You pretty much summed up my thoughts.
As for Versus XIII/XV's combat system, it was known that it was gonna be an ARPG since 2007/2008; same deal with the road trip.
I can understand if people dislike either things, but it's not like a sudden surprise. xD
I'm hoping the Judgment demo releases sometime next week. I played the Japanese version, but it'd be nice to play it in English as well. One of my best gaming moments in years was driving the Regalia while listening to the series' main theme.
You're right about the combat system being known for nearly ten years now. I just recalled that trailer I saw for Versus XIII years ago. It was bound to be an action RPG before the subgenre grew in popularity among Western video games. But, it's definitely no surprise that people dislike it. It's cool to hate things on the internet these days.
My only gripe about this game is the fact that there's DLC involved. I get that it's optional, but after playing Witcher 3 and have free DLC plus hefty expansions that are way cheaper than all other season passes, it's like "damn, I gotta pay for all of that?"
Lmao. You got that right.
I'm a member of NeoGAF and Final Fantasy threads on there are always filled with hyperbole. I moderate a FF fansite as well, but the site is still growing, so it hasn't been chaotic yet.
That's Square Enix for you. >___> Even with the Collector's Edition that's hundreds and hundreds of dollars, you don't actually get everything included, such as some XV spin-off which you can only get buy pre-ordering through Gamestop.
I personally disagree with how XV's marketing has been handled. The only reason why I was originally mad about the delay was because how Enix were so sure about a September 30th release. Literally from last August until March, they were insisting that they had a solid release date and even hosted a Hollywood-like carpet event just to announce the release date.
Back onto the DLC, I wouldn't recommend anyone to pre-order the Season Pass. People should just wait until the reviews for the DLCs (a few are story expansions, I think) at the very least. Even if XV does end up being good, I probably won't buy the Season Pass right away. Not really one to care about DLCs.
@samimista: I have played Final Fantasy VII multiple times, but yes Final Fantasy XV will be the first Final Fantasy game I have owned.
Very cool.
My older brother has only played VII and X, but has been interested in XV since 2011. Sadly, he won't be able to play right away due to work. =/
@static_shock: The "free" DLC for W3 was pretty throwaway though. Expansions were arguably better than the base game tho.
Still need to play Witcher 3's expansions, myself. I've heard nothing but good things about them.
