@lan_fan:
"He was fated to destroy Asgard, sure, but Charles wasn't there, so who knows what would happen if he was there? You have a Galactus avatar, what if Galactus was there to stop Surtur? It depends on entirely the situation/scenario, right?"
Yes, I understand your point. But we can not compare Galactus to Xavier. And remember Surtur is plot driven, so he will destroy anything in his way to destroy Asgard. It is fated in the movie. Which opens a beehive of speculation. And fate ( and plots) appears very different in MCU than the comics which is a whole other debate.
"He talked with Thor on the opening scene, so he obviously has a working mind." True, but we can also make the speculation that this was also fated. Automations will respond to anything. We can also speculate that when he turned to mega Surtur that he indeed became a enhanced being. Meaning that he obviously gained more "powers". Now we are faced with what powers he gained. Did he just get taller? Hmmm speculation.
"Exactly my point." Agreed.
"Yeah, and you're speculating that he wouldn't get influenced by TP, so that kinda goes both ways doesn't it?" This gets us into a moot point.
"The most convincing argument so far, but being ancient doesn't really make his mind and consciousness different from regular humans or animals (unless shown otherwise). So I don't really see why Charles wouldn't affect him like he affected regular humans." Again another moot point. It alone boils down to opinion..again. We may have to speculate what beings that are strong enough to demolish Asgard in comparison to beings that are able to do so in the comics and are susceptible to TP. Although that again is another can of worms.
