"Funny how bizarre cultural customs can become commonplace -- why, on my planet, we habitually unsense the vibrative patterns of the native halazzek!" she let out a genuine little laugh, then paused when she realized that Claudia had no way of knowing what she was talking about. She then silently shrugged, taking another quick gulp of the breakfast dish.

The small-framed green girl nodded, offering another smile as the food arrived. She prodded at the unfamiliar dish briefly before lifting a gob of it with her hand, cupping it into her mouth and letting it glide down her throat without swallowing. "I find human proficiency with consuming the unborn curious, though quaint."

@17th_knight:

"That will be fine, thank you," the alien stated, managing to sit back down and exhaling. "I'm surprised by your nonchalance. Have you encountered other non-terrestrial entities in your travels?"

@17th_knight:

"I am able to transmute consumable items into energy," Silhouette answered. "It is a similar, though less complex, process to what your kind go through." She paused, her expression contemplative. "In other words, yes."

Friend?

Silhouette furrowed her brow, thinking it over for a moment, her enlarged blood vessels allowing her brain to process enormous amounts of thought in a short time. She did not yet know this woman well, besides the small amount she had been told. The concept of a friend was one foreign to the Xul'ar, a race of entities that were so similar that they valued their individuality over their companionship. She had acquaintances, even pleasurable ones in the case of Paragon. But the idea of a friend was strange to her. "Friend... yes."

"Then you are unique among your kind," Silhouette stood up again, seemingly uncomfortable with being immobile and pacing around the room once more. "Still, a campaign to connect your company to the rest of the cosmos will not be without its rewards... even if it also includes new enemies."

@17th_knight:

"An unusually generous gesture for one of your kind, who so value your possessions," the alien tilted her head, watching the human's fingers click away with only a rudimentary understanding of what they were actually doing.

Silhouette smiled again, though once more her expressions seemed forced. Social calculations, logical expressions to seem natural. The Xul'ar expressed themselves via subtle changes in their vibrations... vibrations most humans didn't pick up on. "It's a face, we need. A figurehead. In return, I will share certain coordinates in order to create audiences with Eeogiex and, if I can arrange it, perhaps even travel to one of the more diversely-populated planets."

"Then we should get along well. I apologize -- I am still learning more about the customs of Earth." She moved to the other side of the desk, sitting down and not bothering to smooth her skirt out, offering a more-than-passable glimpse at her panties. Her eyes stayed fixated on everything around her, having not been in such a lavishly-appointed area as a guest. "In any event, I have no plans just yet for a complete endeavor. I am merely sowing seeds of the presence of the Xul'ar, even if I am the only one currently present."

"I'm not troubled by the concepts of peace and war. They are not valid concerns among my people -- conflicts occur, they fade, and with them comes change. Loss of life provides bounty for the survivors." Silhouette blinked again, seeming entirely genuine. "But your enterprise has a respect for tradition, which I, in turn, respect. It is those who seek too much, too quickly, that threaten to disrupt the balance of life and the cosmos. Things must move slowly, and steadily, in order to progress at a natural rate."

The green teen paused at a houseplant, examining and then gesturing to it. "The growth of these houseplants is kept in check so that it does not overgrow, take over, and disrupt the balance. So it is with civilization."
