ANOTHER CHARACTER of much significance

The Outlander (who started a rebellion against The Eternal Empire encompassing numerous factions including the Jedi and Sith and became The Alliance Commander subsequently) feature heavily in contents of this blog.

Official portrayal of this character in updates provided by BioWare suggest a HUMAN MALE corresponding to the Jedi Knight background:

In-game portrayal of this character vary as per player choices and tastes nevertheless.

The Eternal Empire pushed the Jedi Order to de-centralize itself [a] and the legendary Jedi Knight of the time (alias Hero of Tython) became The Outlander at some point [b].

Revelation [a] below:

Based on the intelligence we’ve gathered, I believe the Jedi recognized the possibility of their order being destroyed by the Eternal Empire and chose to de-centralize themselves to better their chances of long-term survival.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Jedi Under Siege: State of the Galaxy)

Revelation [b] below:

But the immortal Emperor could not be vanquished so easily. He evaded death by infiltrating the mind of the Outlander, his most powerful opponent.

INTRODUCTION

"I killed three knights to make sure they weren't lying to me. Then three more because I hate odd numbers." - Vaylin

No Caption Provided

Vaylin is the most dangerously unhinged of Valkorion's children - and the most powerful. Years later, she served as High Justice when her brother Arcann overthrew their father to become the new ruler of Zakuul. She mercilessly purged her brother's enemies, all without loosing her playful smile. Any hatred she had was reserved for Senya, the mother who abandoned her to Valkorion's corruption. After years of hungering for Senya's death, Vaylin was finally ready to claim her revenge when Arcann intervened, saving their mother's life before escaping with her into the Wild Space. With her family dead or in exile, Vaylin took the throne for herself, becoming the first Empress of the Eternal Empire. Determined not to follow in her brother's disgraceful footsteps, she set out to ruthlessly conquer the galaxy - and track down her treacherous family.

From (Star Wars: Knights of the Eternal Throne: Character Profiles)

REPUTATION

Valkorion saw in Vaylin a potential challenger to his supremacy one day and sought to impose limits on her powers and mind.

Even as a child, Vaylin showed signs of tremendous power. Fearing she would one day challenge him, Valkorion imprisoned his daughter while he sought limits and controls on her power.

Through brutal experiments and mental conditioning, Vaylin was subconsciously trained to respond to a specific phrase: kneel before the Dragon of Zakuul. When spoken by her father, these words prevent Vaylin from unleashing her power and temporarily trap her will in an unbreakable mental prison.

While effective, it is likely the conditioning aggravated Vaylin's violent tendencies and contributed to her mental instability. While trying to cage his daughter's anger, Valkorion transformed her into a monster.

From (Star Wars: Knights of the Eternal Throne: Codex entry titled "Vaylin's conditioning.")

Valkorion cautioned that both Arcann and Vaylin are among the greatest threats in the galaxy and having the capacity to ruin everything. Valkorion cautioned The Alliance Commander that it would take both of them to undo the damage his children can inflict.

"We must deal with my errant son and daughter before they ruin everything." - Valkorion

"I knew you wanted something. You can't stop them alone." - The Outlander

"They are deadly - and worse, lack discipline. do not underestimate their threat. It will take both of us to undo the damage they can inflict." - Valkorion

Lord Lana Beniko informed The Outlander (before becoming The Alliance Commander) that Vaylin's strength in the Force is astounding.

"Her strength in the Force is astounding, even for her family."

Lord Lana Beniko informed The Outlander (before becoming The Alliance Commander) that Vaylin is capable of MASS DESTRUCTION.

"It's Vaylin! She'll bring the whole city crashing down on you if she has to!"

Iokath automation ARIES, while simulating Thexan, analyzed Vaylin [Chained] and complimented her unprecedented potential:

"I'm here now. You're so powerful, Vaylin. The things you can do..."

Valkorion cautioned The Outlander (The Alliance Commander and stronger than ever by now) that Vaylin will become unstoppable after Unchaining herself.

