Did this event get the short end of the stick? I thought this was originally this year's big event... Now with Civil War II coming out it seems like there's not much relevance with Standoff anymore.
@Feartheliving: I'm okay with that as long as there's acknowledgment of their existence. I understand that there are moments where characters need to leave the scene to push stories forward, but it bothers me when that push suddenly makes them non-existent.
The perfect example is Flash... I love that show, but the departure of Barry's dad made no sense! From a writers standpoint I get it, but have him phone call him once in a while... We don't even have to listen in on the conversation. I hope the departure of Jesse doesn't become that too.
I am on board with having the family there, but if they have to leave for whatever reason, make sure they don't stop existing.
More speedsters are hinted at, which makes me think that the final battle against Zoom will need Wally West, Jesse Quick (she was injected with Velocity 9), Barry, and hopefully the real Jay Garrick (I'm still holding out hope that he's not dead-dead) to work together...
A lot of these are really creative... I love how cosplaying has become more than just dressing up as a character. Now it's "how much can I make my costume stand out in a place where this character will be cosplayed more than once".
Kudos to all of these!
Personal favorites: Ariel with the nemo tank and Warrior Spider-Gwen!
@ravenvice01: If that's the case, then you're right... Marvel should go ahead and make those big budget movies and keep Widow on the sidelines. If not, then I say they give a female Bond-type movie to ScarJo to bring Black Widow a solo outing.
@Feartheliving Yeah, unlike the actual potential Black Widow has to a solo movie, Renner will most likely not get a movie. As for his family, I said this in the blog:
Clint Barton in the MCU is a family man, and while others want his family to go the Ultimate Comics route, I say embrace it. Part of the main cast should include the very brave and supporting Laura Barton. She's a character I find very interesting since she supports her husband's heroics while still worrying for his well-being. Linda Cardellini's reprise of this character could fill the "wife of the fireman" role for the story.
...and I stand by it! There needs to be no marriage drama, or all those fallbacks writers go to when they don't know how to write a marriage. Laura Barton should be there supporting him full-on. Sure, lets go to a point where she and her kids become targets and Clint can go all Taken on his adversaries.
You want him truly on his own... How 'bout he decides to leave his family behind to keep them safe. Living on his own in a NY building he owns and a dog he rescued. With the acknowledgement that he's constantly communicating with his wife and kids. Fixed!
