@Yamata: believe it or not the "X-men: Proteus" is an excellent story too, taking place before dark phoenix, I bought it for 9.99 randomly and it got me hooked on the older comics. It's like 18.99 reg price, slick premiere hardcover, it looks awesome on the shelf too.

After reading the entire X-man TPB, I'm pretty sure she's latina, based on 3 or 4 different artists versions of her, she has big round eyes, small lips, facial structure is not african, permed curly brown hair. She is from LA, and a lot of mexican americans live there. Mutants!!!

@Yamata:

my favorite X-men story is Dark Phoenix from 1980, expect to be surprised by it's greatness. It has all the best X-men all in classic costumes, its a gem of a story.

Dark Phoenix Saga, easy! Probably the best Marvel story ever told. I'm a die hard 1990's X-men fan too (Onslaught, AoA, Fatal Attractions, X-Force, etc). Claremont's story is mythic, structured, suspenseful, action packed, different, basically everything you want in a good story and the art of John Byrne is one of my all time favorites. The story arc "X-men: Proteus" right before Dark Phoenix is equally as Good (also featuring Claremont and Byrne and contains a lot of set up for Dark Phoenix).

Gambit enjoyed teasing her, especially when they first met. He always wanted to steal a kiss and I think he liked the feeling it gave rogue.

I am reading the new X-man TPB from 1995, got me thinking; I am curious of her race or ethnic heritage. She is from Los Angeles USA, I know that much, is she African American, Mexican? Interesting discussion if there is not much proof of her actual ethnicity.

It pretty much comes down to if you are DC fan you will say lanterns win and Marvel fans will say Nova Corps... Also in 2 totally different worlds, if anything Nova Corps and Lanterns would team up not fight each other, so there! I win.