"If Vaylin unleashes her full power, even you may not be strong enough to stop her.

Vaylin [Unborn]

Telekinesis

Vaylin's connection to the Force was so great and intense that she was capable of manipulating external environment subconsciously while still inside the womb of her mother.

"She made furniture move while she was still in the womb." - Senya Tirall

----------------------------------

Vaylin [Child]

Even as a child, Vaylin showed signs of tremendous power. Fearing she would one day challenge him, Valkorion imprisoned his daughter while he sought limits and controls on her power.

Force Scream

Vaylin [Child] disintegrated a body armor and produced winds in her surroundings with a Force Scream:

(1) Vaylin [Child] tore droids apart when she was but a toddler:

"Tore droids apart as a toddler." - Senya Tirall

(2) Vaylin [Child] crippled a guard who dropped a ball that she tossed towards him:

"One, a guard dropped a ball she tossed. Vaylin crippled him." - Senya Tirall

(3) Vaylin [Child] prevented a Knight of Zakuul from landing a blow at her with a stick, lifted all of the Knights of Zakuul involved in her training from the ground while shattering the stick and body armor of the Knight of Zakuul closest to her, and the ordeal made them all loose conscious. Worse could happen if her mother Senya Tirall (one of the most powerful Knights of Zakuul) did not intervene in time.

As a child, her strength in the Force was so great that Valkorion locked her away in a remote compound to teach her obedience and mastery of her powers.

From (Star Wars: Knights of the Eternal Throne: Profile of Vaylin)

NOTE: Knights of Zakuul are/were no ordinary living beings but well-trained Force-users of The Eternal Empire shaped by the Limitless Power Philosophy which encouraged them to explore and practice both Light and Dark sides of the Force without restrictions:

Officially considered protectors of the people, Knights hunt down corruption in the Eternal Empire. In actuality, they are enforcers of the Emperor's will and fanatical in their adoration for Valkorion and his family. Zakuul Knights don't limit themselves to studying one side of the Force, instead teaching balance and exploration. Knights have their own relationships with the Force, but are encouraged to share their findings with the rest of the order. No area is deemed "weak" or "a dangerous path"--they are all parts of a larger, limitless power. Ultimately, every action a Knight takes is to honor the Immortal Emperor.

Vaylin [Chained]

"Nathema is a blighted, forgotten world where the Force has been corrupted. I sent Vaylin there to condition her mind... and teach her obedience." - Valkorion

"No wonder your daughter hates you... and everyone else." - The Alliance Commander

Valkorion established a remote research facility on Nathema named the Sanitarium. This facility housed his most dangerous artifacts and also served as a prison for his most dangerous opponents. Nathema being a VOID in the Force, limited the ability of any Force-user to resist and escape. It was a terrible environment to cope with for long and chances of survival were slim to none:

The sole structure on the barren rock of Nathema, the Sanitarium was where Valkorion sent powerful Force users who opposed him for gruesome research experiments. The Force void enveloping the world limited the subjects' ability to resist or escape, making it the perfect laboratory and prison.

The Sanitarium is home to a mysterious sect of Force-sensitives called the Nathema Zealots, though day-to-day order is maintained by the Keepers--specially trained Abyssin who serve as guards and caretakers. The halls are also patrolled by mutated creatures from other worlds that are genetically engineered to instill fear, terror, and obedience in the Sanitarium's unwilling residents. The operation is overseen by an Anomid scientist named Jarak--an outcast among his own kind for the deviant nature of his research.

Vaylin is the only inmate to ever leave Nathema alive, though she still bears the mental scars from the horrors she endured during her incarceration.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Knights of the Eternal Throne: Codex entry titled "The Sanitarium.")

No Caption Provided

Vaylin was the only Force-user and inmate in history to walk out from The Sanitarium alive - a testament to her unparalleled strength in the Force and/or ability to cope with unbearable stresses and conditions relative to others.

Even after experiencing such an ordeal, Vaylin [Chained] proved to be a frighteningly powerful Force-user and her exploits are as of the Knights of the Fallen Empire and Knights of the Eternal Throne expansion sets are documented below.

