A) I got a new computer

So I've built a new computer, somewhat frustrating experience, still working out the kinks in getting the right drivers and settings and whatnot. Trying to partition the HD to get Ubuntu and XP to play nice is kind of a pain in the ass, I've never done it before.

Frys had an awesome sale (for me, bad for them) where they were selling the E6750/abit Mobo combo at a loss, so I jumped on it.

Got a Coolermaster 690 case because it had decent reviews and didn't cost an arm and a leg, so far its super-cool, temperatures haven't seen 20C yet, and I could still install 3 more 120mm fans. My old case was averaging around 50C.

Went with a Seagate Barracuda SATA hardrive

but made the mistake of getting an IDE DVD drive

I'm thinking of returning it to get the SATA goodness. Thats definitely the way to go, couple wires are way better than a cumbersome cable.

The last thing I put in was the video card... and then I realized I've got an AGP video card and a PCI-E slot... I am an idiot.

So I had to get a graphics card and went with the Hightech Radeon 1950pro 512MB version, seemed like the best bang for the buck in the price range I was looking at and should be able to handle Crysis, Gears of War, Quake Wars, UT3, Bioshock, etc etc etc

After all that, stacking my system up against the dell catalog I got in the mail last week, looks like I saved somewhere around 800-1000 bucks by building it myself and got quality components instead of the generic crap they use.

Still need one of the following to happen to resume the comicvine obsession

B) the giant delete/combine thread http://www.comicvine.com/message/giant-sized-combine-delete-thread/21111/&c=34&34&page=2 gets a big done picture posted in it

C) P-Man comes back

D) Comicvine gets mentioned on Oprah or the Colbert Report

E) I get sick
