Wonder how Superman fans feel about Lex effecyively serving as the Martian Manhunter villain instead of being a Superman foe.

I like how Snyder writes both J'onn and Luthor so I'm OK with it for now but I'll be ticked if Luthor just ignores Superman completely. The dynamic between the two is still leagues better and more compelling than what Snyder can come up with for J'onn and Lex.

Fortress of Solitude getting a refit under Bendis

https://www.bleedingcool.com/2018/06/07/details-dc-nation-july/

The current one is definitely very forgettable, so it is a welcomed change. The classic SA one and the 78 movie one are still the best.

But the current one is basically a refitted 78 movie one :P After Up, Up and Away the Fortresss shifted to a Donner style ice fortress with slightly varying style updates and has basically been that way ever since.

Not exactly, Its very inconsistent in style because not even the artists know how to draw it. Sometimes it looks like a dome with spikes and others like a diamond on a pedestal, there is no standard to fit it too, and both don't look as good as the classic alternatives. Like everything related to New 52 Superman, a mess (not a dig at the character, but the editorial inconsistency and lack of a coherrent world)

Liked issue 2, but it did feel more disjointed than 1. Its definitely a chapter that will read better in a collection. The three artists didn't help, even though they were all top talent.

It reminds me of Bendis Daredevil, some chapters were amazing cliffhangers, some deep characterization and some were clearly set-up. Since I read most issues of DD in trade I didn't feel the decompression in the first read through.

Personally I am ok with it. But I will be furious if Superman and Lex don't have any interactions, like when Lex joined the Justice League under Johns were Superman's whole arc to his greatest foe joining was around 5 pages long.

@squalleon: Maybe. I would have thought Highfather would be part of any group like this, but I guess not.

I think this group is more focused in releationships between major powers of the Earth 0 universe. It feels like a universal UN meeting.

Anyone know who all the members of the Circle are? The Guardian is Appa Ali Apsa, I'm pretty sure the guy with the goggles is Sardath from Rann, and the guy with the flowing red hair and the Scarlet-Witch-like helm is Myand'r, Starfire's father. I'm not sure who the others are. I think maybe the guy on the far right is from Krakkl's world?

No Caption Provided

I think the mask/helmet guy is from Thanagar. Since he is next to Sardath and Hawkworld will be part of the space opera Bendis is going for. But he doesn't look like any character I know, I even Searched in the wiki about Thanagar's residents.

The image of the Circle, according to Bendis is the start of a year-long story that will shift the focus of DC's cosmic adventures, pulling focus to Superman and connecting him with various corners of the DC Universe.

"That is a very important image for the DC Universe going forward," Bendis told ComicBook.com. "It's called The Circle, and what they've done over the years, and what Rogol's history with them is and how it connects to the uber history of the DC Universe, will play out going forward in Superman #1. It's this massive Superman epic that takes us our whole first year."

"Literally, by the end of the first year of Superman, the entire galactic mass of the DC universe is going to be shifted from what happened, and Superman is going to be right in the center of it," Bendis teased. "It's a very big story, and it touches the Green Lantern story, it touches Hawkworld, it touches every single corner of the DC universe, including parts we'll just be introducing."

Interesting, here is the link.

I don't know what Bendis' run will end up being, but he certainly hits the right notes when it comes to interviews.

Superman vs Space illuminati is a great idea. Especially since it makes Superman the underdog against intergalactic empires and inserts long lost sci-fi elements into the main Superman title.

Liked the new character, that's obviously there to complete the "Superman romance triangle" formula.

We know it doesn't go anywhere because of Doomsday Clock, so why even have it?

There are many reasons why, to humanize the family and Superman, to invite investment in the family, give Lois and Clark a challenge real couples have, and even if the suspense is half-gone because of the infinitely delayed D.C. that doesn't mean the ride won't be entertaining.

BENDIS IS HERE!

Read it, liked it, Bendis has a good voice for Superman. Unfortunately due to the heavy promotion and previews, you can guess or know were some threads might go, so surprises are a bit out of the equation.

I think a casual reader, who doesn't read interviews, press releases etc, will enjoy it a lot more.

Liked the new character, that's obviously there to complete the "Superman romance triangle" formula.

Does anyone know what he thought of Man of Steel? Can't seem to find his review anywhere.
