Sorry I didn't check this out when it was first made, but this looks really good. Arkham Batman is a very polarizing character on the vine so a thread like this existing as a frame of reference is important, even if it may not clear up inconsistencies with the character. Tag me when this is finished.
@nickzambuto: Haven't had solid internet connection till now. Anyway:
I already said this, Snake was not helpless. To say Snake was helpless is to say he was incapable of fighting after taking one slash to the arm, and that would be really disingenuous to Snake's toughness. Who knows what would have happened if he was alone and didn't have Raiden to worry about, but Snake relying on teamwork to exploit an opening on Vamp is just Snake's usual modus operandi; keeping calm and cool and fighting in the most efficient way possible. It's not Snake's fault Raiden failed to seize the opening when he had the chance ("Shoot him! What are you waiting for?!" indicates that Snake had been expecting Raiden to fire at Vamp's back this whole time). Instead of keeping cool and tactical, you would be more impressed if Snake panicked and started fist fighting Vamp by himself and exposed himself to Raiden's gunfire?
Are we talking about the same fight? I'm referring to this one:
Vamp swatted him aside like a fly...he was on the ground helpless and would've been killed if Vamp hadn't decided to savor the moment.
And yes obviously Karate Kid is more impressive than Vamp. When on Earth did I say otherwise and what on Earth does Karate Kid have to do with anything? Are you trying to say that just because Batman fought Karate Kid one time and wasn't completely pwned, he must be Karate Kid's equal and can also fist fight Kryptonians and shatter mountains?
"Wasn't completely pwned" is an understatement, he literally matched Val in an extended fight and they were in anti-grav which Val has actually invented martial arts for while Batman has no familiarity with it:
And I don't know how I can make this clearer, this is Earth Prime Karate Kid who can not fight Kryptonians. Completely different version. Seriously I wouldn't be mad if I hadn't explicitly stated that before and I don't want to spread misinformation. New Earth Karate Kid who can actually do that spanked Batman like a baby while amnesiac...rather like what Vamp did to Snake actually.
Because that's bullshit. You have horribly biased logic; just Snake only by his lowest showing ever which even then possesses context that makes it actually not unimpressive but just ignore that context completely, and simultaneously judge Batman by the greatest feat he's ever performed across 70 years of publication history as if that's just his standard performance that any writer would portray.
Can't Snake be held to the same standard? He hardly operates at physics defining tiers of martial arts throughout all the games he's been in, so why is one (very bad) instance against Vamp somehow the end all be all? Just because Batman's feats occur across a larger sample space doesn't mean the proportion times of he's operating at that level is any lesser.
Also sitting in a pool of water really has nothing to do with martial skill. Skill in general okay, but the fact that it has nothing to do with martial arts makes me hesitant to include it in any real skill discussion. Plus if we want to go off feats like that Batman stalemated Threeboot Karate Kid in his own element and while that Karate Kid wasn't fighting Kryptonians any time soon he could still break several kilotons of ice with one hit and ragdoll Colossal Boy. I'd say those are a lot more combat relevant than Vamp.
Also Roshi would fodderize all the characters from Revengance.
Great thread. I would've thought you'd add the bit in Crossfire where Mark's hurricane was shown to be blatantly city level and IIRC Wally stated dodging his lightning is hard (implying it is natural speed).
