Top 10 Best Superhero Movies

WARNING: This list may spark controversy from those who force their opinion. Keep an open mind, as I am open to debate.

  • Tobey Maguire pulled off arguably the best superhero performance I've ever seen. Emotionally powerful, I tear up at the scene where Peter tells the truth to Aunt May, one of the best villains in comic book movie history, great/witty dialogue, awesome fight scenes, filled with deep themes about anger, responsibility and corruption and a satisfying ending. This, The Dark Knight Rises, Watchmen and Daredevil are the only superhero films to be some of my top 50 favorite all-time movies.

  • So good, it managed to make me completley ignore the fact that they made dumb changed to Bane. Extremely smart and full of great symbolism and themes, and the only performance in the Nolan trilogy where I actually loved Bale. The scene where Alfred quits to save Bruce's life is one of the best scenes in film history in my mind. I know it sounds silly, but it really is. Smart twist ending as well that was really emotional and surprising.

  • I actually liked this more than the graphic novel, though both are masterpieces. The smartest and deepest character study of any of the films on the list, with truly emotional and heartbreaking moments. Of course, don't be fooled. This film doesn't just have heart...It had a bleeding, severed heart ripped out of someone's chest...In other words, it's bloody. Fantastic acting by Jackie Earle Haley as Rorschach...Though I still want to see Benicio Del Toro in the role. >:(

  • Please don't kill me...Please. But in all honesty, I LOVE this movie! Michael Clarke Duncan delivers the best damn villain performance I've ever seen, and while Affleck isn't perfect, he is still a pretty damn good casting choice and one of the few roles I actually LIKE him in. The dialogue is really gritty and well done for a superhero movie, the score is awesome and quite fitting, the fight scenes are fantastic on level with some of the best I've seen in a comic book movie, the characters are fairly well developed and the atmosphere is really dark and unique, like the Miller comic book run. But honestly...I have a family, I don't want to die.

  • Only a 10 minute short and this film is one of the best superhero films ever. Thomas Jane will ALWAYS be the greatest Punisher, he and Tobey Maguire are my all-time favorite hero portrayals. The short film has a really deep message about the line between vigilantism and actually being a hero, while still adding some rather brutal yet kick ASS violence and action. A must watch, and you have no excuse not to watch it since it is FREE

  • Yes, I am an ENORMOUS fan of the Raimi Spidey movies...1 and 2 anyway. Even if Spider-Man wasn't as good as Spider-Man 2, or Attack of the Clones, the other big 2002 blockbuster, it's still a damn great movie. Tobey will always be the best Spider-Man, and while the film isn't as deep and smart as Spidey 2, there is still quite a lot of brainpower. The dialogue is really charming, as is the characters of Spider-Man, MJ and Uncle Ben. Add in some great effects and a side character death (Uncle Ben) that I actually really care about, and you've got one hell of a superhero movie.

  • The concept of a superhero from hell is a brilliant idea...So why do we only have 1 movie from this genre on the list?! Anyways, artistically beautiful film, deep themes about stereotypes, responsibility, honor and choice, really deep and developed characters, great soundtrack, interesting mythology, and outstanding performances from everybody on the cast.

  • What can I say other than it KICKS ASS! It's funny, it's smart, it's extremely well acted. It's a great movie. Nicolas Cage really resurrects his career with a fine performance as Big Daddy, and Chloe Moertz just steals the show as Hit Girl. One of the only child actors I can actually give not one, but two thumbs up. Aaron Johnson is also incredibly likeable as the lead, even when getting his face soaked in all that glorious blood. Did I mention the film actually has a love interest who ISN'T annoying and a relationship that's actually DEVELOPED and that I CARE about? The jetpack was annoying, but forgivable, as nearly everything else works.

  • Dirty Laundry may be the best Punisher movie, but the 2004 Thomas Jane film was still a damn good film. It has all the violence, depth and edge that true Punisher fans crave. Did I mention Thomas Jane is the best Punisher ever? War Zone on the other hand....Eh.

  • Yep that's right. I have Daredevil AND Ang Lee's Hulk on a top 10 superhero movie list. No idea why people disliked this one. Bana is by far the best Hulk, it is filled with extremely smart themes and developed characters (I think my heart skipped a beat during the Nolte/Bana argument at the end.), some satisfying action and some of the best dialogue in superhero film history. Oh and by the way, I bought my bullet proof vest, so I'd recommend you aim for the head. ;-)
