GFT Wonderland #31 Review

The Good

After many issues of Callie and Violet Liddle on the run and fighting against the forces of Wonderland. We finally are seeing their lives afterwards, with the last story arc showing Callie as the White Queen of Wonderland. Now in this one shot we get to see what Violet is doing in the real world, trying to live without her mom around her all the time and getting a job. On top of trying to live a normal life, Wonderland keeps coming back and continues to play tricks on her mind. That is what makes this issue a fun read is seeing Violet in those situations. We are finally seeing a character that we known from issue one and seen her character develop in a different situation, other then running from the crazy psychotic people of Wonderland. We also get to see her thought process, as well as people of Wonderland who may or may not be stalking her. One of the coolest and subtle things in this issue is when she starts to go crazy and thinking about Wonderland is still after her, the panels break apart and are at weird angles and change when she is in a normal thought process.

The Bad

It might not seem like much to make it go down one star, but it doesn't seem like much happens despite what I like about it. Which leads to my next point which is about the last panel text. Which if you are reading the main Grimm Fairy Tales series you already know Violet joins the new school for new Falseborns. Seeing how she gets their is interesting, but with hints in GFT and how the Wonderland series is you could tell what may happen.

The Verdict

GFT Wonderland #31 is a great break from the crazy, while still keeping a little bit of it to make it a fun read. Seeing Violet trying to live a normal life after everything that happened to her was a nice change in pace. And that is also its downfall, with not having much progression in the overall story and a ending that we were waiting to see actually happen, in a way was kind of a let down.

I give this issue a 4 out of 5 stars.
