World, they won't get hit by Lancer's attack.

Time

No Caption Provided

Ah, there you are. I figured it was either around here or down at the church.

Oh, I have never been so happy to see that unstoppable tombak.

But if you're up here, we need someone down there.

Canute knows what Lancer's Noble Phantasm is. He knows what's coming, and that it's time to move. Over their telepathic link, Canute sends a message to Robin:

"She's about to fire. I'm pulling you out."

If there is no resistance, he will grab Robin and Will and pull them into the mirror world.

Then, he will open a portal within the realm that leads to a reflection right outside the ruins of Igreja de Santa Isabel.

"It's almost full. We need someone at the church when it's time. Go, all of you. I'll keep watch. I'll tell you when it's time."

He turns from his master and Archer, keeping an eye on the battle unfolding.

"Oh, the boys couldn't finish you off. Such a shame."

"Seems I should be going now. It's unfortunate we couldn't talk more, your highness."

Emma moves her spirit to Godwine's location via Signatory. Where is Godwine? If you know, you know.

Seizing the Opportunity

No Caption Provided

What the fuck?

I’ve seen master’s crest in use, against the dragon. That’s not what it looks like. Did something change?

But –

I won’t pass up this chance.

“Master! Orpheus is at his limit! Use your crest one last time!”

As for me,

Within the realm of mirrors, the air begins to shimmer. A great Viking ship appears once more. Canute raises his hand in an open palm, then brings it down as he closes it into a fist.

The hour of the wolf is here

By the fake right hand

No sinner is safe

Falsus Apocalypsis!

Power surges through the ship, and a storm of invisible blades fires from the hull, flying through the mirrors that dot the realm, and exiting the reflections on the battlefield.

Canute is summoning his mount and activating its Noble Phantasm, Falsus Apocalypsis. This debuted against Nemesis but I'll give a refresher. The attack is a storm of invisible blades fired as projectiles. The maximum number of blades is unconfirmed but the attack Canute is using is Infinite Phantom Blades, which is an upgrade from Thousand and Ten Thousand Blades. So more than 10,000 projectiles at the very least.

The barrage of swords is quite powerful, implied to be significantly damaging to Guren (based on one of them cutting his cheek and he his admission he's dead if he spends energy trying to detect them all, along with his choice to avoid them with a substitution.

Scans in reverse
Scans in reverse

Guren's durability being notable because he endured Mika's suicide attack which launched dozens of building (Guren when we next see him a few chapters later)

Scans in reverse

At C+++ rank, Falsus Apocalypsis is town level. The attacks also inhibit healing factors, enough to kill vampires who survive with their heads cut off.

The blades are going to be sent through the mirrors and fly out the reflections on the battlefield to rain down on the enemy combatants. Canute has Marksmanship A, which is being applied to all these swords. Marksmanship A has shown to make projectiles weave around and hit multiple targets to great effect:

Rider stands up in the saddle, and faces the duo.

"I am Khutulun, Princess of Ten Thousand Horses, the blood of the Great Khan flows through my veins. I will not fall here to a traitor and an old general from a conquered nation.

Ride with me to the world’s end my fallen suitors

There is no foe I cannot defeat

Minii Yertonts"

Archer and Assassin find themselves on a grassy steppe, atop a small hill. In the sky a massive pulsing sun shines with a fearsome red light. Rider stands across from them, drawing the bow from her back. Both servants suddenly become aware that the ground has begun to shake as shouts and screams can be heard in the distance.

Across the horizon a row of black appears. Ten thousand Mongol riders charge the servants.

“We should run.”

Assassin moves to flee, but Archer stands tall.

“They wish for a contest of archery? So be it.”

Ten thousand and one bows fire at once, the arrows blocking out the red sun. Archer draws back his greatbow. Ten arrows fly into the sky and not a single arrow reaches the pair. Another shot and the line of calvary begin to collapse. A horn is sounded and they begin to wheel away from the two servants.

