I would say that Marvel started going slowly more and more downhill about 10-12 years ago. The whole trend of building around events which happen too often and override the creative power of many of their writers started almost 30 years ago though.
@takenstew22: I think the old Eternity put him(back when he was just Galan) into some sort of protective metallic egg and then after some matter of time(which was long enough for the Watchers to come about and see when it opened) Galan came out as Galactus. That was the original story of how Galactus survived and became who he is which was told in Thor #161 I believe it was. I own it but don't want to look it up.
OT: yes it is the worse run i ever see and i generaly defend aaron
Well to me it's hard to have a truly great story without good art supporting it. To me the art gives the story life in many ways. The idea of a villain who hunts down gods has been done twice before in Thor's history I think. Gorr just took the butchery up a notch and then had the idea of the god bomb. The art imo is what gave it that mythical type of feel.
His Hulk run was pretty terrible as well, no? Original Sin? lol
Jason creativity range is nothing special, (even his recent best story Gorr* was somehow inspired in Desak) but where he is really terrible is at the execution.
Avengers (1,000,000 BC) is probably the best example to describe how terrible Jason can be, Avenger Odin!?! Please...
*Despite all i still think Gorr original arcs were great... Yes the art and tone of the comic helped a lot but the story was pretty good too.
I actually think people underrate how important Ribic's art was to that whole run. With a substandard artist I don't think that storyline would be highly regarded at all. imo it was ok story wise but Ribic's art is why it is remember as a great arc. The way he drew Gorr and especially OKT.
I think Batman can potentially be better but Dune is going to suffer from really only being half of a movie story wise with the second one ever being made far from a certainty. So that will work against it.
I agree that only was the black order out of character for him but everything from Infinity on was a complete derailment of how his character had progressed over the previous 20 years. They just made him randomly back into his 70's self character wise and added in the order perhaps at the behest of the mcu.
It doesn't help that Brock is known for having a semi weak chin. One good shot from either is going to put him down and then it's a 2 on 1 against a guy who is semi defenseless on the ground. Even if he shoots and gets a take down on one guy he then has his back to the other guy while he is trying to ground and pound the other which wouldn't work. Brock has almost no chance at all of winning this fight because he lacks quick ways to take guys out.
