Very nice. Personally, I get a bit of a "horror movie" vibe off of this trailer, though given Kilgrave's power and nature, I think that's fitting. And it also feels decidedly different from anything the MCU's tried to do thus far. I'm in.
I'm also hoping we get to see Jessica's Jewel costume at least once in the show...
No bad jokes? No forced Avengers references? Just a pretty good trailer that tells us about the show & character?
Marvel, you feeling okay? This isn't like you.
I actually think those "forced" Avengers references (which were also nowhere near as common as people make them out to be), where actually fine. It IS part of the MCU after all, and because it doesn't feel like it, I think they felt the need to emphasize that it's a shared universe when the tones don't match up.
And also, the trailer for Daredevil was exactly as you described this one. Lastly, not every joke in the MCU is a bad one. Remember, there's gotta be some humor, or it doesn't work.
@shootingnova@silver2467: Concerning the RPG stuff, I'd take it to be a case of "true unless contradicted by other evidence". But in the case of the Sith Apprentices here, there isn't much contradiction, and besides that, I never did cite their given numbers in Strength, Intelligence, and so forth. Just the powers they are stated to know. It seems like that's alright for now.
Also: does anyone have info from the "Path of the Jedi" book? Because I could use it for the Jedi Brutes, Temple Guards, and Snipers.
@wolfrazer: Well, we all appreciate our scenes of heroes trashing Battle Droid and Thug-level nitwits, but yes, I'd agree that having generics with skills and feats makes heroes who beat lots of them a lot more impressive overall.
@shootingnova: Wow. Pretty potent fo a Dark Jedi. Being able to fight evenly with Leia would denote some pretty impressive speed all on it's own. Enough to blitz quite a few other characters, if I'm not mistaken.
Question: if Alema can fight evenly with Leia when injured, then shouldn't a non-injured Alema be able to beat Leia? How come Leia could still force a draw even when an injured Alema was able to fight evenly with her? Just curious. Personally, I'd take it as proof that Alema's better as a duelist, at least a little bit.
You know, as someone who generally frowns on redesigning female characters in the name of making them less sexy, I must say that there is little here that I find objectionable. In fact, almost nothing.
With Red Sonja, I see very little that is different beyond the hooded cloak. The variant cover where she doesn't have it shows me a look that near as I can tell has many of the same features as her classic get-up: bare legs, brown boots and gloves, armored chest, etc. A bit less scantily clad yes, but frankly not thatdifferent. She still looks like Red Sonja to me.
Dejah's look is arguably my personal favorite of the three. I kind of like the armored bits and how they're designed, as well as the skirt and the color chosen for it. And for those who most identify Dejah Thoris with exposed skin below the neck, I'm still seeing quite a bit of it. For those wanting fan-service, I think this one's plenty fan-servicey and thus not that far a cry from her older look.
And finally, Vampirella. To be honest, I never liked her original costume. Not because it's sexy, but because there's so little there I feel like it can barely be accused of being an outfit. This on the other hand is sexy, but also feels like it has substance. Only thing I'd change about this one is the fingerless gloves, as I hate fingerless gloves. But other then that, this one's very nice. The bat on the back of her jacket is an especially nice touch.
So ultimately, I'm not seeing much of a problem here. Maybe it's because I'm not as into these characters as I am others, though to be fair, I wasn't exactly weeping over the notion of giving Wonder Woman a pair of pants to wear. Honestly I think these outfits are a nice compromise: more clothing so the ladies feel less like they're out for a day at the beach, but still plenty of exposed skin and sex appeal to appease those of us that are into that sort of thing. What's the issue?
