I'm just hoping that we get something GOOD from this. As people have noted the last time something invaded Storm's body we got the galactic core feat so now that she's in this position and now she's a literal Goddess I'm hoping they finally let her take the next step and evolve beyond flesh and blood.

Given that GS: Storm is going to set up what she's doing for the next couple of years this is an all or nothing game. If this flops then its game over for her. Now more than ever this is the perfect opportunity for Marvel to throttle Storm to the forefront of Mutantdom and begin setting up her presence for the MCU.

The OG leading lady coming back to take her throne.

Russell did an interview. Here are the bits that pertain to Storm.

AIPT: In an interview with Anthony Blackwood for Marvel.com, you mentioned Jean and Storm are your “favorites.” So they’re both your favorite X-Men characters?

Russell: Yeah, I’d say it’s a tie! I’ve gone back-and-forth over the years, but if I had to pick one, I’d pick Jean. But I love them both!

AIPT: Jean’s one of my favorites too. And what do you love about Ororo?

Russell: I love that she’s this regal goddess–but also a switchblade-wielding thief. That dichotomy is very cool. Her character is really rich with a lot of layers, her character design is incredible and her powers are really fun to draw.

My favorite Storm stories are probably from the Paul Smith era of the Chris Claremont run–where she starts doubting her powers and has that amazing fight in the Morlock tunnels leading up to her punk transformation. It’s a great arc for her.

AIPT: Something else Jonathan talked about in his last X-Men Monday appearance was Giant-Size X-Men: Storm, which he said “really sets up what we’re going to be doing with her for the next couple of years.” That’s all we know so far. What else can you tease about the story? And is it finished?

Russell: Yep, it’s all drawn! Right now it just needs color and dialogue.

The issue picks up where the Jean and Emma issue leaves off, and Storm leads a team on a mission to save her life. This was done Marvel Style too, but the plot is more involved with Jonathan’s larger plans.

Full interview. Mostly bits about his love for Jean and his favorite comics/issues.

Overall I'm absolutely THRILLED to learn that Storm won't be KOed for the entire issue and even with all of this is still going to be able to lead a team!

So the last time Storm had a malevolent force inside her body that was killing her we got the Galactic core feat. If they don't use this virus to finally allow Storm to transcend her human form then it is a colossally wasted opportunity. It's time the X-Office puts a horse in the race when it comes to Storm's divinity. If Jeen/Jean Grey can become the Pink Ranger and go toe-to-toe with a hungry Galactus then I don't think giving Storm an elemental or divine form is asking too much.

It's time for the Goddess to not have to worry about being "killed"/KOed by a well thrown brick to the head.

Did Storm do anything today?

Nothing this week. And next week looks just as dry.

X-men/F4 and Black Panther are on the 25th so that might be something.

It wouldn't be beyond the scope of Storm's power to say bend lightwaves around her to make herself invisible, but it's not something we've seen her do yet.

Honestly a whole book can be written about what Storm should be able to do but hasn't done yet.

"She can also bend light using moisture in the air and her manipulation of mist and fog to appear partially transparent, and in later comics, nearly invisible."

I keep seeing this on her wiki's at one point in time this same phrase was posted in Storm bio on Marvel.com

So when has she done this ability?

She doesn't. At best she's been able to summon a thick pea-soup fog that rendered enemies basically blind. But Storm isn't Invisible Woman by any stretch.

@stormcell

Hmm that is a possibility. As I said in a previous post if you really look at the issue it was Emma who triggered every attack from Storm's defense. My only thing is that if Storm's defense was self aware enough to single-out Emma why was Jean consistently caught in the crossfire? Why not just throw full force at her and leave Jean in peace. Ignoring the fact that another point this issue did was try to tell us that Jean and Emma are in a better place relationship wise. Jean going solo would have mirrored the #121 issue more accurately.

Another pov is that while her mind did initially accept Jean as an ally due to the Inferno memory the fact Jean continued to help Emma negated that relationship which is why they both caught Hell.

I'm going off the assumption that what they were facing were purely instinctual responses considering Storm was in a coma.

-------

Discussion aside I really love how Wednesday was such a good day for Storm. Not only did the Storm naysayers get a crash course on how her mental defenses are very much intact and extremely formidable but we also see Storm fully embracing and going into detail on her energy sight/manipulation. Something folks love to say has magically disappeared.

@son_of_storm: Just state the Issue. Giant Size X-Men: Jean and Emma

Easy Peasy

Lol I was thinking of doing something like that and only adding few scans just to show along with a description of the issue itself.

Please include this into her TP resistance !!!!!!!!!!!

I mean it was never really a competition in the first place merely an observation of the story.

Lol I'll have to ask and see the proper way to include it. Given comicvine's rule about posting scans. I mean the entire issue is pretty much one giant feat for Storm.

indeed most of the things that happened to Storm on GS should be included in her TP resistance feats.

until the moment i'm sure Storm could defeat Emma Frost without much difficulty

But that was always a given. The only people arguing against that are basically being delusional and using low ball instances to try and usurp years of established canon. While it is a fact that if Storm isn't ready for a psychic assault it can hurt her but Emma (even when caught off guard) has never dropped Ororo to the point she couldn't fight back.

And honestly it's not as if Storm would need much precision. A simple wind gust to slap Emma off her feet would be more than enough of a distraction to break off her assault.
