I am not "new" to comics, but I have not been reading them for about half a year. (I usually read comics on an "off and on" basis: I will sometimes read comics for a few months, stop for about a year, read for half a year, stop for two months, etc.) When I read comics, I read mostly Batman and other "dark" DC (and the occasional Marvel) titles. I primarily stop buying comics because they are rather expensive. To decrease the amount of money I spend, I would like to know of some well-written and well-drawn titles (as I said: preferably "dark" Batman, other DC, and X-Men titles) that do not require 27 tie-ins to complete the story. Please "reply" to this post so that I know of your response. Thank you!