“Mounted archers are unbeatable as long as you fulfill two separate conditions. Firstly you must be able to attack before your opponents can properly respond, secondly you must be able to retreat out of your opponents range. There is no mounted archer that can meet those conditions against me.”

Huang Zhong draws back his bow and fires another shot destroying another section of the horde.

“It appears you underestimated us. And that will be your downfall.”

- Day 9, Afternoon

So this is applied to over 10,000 projectiles which will chase down and hit each enemy.

With this said, the main purpose of the attack is killing Lycaon, who is asleep and defenseless. Everything else is a bonus. But the swords should be able to target Soul Eater, as well as Ba'al himself if he at any point leaves the higher dimension. They will also target Orpheus, and should damage his flesh form. He may heal from this, but keeping up the pressure and forcing him to continue using his Noble Phantasms is valuable at this stage. Canute has no way to detect Gilles and Moran to aim his attacks at them so they're safe.

Reminder that the swords are invisible. This is of no consequence to Ba'al who has Mind's Eye (and definitely of no consequence to Lycaon who's taking a nap), but if the Soul Eater doesn't share Ba'al's senses it's going to make it harder to detect the attacks.

The End of the Length of Odds

No Caption Provided

The King and the Huntress VS Those Who Walk With the Dead

Provided the blast of TCFTN and Elligatia's Crest is able to launch toward Orpheus and Ba'al, the Chimera will jump in front of it and unleash his corrosion at the blasts, whilst using his body as a shield to intercept it all in the stead of Ba'al who is taking an added measure of defense by passing into the void of the otherworld. At A Rank and below Marksmanship fired attacks can both be intercepted and even should they overpower the Soul Eater's breath and destroy it, The Chimera is also there as another body to intercept it along with the inability to fire through intangibility, let alone dimensions that EoTD EX would provide as well.

I won’t address EoTD because that is indeed dependent on rules and the CS/Pioneer/Crest supporting Canute. But while Marksmanship A can be intercepted using a summon to do so isn’t a good answer for They Came From the North. For one he can bounce his blasts off reflections (which should be mind-numbingly easy with Marksmanship A) to slip around defenses. More damningly though, Canute can easily spawn his attacks too close to Ba’al (or Orpheus) for Soul Eater/Chimera to help. In fact if his attack is in danger of a block he’s just going to connect to Ba'al's eyes and attack from there.

Given Orpheus’ feats and the relatively featless nature of Canute’s mirror crush, I’m forced to concede Orpheus can resist it. So Canute will change tactics and just turn him into glass. Needing to change on the fly isn’t ideal, but Canute has a healthy speed advantage as he’s charisma buffing himself to A++ agility (mach 40), fully twice Orpheus’ C agility (mach 20) so he has room. Given his knowledge of Na Eínai Os Éna, Canute knows he has to kill Orpheus fast before he becomes too large.

Ngl, I'm not as confident with this one as I am with the defenses. That said, as EH works through the domination of the space around him, and the mirror dimension works through being a different dimension within the space he's in, if they are within its range, I don't see why it wouldn't be able to dominate the dimension as well, or at least the parts of it that are within the range of Orpheus. We've seen in the other section that when breaking out of Eonoth's space, the space around Daniel in reality was also affected by his EH, so it can affect multiple different 'versions' of space at once:

I’m not particularly impressed by a full release of TAT only making a small ring of dirt. This doesn’t seem lethal.

It should, logically, work the other way, with Orpheus being able to affect the dimension that Canute is in without having to enter it himself. In lieu of that, Eligatia's crossbow bolts can clearly leave the mirror dimension, so there is some established connection between the dimension and our dimension that already exists and can be interacted with.

Canute can make the connection to the real world as one-sided as he wants. He can observe and effect everyone as he pleases, while no one can detect or reach him if he does not want.

The Earls meanwhile aren’t planning on attacking anyone from within Emma’s Dream World, so there’s no real danger on their part.

Regarding Pioneer of the Stars, as far as I can tell Orpheus doesn’t have any intrinsic resistance to transmutation. And this would be hitting him quickly before he expands too large with Na Eínai. So I don’t think Canute would use up the entirety of Pioneer killing Orpheus that way.

