Kiondra is the daughter of a Dathomirian witch and a Mirialan pirate. When she was still an infant her mother was forced to go into hiatus when the Jedi had discovered that the ancient sect of Dathomirian witches known as the Nightsisters had resurfaced. The Dathomirian witch feared for her daughter's future and did not want to risk Kiondra being captured, or even worse --killed-- so the infant girl was left in the care of the Mirialan pirate, who kept her safe in a secret chamber within his ship. The Mirialan then traveled across the star system wreaking havoc on several planets in an effort to create a diversion for the Nightsisters as they dispersed themselves throughout various quadrants of the galaxy. He was playing a deadly game of cat and mouse with the Jedi and had gained great notoriety for his actions, but after only just a few weeks they had caught up with him.
The Mirialan pirate had a fateful, and fatal, encounter with one Kael Jorbin, a young Jedi Knight fresh out of the academy who had been charged with the task of ending the pirate's terrorism. The two met on a barren planet and engaged in a short duel with the Jedi easily overpowering the Mirialan and ending his life quickly. As the Jedi knelt down to pay his last respects to his opponent he could hear the cries of a child nearby. He entered the Mirialan's ship and found the infant locked away in a room behind a secret trapdoor. He lifted her and secured her in one arm then studied her. The child was special. For some reason she was able to cloak herself from his senses but as she opened up to him he was able to sense the strong connection she had with the force. This astonished the Jedi as it seemed unusual to him for anyone to have such a strong affinity with the force as early as she had. The Jedi smiled and gave her the codename Starveil because her light was shrouded in darkness. He then exited the ship with her still in his arm, turning back to the body of her father, feeling greatly dispirited over the wrong he had done her; but it was too little too late, and therefore, he decided at that moment that he would inherit the responsibility over the child from the Mirialan. The child was taken back to the Jedi academy where the Jedi proceeded to explain the situation to his superiors. They were unsure whether the he should train the child at the time, as her light was shrouded from even them, but they did allow him to care for her. Once the child was old enough to begin training Kael again appealed to his superiors who finally agreed to let him begin her training --but only under the condition that he kept the details of her father's death a secret from her. Tragic events like this were well known to cause imbalance to force sensitives like Kiondra and send them down the path of the dark side.
As a padawan the girl proved to be a slow learner, at least at first. She fell behind the others in her age group when it came to lightsaber training. This displeased her master but he knew it was crucial for her to learn the art as it was synonymous with the Jedi. His faith in his padawan was mainly in her force wielding abilities as they were natural and quite impressive. The girl was able to lift large and heavy objects at a young age and was able to perform other force great force feats including force projection, force stealth and concealment, force cloak, force body, force meld, force sight, precognition, shadow vision, alter damage, animal friendship, electric judgement, force confusion, force flash, force orb, mind trick, and revitalize just to name a few. Kiondra's force wielding powers had set a new standard for the academy and soon her master's admiration for her abilities grew into religious faith. He was sure she would move on to greatness and be remembered as a vital contributor to the balance of the force as her force wielding power appeared to exceeded his own. Kiondra on the other hand reciprocated her master's feelings of admiration as she was awe-inspired by his skill with the lightsaber.
Soon the two became a powerful duo as the years came and went and were often deployed on various missions together which should have allowed a healthy growth for their relationship but the padawan became enamored with the master. The master, however, viewed the padawan as his daughter. So as the padawan matured, she took it upon herself to take her master's name as her own, effectively becoming Kiondra Jorbin. The growth of her force wielding power lead Kael to suggest that she offer her services to the Jedi sentinels but it was at this time that her skill with the lightsaber took on an unforeseen jump in its own evolution. In a short amount of time Kiondra became quite adept with her lightsaber, as well as other melee weapons. It was apparent that the name Starveil was perfect for Kiondra as her potential seemed to know no bounds. This made Kael regret sending her off to become a Jedi sentinel, however. He felt she would have better served the order by his side as a fellow Jedi guardian instead.
Regardless of this, what was done was done, but Kiondra was still infatuated with her master and the thought of long term separation from Kael only made matters worse for her. She was no longer able to restrain herself. The Sentinels, however, had orders from the council of first knowledge to begin preparations to send her on her first mission. Feeling that time was against her, Kiondra rushed to her master on the day she was supposed to leave and began to confess her true feelings for him. She was met with rejection, however. Kael began to explain to her that she was like a daughter to him. This left Kiondra feeling heartbroken, but the pain did not stop there. Kael's guilt for what he had done to her father many years before had begun to surface, along with the truth of her past. Kiondra's heartache was soon replaced with rage but she still had an affinity towards her master, and thus, she was sad and angry yet confused. The man she thought she loved was the same man who had killed her father, and for all she knew, he may have killed the rest of her family as well. She broke away from her master with tears pouring from her eyes, and anger boiling deep within but there was still a mission to do so she left the academy and decided that she would figure out what to do with Kael upon her return. As she left, Kael could sense the dark side consuming her.
Kiondra's first mission as a Jedi Shadow took her back to her home planet of Dathomir. She was to investigate the land and its residents for any intel on the infamous Nightsisters who were rumored to still be active since their dispersal over a decade before. When Kiondra arrived on Dathomir she encountered unusual terrain, bizarre life forms, and various types of strange plant life. After navigating her way through a jungle she stumbled upon a secret entrance to one of the underground compounds of the Nightsisters. There she found records documenting the long history of the sect, and at first was excited to learn about her mother's people, but the anger she felt back at the academy began to boil within her once again as she discovered that it was the Jedi who killed many of her ancestors and drove the rest into hiding, before taking her back to their academy to become a tool for their own agenda. Kiondra was furious and her fall from the light side of the force was completed then. The enraged Jedi locked herself away in the compound for months, learning the deadly Juyo variant of form VII lightsaber combat from various manuals. Once she had learned all she could she then vowed to destroy the entire Jedi order, saving her former master for last.

As a Jedi, Kiondra was well aware of the dark side of the force, as well as the existence of the Sith. She also knew she could not take on the entire Jedi order using only the light side of the force, and certainly could not so by herself. So, Kiondra started a journey across the galaxies in search of a powerful sith lord capable of advancing her abilities over the force to unfathomable levels.
