@mark_stephen: If we start questioning super hero parents shouldn't we then question any super hero keeping that secret idenity from a non-powered significant other? If the wrong person found out the identity, that SO could be in mortal danger and they wouldn't even know it. It's not really something that i see get thrown at Batman or Spider-Man, so if they get a pass then so should powered parents no?

To quote Butters from South Park "Simpsons did it" or to put it another way. It's been done. At best, Marvel is only catching up to where DC is or has already been.

You know I think I've seen like 3 South Park episodes, but even I know that the point of that episode was to poke fun at those who think that just because they're first then no one else should try something similar. By your logic they should just cancel all comics because they're all about costumed heroes trying to do good. Not all moms are the same, they don't all have the same story to tell, let's not be so reductive. I mean Jessica Jones is another person named Jessica who is also a super hero that had a baby, but these two series couldn't be any more different. Now I haven't read the series your talking about but I doubt these two are carbon copies of one another.

No, I understand I might be wrong, I'm just not ready to take the chance. After all it would only take a word from Ulysses for Carol to show up outside of Jessica's door with a super powered team and poor Jess wouldn't stand much of a chance and I don't want to see that. It probably won't happen but as I've learned over the past few years with marvel storylines honor, friendship, loyalty and just words to the writers, easily junked when the plot needs it and no matter what horrible thing is done it's easily forgiven when the plot needs it. So while I hope the book keeps going strong for you I'll wait a few years before I start picking it up out of the discount bins. Also I've found that my buying or not buying a book has zero impact on that book.

But...but every votes counts and all that jazz! Heh, no worries, I hope you do enjoy the series if you get around to it.

@slimebeherit: Yes, one page. One page of an entire series that somehow showed a pregnant woman fighting crime and treating as though it were a perfectly acceptable thing to do and no enemy ever went for a gut shot.

That entire issue dealt with her realizations of motherhood and she never put herself in danger while she was pregnant(also Carol gave her hi-tech body armor just in case), the one time she had to hero it up, was when she found herself in a hostage situation. Still, I think the most important distinction is that this is a super hero comic about a person who happens to be a mother, not a comic about being motherhood.

No, the story and the art look ok, but where I once would have been able and willing to take a chance now I just don't feel up to it. Marvel's main story philosophy turns me off, I really expect at some point someone will grab Jess's kid for experimentation and I'd almost be willing to bet it would be Carol and SHIELD being the ones who do it. Grim and gritty betrayal will show up in every book sooner or later. So I feel that if I get hooked on the character and the book I'll be just setting myself up for that and I don't enjoy those storylines. Beyond that though I just can't afford 3.99 for what is essentially a short read. I wish I could, and someday I might again, but right now I'm too much on the edge. Giving me twice the pages or half the cost would do it, but I can understand why marvel isn't going to do either.

If anyone close to Jess ever did something to that baby, it would be a wrap for that relationship, so I don't think there will be a betrayal like that. The next arc deals with the Hobgoblin so if anyone is gonna kidnap the baby it will be him. It's weird that you say Marvel's main story philosophy always deals with some kind of personal betrayal, that hasn't been my experience, unless someone is being corrupted by an evil force somehow (ie Hydra Cap). In terms of length this series has been on par with most books. It's not text heavy like Ultimates or Vision, but it's definitely not a short read like lets say, the Spidey series. If you've reached you budget thats fine, we've all been there, but's a bit unfair to levy that on the quality of the book. This series is one of that best that Marvel is putting out right now. If you can't afford to add to your monthly books, i'd still recommend you read it on Marvel Unlimited, it's a really fun series.

@kid_omega_prime: Flashback story, so we think this story will illustrate his fate.

I'll admit it doesn't look too bad, but I don't think it looks worth 3.99 either.

What does a comic need for you to be worth $3.99?

I enjoyed the previous issue, and this looks good as well, but really need to hit a home-run with issue 4.

Great series, it wavered a bit for me in the Wolfcap/Serpent Society arc but ever since it has been consistently good. And yeah... I felt pretty crummy that it turned out that Hydra Cap is conspiring to get his shield back, it feels like everyone is against Sam right now. It's gonna be equally fun and infuriation (infunriating?) knowing that Rogers is toying with his friends.
