Blah Story and long co-feature 2

The Good If you really liked the Jeremiah Arkham story from Arkham Reborn story line then you will most likely this story. The Bad This is the second part of this story line so if you haven’ picked up the last one don’t even bother getting this one you will be very lost. If you didn’t read the Arkham Reborn miniseries then don’t bother either, much of this plot is tied back to the mini’s story line. Some characters (namely Batman and Gordon) feel very out character in this issue. Overall Even ...

Let's just hope this issue is a minor hiccup this series 0

The good Crazy plot points will keep you shocked up until the very end of this issue. Catwoman’s sister shows her uber crazy side and it is fun to read. The Bad While the plot is grand, the transition from storyline to storyline doesn’t flow well at all, this makes it very choppy. The art isn’t as good as the last issue, especially in regards to Ivy and Catwoman. The look on the character just doesn’t seem as polished as it usually does. It wouldn’t surprise me to find out if this issue was ba...

Zatanna Is 'Magical In This New Series 1

The Good The scene in the story where Zatanna looks into a man’s head to unlock the memory of the murder he witnessed is quite beautifully drawn by Roux. You feel like you are being sucked right into the memory right along with Zatanna. The scene where Dini sets up the villain Brother Night and shows his rogues’ gallery is well done and quickly sets up a very evil picture of the Brother Night and his minion’s right from the start of the issue. The confrontation between Brother Night when Zatan...

This Story Stays Just As "Resilient" As The Last 0

The Good The story that Tony tells where he talks about how he acted after winning Playboys Man of the Year award is funny, sad and telling all in a couple of pages of dialogue and art. As usual Fraction writes with a lot of dialogue that I really enjoy seeing for a change in a comic these days. The flashback scene showing how Tony fired an employee during a public demonstration is really enthralling and a touch funny. This scene also sets up the back story of Tony’s newest business move. The...

Romita makes Steve Rogers look like a blond Steve Jobs 0

The Good Really funny parts that make the story feel more down to earth and add warmth to what could be a very cold story without it. The Spiderman and Hawkeye conversation about Hawkeye’s return to his title of Hawkeye mantel is the best example of this though it is shown a various points throughout. The splash page showing Steve Rogers recruiting the avengers is good and comes across with a strong wit and charm. Marvel’s back cover advertiser this week if Land O’ Frost lunch meats with iron ...

Little New Information, But Still Makes For A "Bright Day" 0

The Good The Martian Manhunter scene with Dr. Erdel’s daughter that is heartwarming and well written. There is a murder scene that comes out of the blue and shocks the heck out of you. It really has a lot of meat to the scene that makes the scene seem very real, and brutal. The death masks of Hawkman and Hawkgirl are really cool and the thought that they are looking at masks made of plaster over their dead faces from another life is quite fascinating. This makes for a really good section. Th...

Birds of Prey is BACK!!! with a big (good) bang 0

The Good Oh where do I begin? First off the issue starts off with a dramatic sequence that will have you drawn in hook, line, and sinker right off the bat. The art is KILLER. Ed Benes is on the top of his game. It’s not only him but the whole art team. They give the book a very well flowing, glossy and liquid, beautiful feel.   This book is by far the best looking book out of DC this week. Ends with a good cliffhanger, you want more after it’s over. And as usual with her work, Gail Simone puts...

Humor, Horror and the Occasional Corpse 0

The Good This issue continues the AWESOME storyline set up by the previous issue. (#9) We haven’t really seen this fun of a storyline in this titles first few issues. Hopefully this level of storytelling will continue on in the book for issues to come. This ending/cliffhanger is a great and makes you impatient for next month’s issue The art in this issue complements the story quite well also. The Bad This is part 2 of the story arc so if you haven’t bought the issue that preceded this one you ...

The Fun But Head-Scratching Return of Bruce Wayne 0

The Good Um...Bruce is returning. Don’t get me wrong the Dick Grayson era has been really enjoyable but I’m sure everyone (including myself) is excited to see Bruce Wayne return and more intriguing how Bruce comes back. About half way through the book at the staple the story (and the art) pick up and the book starts to feel more like a Batman book. It was at this point that I started to get on board the story train so to speak. Past the middle of the book a fight scene happens that really dra...

Bruce and the AESOME Undead! 0

Okay here‘s the thing: I haven’t been reading Batman Confidential for a few months previous to this. Why you ask? It’s because the last story arc in this title sucked royally. I hated the Sam Keith issues that have gone on for the last few months, and because this is one of the only titles featuring Bruce as batman I was upset…I missed him. So when I heard that the new story line was going to be featuring vampires I expected this issue to be a “jump on the vampire bandwagon” I was totally wron...
