I always liked the idea of different species in a galactic community, having political relations with each other. I played mass effect and loved how the lore is handled, I'm hoping for something similar along those lines if you're familiar with the game.

So, what are some comics that deal with this?

Also, don't bother recommending Green Lantern and Star Wars, cause I'm already reading those.

I'm thinking about getting the knightfall trades, but they're two versions. For the first volume there's the "broken bat" version and there's the new thicker version. Are the extra stories worth it in the thicker trade? Do they fill in some gaps for the story? Cause i don't feel like spending extra money on stories that aren't really important.
