Saw Thor last night at midnight (Thursday 5/5...or should I say Thor'sday?)

All of the portrayals of Asgardians were phenominal, but Tom Hiddleston's Loki stole the show.

The story was well written and well paced.

The special effects were mind-blowing. Asgard and Jotunheim were fantasy-based but real enough to believe, but the Destryoer took the cake.

I don't know as much about Thor as I do other Avengers, so part of me went to the movie to see the "next chapter" of the expanding Marvel Movie Universe and this is where it let me down. The only things that connected this move to what's been made before are the appearance of Agent Coulson and S.H.I.E.L.D. We know going in that this takes place during Coulson's absence in Iron Man 2, but there's no connection to Incredible Hulk that I could find except a passing reference to Gamma radiation.

I also found the human characters to be somewhat lacking in personality with the exception of Kat Denning's performance.  She took the gold there.

My only other significant gripe is the lack of easter egg references. I saw Hawkeye, but there was no mention of the name. There were references to Journey Into Mystery, Donald Blake, and Tony Stark, and the Stan Lee cameo of course...but not much else.

I plan on seeing it again, in the daytime, so I may catch stuff I missed. Still a great film that's worth the ticket price.

See, I thought about that myself, but according to the newscaster in The Incredible Hulk, the storm takes place in South Dakota/Virginia, near Culver University. According to the Thor trailers and what Coulson says in Iron Man 2, Thor lands in New Mexico.

It's possible he lands in Virginia and makes his way across the country with Jane to find the hammer in New Mexico...

This just proves yet again the major difference between the Big Two. Each had a hugh movie hit on their hands. One of them said "Hey, this is going so well, let's build a series of movies where all of our characters will appear over time within the universe of this one film!", and the other is DC!

WOW what a question...

I am a huge Marvel fan, and as such have seen every film made except Howard the Duck, and the made for TV Man-Thing. I even sat through Hasselhoff as Nick Fury! Some were great, some were just there, and some sucked @$$, but you're asking for a favorite, which means "The Best", and if I had to pick one it would be...

IRON MAN

Here's why...

1) RDJ - He OWNS that role.

2) Jon Fav - He did a great job directing. Yeah he's out of the third one, but he made this film from a place of respect and love and it shows.

3) The Story - We see how IM could exist in the real world.

4) MARVEL STUDIOS. 'Nuff said.

5) The Future - Because of this movie, there's a whole Marvel Movie Universe with butloads of potential stories, and it grew very much the same way Stan developed the Marvel Universe.

I've waited over twenty years for my childhood heroes to make it to the screen at all, and I'll probably see the new Spider-Man, X-Men and Ghost Rider films, but I'm willing to wait twenty more for Sony, Fox, and whoever else ownes movie rights to these characters to do what's right and sell them back to Marvel Studios so they can be done right.

Real Cities.

Whenever I visited New York back in the eighties (and was reading Marvel religiously), it was cool to see real places featured in the comics. Not just the G.W. or Brooklyn Bridges or the Empire State Building, but also...
...Penn Station, where Karen said goodbye to her pimp and Ben Grimm boarded a bus with Miracle Man and Scourge.
...Strawberry Fields, where the X-Men fought Freedom Force and Spiral took Rachel to Mojoverse.
...the bar where Colossus fought Juggernaut after returning from the Secret Wars.

Fake cities make the world more crowded than it needs to be.
Metropolis and Gotham City are cool, but where the heck are they supposed to be in relation to NY and Boston? And are Central and Keystone cities supposed to be Chicago and St. Paul?

As much as I don't want to dis this movie...I hope it "fails to find its audience" enough for 20th Century Fox to FINALLY SELL THE RIGHTS BACK TO MARVEL STUDIOS so this franchise can be done right!

THANK YOU TOM!! I called this series out months ago when I heard they were making a Cap movie. This is a great series, and if only 50% of this story makes it into the film I'll be happy.

My only gripe is that when this series came out, and I set up my cast in my head, I had Brendan Fraser as Cap and Moira Kelly as Glass.

My only issue with your choices is that I'm about 15 years too old to know some of these guys. Booster Gold will always be Ted McGinley, and Blue Beetle is Rob Lowe.    I'm fine with Dennis Quaid as Hal, and I'm torn with Ryan Reynolds being either Wally or Kyle Rayner. J G-L as Nightwing is perfect, but realistically Nolan will most likely use him as Edward Nigma, a role a can totally see him in.

I also think Hathaway as Selina is a stretch, but Hardy as Bane makes sense. To be honest, I never would have thought Ledger would have made a great Joker, but when I saw him smile in 10 Things I Hate About You, I could sorta see it.

If you've ever seen Chuck, what do you think about Yvonne Strahovski as Black Canary?

My guess is that the female lead in the Cap movie is similar to the main female character from the 1991 series The Adventures of Captain America. Can't remember her name right now, but she helps recruit Steve into the Super Soldier program and plays a major part in the rest of the story.

Also - I understand why they went with Ultimate Nick Fury for the movie universe, but to me...Adam Baldwin would have been great. I submit any episode of Chuck as evidence.

The only problem with Durance is you'd also have to cast Welling.
I defend Bledel as follows:
1) She's not able to play Lois as Kidder did or Durance does - the "ballsy" type of reporter that Byrne redefined Lois as Post-Crisis. She can, however, play smart/wise ass and highly intelligent. I submit the entire seventh season of Gilmore Girls as evidence.
2) Her size makes her look very vulnerable, something that would make Superman all the more protective of her. One of Lois' defining characteristics is the fact that she is not the expected type of woman Superman would be attracted to - Lois isn't superhuman or statuesque like Wonder Woman and she isn't full of royal bravado-ness like Maxima. Lois is a human woman with all the vulnerabilities that come with that, and she's still smart, brave and has the tenacity to hunt down a story and get the bad guy. All this Bledel has in spades.

On a side note, on the list of actors to play Lex, there can be only one...BILLY ZANE!
