@replicant0658 I thought Batman The Dark Knight: The Cycle of Violence was one of the most underrated Batman stories ever told and personally for me... one of the greatest Batman stories as well. It looks at both Jonathan Crane (Scarecrow) and Bruce Wayne from a psychological standpoint and examines why they became who they are today. The art is fabulous and is perfect for the overall mood of the story. The story is captivating and shows what demented lengths both Scarecrow and Batman are willing to go to in order to achieve there goals. It really is almost horror-esque/psychological thriller graphic novel. The writing is what makes it stand out the most though. It comes across as a psycho-analysis of both characters while moving the plot forward. One of the best Scarecrow stories published.

I give it 9.5/10. I absolutely loved it, well worth the money, and I highly recommend it.

Nice review. Yes sadly it will become one of those great forgotten Batman stories.

Completely agree. It's really sad that even regular Batman readers have often never even heard of it.

I love the purple inside of the cape, and I love the yellow outline on the Batsymbol - but I hate them together. It's two really cool things that don't mix well.

Quick question, is Vol 7 of Green Arrow necessary? Coming off after Jeff Lemire's run (Vol 4-6), I'd rather jump to Vol 8 which seems to continue his work on the series.

Any help would be great.

@ultimatepower6: I can't speak for the Superman titles with complete confidence, but as far as I know they're pretty disconnected besides the current story arc, "Truth", which has been crossing between all titles. But as far as Batman, while they're definitely connected there's barely an actual correlation.

Regarding Green Lantern, those books have a really strong connection, even more so since Vendetti took control of the main Green Lantern title. Since Vol 4, I've decided to pause my reading of that and start over with Green Lantern Corps in order to have a better grasp on the Lantern realm of things. From what I've heard, GLC is a great read anyway so it's worth the effort.

Sorry for the late reply, and I hope this helped!

By "Post New 52", I'm guessing you mean the recent DCYou marketing push? If so, then nothing has changed continuity-wise, besides them being more loose in how rigidly connected each series was prior to June (DCYou).

Up until June, my own opinion is that there's an extremely strong connectivity between each title - for example, all the Batfamily books having a very rigid timeline and status quo between them, and likewise for the Superman books.

Since June however, the idea is that while every book is in the same continuity (it's still New 52, they just aren't calling it that anymore), the connection between books isn't so strong in terms of the timelines.

I'll use the new JLA book and Justice League for example. In Justice League, certain major events have happened changing characters etc (I won't spoil), but there's no evidence of this in JLA and everything seems normal. The explanation of this, is that even though they're coming out at the same time, these books aren't happening at the same point in time - JLA's current arc is either taking place before the current Justice League arc, or after it and everything has been reverted. It may be irritating to not know yet which happens first, but the idea is that timeline continuity will become clear afterward - this method of storytelling is called "plug and play".

I hope I did a good job of explaining, let me know if you have questions!