And Moran with a single bullet releases the second form of his Mana Burst, taking control of the surrounding mana to erase the effects of the abilities launched towards his allies and keep his own team's abilities in play. Inside this zone, which is fairly large considering the smaller space this battlefield is compared to the wider expanse of the mainland allows Moran to move freely across space and utilize mana from the environment and more than what he is normally capable of whilst conserving his own.

I’d be concerned about this if I had any intention of fighting in the same dimensional space as Moran. But Canute and Emma are both taking the fights to other dimensions. I haven’t seen anything from the second form of Moran’s mana burst to suggest it would stop someone from pulling one of his teammates into another dimension. It would have to stop magical energy functions altogether, which is not something that can be done at A rank.

Because of this, Moran is capable of unleashing attacks in any direction, so combined with Marksmanship and his propensity to use any and all means to disable and hit his opponents I've no problem arguing him firing a powerful set of bullets inside your own attacks, behind, and around each of you. To intercept and shoot down attacks as well as just attack

I’m unsure what attacks Moran is planning to spawn within mana zone. Spamming full rifle shots seems very costly. While the Earls wouldn’t be especially bothered by his low-power shots. The Earls survivability is addressed in the response to Gilles.

Conquerors of the Isles VS The King of Beasts

No Caption Provided

"Come now, I thought the king of wolves could tell when he's being hunted."

With Lycaon able to sense an incoming teleportation attack, he will bait them and let their physical and magical attacks pass through while he dodges and fires two small energy bursts at his oncoming assailants to scatter them should they actually be able to make it to him.

Passivity is a very, very bad response on Lycaon’s part. In fact his actions thus far are very close to what the Earls were hoping for.

Lycaon can phase through Eric’s teleport attack, fair enough. Though Eric will keep up the pressure forcing him to stay in his air form and consume mana, or die when he stops.

The bigger danger is that allowing Emma to drag him into her Dream World means conceding a rather big environmental advantage, as she can make anything she wishes come true within there. Which give be exceptionally good battlefield control.

“You’re right. My reception hasn’t been the best, even though such honored guests accepted my invitation. Please forgive this lady’s lack of thought with magnanimity.”

Seol Jihu was taken aback. He hadn’t said anything, yet the young lady seemed to have read his thoughts.

Her eyes then gently curled into a crescent shape as she raised both her hands.

Clap!

She clapped.

Tutururu~!

Seol Jihu almost fell backward in shock. It wasn’t just him, but everyone in the expedition team.

People filled up the palace instantly. They circled around the expedition team, sang, played music, and threw flower petals into the air.

“Don’t be so surprised.”

A muffled giggle rang out.

“This is the world of my mind.”

A dreamy voice flowed out rhythmically.

“Since this is a dream world, everything I wish for comes true.”

Roselle flicked her hand like the conductor of a symphonic orchestra, and the people disappeared in an instant. The palace regained its serenity.

“Did you like my welcoming show?”

She asked, her head slightly tilted.

Seol Jihu couldn’t say anything, setting aside whether he liked it or not. He had experienced all sorts of things thus far, but this was the first time he was experiencing anything similar to what he was experiencing today.

“Now.”

Roselle clapped again, and the scenery changed. The expedition team was now standing in the middle of a beautiful garden.

A white, round table was placed in front of them, with pretty steaming tea cups placed on top of it.

- Chapter 218

Additionally, intangibility is not an answer for Emma’s mental attacks at all, and if that is all Lycaon does he’s going to get put to sleep and promptly killed. Of note, Eadric and Emma have both been given Voyager of the Storm D as a mark of contract, which is boosting their agility to A. So Lycaon doesn’t have a speed advantage to outdraw them even without Charisma.

This however is still not the crux of the Earl’s attack. Eadric’s Noble Phantasm Traitor’s Reversal allows him to switch the places of objects with similar mass. In other words he can teleport Lycaon directly into his own attacks. This tactic could not be performed safely against Sebastian Moran, whose Marksmanship is tied to an EX skill that cannot be lowered, nevermind that it would be impossible to detect him to teleport in the first place. However Lycaon, as far as we know, is not drawing Marksmanship from an EX custom. So with Eadric lowering it to B, it will lose the properties that allow it to chase down teleporting opponents.

That said, just to be safe, Eadric is not going to switch Lycaon’s places with his own. Rather he’s going to switch Lycaon’s place with Thorkell in front of him. Which would fall under interception (since he is literally reacting and putting a wall between himself and Lycaon) rather than evasion. So even against Marksmanship A this should have a measure of success.

Emma can read thoughts and will be doing so throughout this exchange, which along with Eric’s Instinct makes them very well-suited for accurately timing Lycaon’s ranged attacks. Considering Roselle does this without thinking as a bad habit she’s not exactly diverting focus here.

“This is getting boring. Just give us our shit and let us go. Why did this bitch even invite us in the first place?”

Roselle spoke monotonously.

“Hiiiiiik!?”

Maria screamed.

Seol Jihu exclaimed inwardly.

‘No way.’

Maria slammed her head down and pleaded.

“I’m sorry! Please don’t kill me!”

“No.”

Roselle covered her mouth, smiled, then shook her head.

“I would have picked fault with it if you said it out loud, but you only thought it. It’s my fault for reading your mind without permission. It’s a bad habit of mine, you see.”

- Chapter 218

Finally, Lycaon is using Storm of Arcadia as an answer for Thorkell’s Mana Burst (Water) [Thorkell is faster so there’s little reason Lycaon can stop him from getting it off]. For one, if Eadric’s Espionage is successful, it will be reduced a rank, allowing Eadric’s A rank mana burst to just overpower it. Even if it’s not, both attacks do about the same thing (drain/nullify mana), so Lycaon would have to fire an equal quantity of mana just to cancel it out. That’s a full 80 mana.

In summation, the Earls goal is to either put Lycaon to sleep or drain him through either mana expenditure or teleporting him into his own attacks. And they are going to waste no time killing him once either condition has been achieved.

Gilles, Leviathan, and Bullets

The plan is for the Earls to be in a different dimension so they are unlikely to be in range of Gilles’ explosion, Leviathan’s ice blasts, or Moran’s bullet spam. But not everything goes as planned so I’ll put a section for the Earls’ survivability.

Gilles’ explosion is city block level. This will not bother Thorkell, who has small-town durability and multi-city block strength. In fact the effects of his Noble Phantasm Liðsmannaflokkr nullifies attacks below his strength level, so this attack most likely wouldn’t even interact with his durability. He also has 12 lives and healing.

The other Earls have city-block level durability, so taking it head-on would hurt them but not KO. Eadric should be unbothered given his Noble Phantasm The Acquisitive grants him a high level of healing, so a single attack on his durability tier isn’t doing anything.

Eric and Emma are just teleporting up. Eric is well-documented but Emma can do this as well:

With a laugh, the woman suddenly vanished.

“Blink?”

A high-rank spell that swapped two spaces with each other.

Vulgar Chastity was shocked that a magic spell of such level was activated without a chant.

- Chapter 340

This is also their answer for Leviathan, except Eric will make sure to grab Eadric for that one since he’d be in a bit more trouble. You may argue the AoE will make Leviathan’s attacks difficult to avoid in the confined Reality Marble, but if the attack is that indiscriminate there’s a risk of friendly fire.

Thorkell could offset Leviathan with his own mana burst but he’d rather save his mana for offense. So he’d just use his physical speed (with Natural Body activated he’s mach 35) to avoid, and if he gets hit he’ll just regenerate. I’m unsure the ice would even prevent him from breaking out with town-level strength, but Emma can toss a D rank ice-shard to shatter him if needed.

Clang!

A giant thorn of ice suddenly shot up from the ground and pierced through her stomach.

- Chapter 340

Liðsmannaflokkr will take care of the rest. And should also help survive even Moran's stronger attacks and resist Tragoúdi Aneípotis Thlípsis worst comes to worst.