"Do you know what they did to me there?" - Vaylin

"You needed discipline. You had to learn to control your power." - Valkorion

-----

Force Bond

Vaylin [Chained] formed a close bond with her brother Arcann:

She formed a close bond with her brother Arcann as they both detest the idea of destiny. However, Vaylin isn't one to stay in the shadows forever.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Knights of the Fallen Empire: Codex entry titled "Vaylin.")

Force Sense

Vaylin had remarkable SENSE abilities since birth; she could 'sense' developments in the Force to which others were completely oblivious.

LOCATION - The Eternal Throne

(1) Vaylin [Chained] was able to sense Flow-walking activity around her and responded to it.

"Vaylin was always my favorite." - Valkorion

"What is it?" - Arcann

Vaylin [Chained] shakes her head but zero in on the source of disturbance:

No Caption Provided

"Your daughter doesn't trust your son." - The Outlander

"She trusts no one." - Valkorion

Vaylin [Chained] then stab the source of disturbance:

The Outlander (before becoming The Alliance Commander) feels same amount of pain that he would experience physically in that situation.

"I'm dying..." - The Outlander

"We are being reborn." - Valkorion

LOCATION - The Spire (or Zakuul Metropolis)

(2) Vaylin [Chained] made use of her SENSE abilities to retrace steps of The Outlander (before becoming The Alliance Commander) while in pursuit of him through The Spire.

"I can feel her searching for me." - The Outlander

NOTE: The aforementioned application continued until Koth Vortena - a former military officer of The Eternal Empire - managed to rescue The Outlander and Lord Lana Beniko, preventing Vaylin [Chained] from capturing her targets with heavy firepower of his starship.

-----

LOCATION - Gravestone

(3) Vaylin [Chained] was able to breach the shroud of Valkorion's manipulation of the space-time continuum, shocking her opponents:

No Caption Provided

NOTE: Few Force-users have demonstrated the ability to manipulate the space-time continuum for desired ends and there is not a single documented instance of a Force-user preventing such an act under any circumstances; even The Alliance Commander could not. Vaylin was the most gifted child of Valkorion and she is the only Force-user to accomplish such a thing. Perhaps the shared energies canceled each other out.

-----

LOCATION - Iokath

(4) Vaylin [Chained] was able to see through the deception of ARIES in her prison on Iokath:

"I want to help. Tell me what's stopping you from destroying the Outlander." - ARIES simulating Thexan

"You know the answer... Don't you?" - Vaylin

"Why can't I feel you?" - Vaylin

LOCATION - The Spire (or Zakuul Metropolis)

(5) The Alliance Commander remarked in a conversation with Indo Zal that Vaylin [Chained] can sense his presence:

"Vaylin can sense my presence. We'll need a distraction if we want to get close."

Electronic Manipulation

Tutaminis

LOCATION - Iokath

Vaylin [Chained] tolerated a blaster-shot aimed to kill her, then turned around to absorb another blaster-shot with her hand:

NOTE: The attacker in this case was the Iokath Purifier class droid and its capabilities are discussed at length in PART 2 (see [2] in The Scaling Chains and Estimations section). Iokath droids are among the most sophisticated machines ever produced. They were responsible for wiping out their organic creators in a brutal civil war many centuries ago.

Protection Bubble

LOCATION - Ord Mantell

Vaylin [Chained] withstood the explosion of a damaged hyperdrive that was potent enough to utterly disintegrate and/or atomize anything caught in its blast radius and set the entire region ablaze, sparing Senya Tirall a horrible fate in the process (Protection Bubble factor):

A shrill whine rose like a scream: the sound of pressurized coolant spewing from a punctured hyperdrive. Senya had just long enough to register what had happened before the damaged hyperdrive exploded.

She came to a few seconds later, groggy, disoriented and with her ears ringing. The blast had thrown her twenty meters; tiny bits of twisted, melted metal that had once been the hull of the ship lay all around her. Forcing herself to her hands and knees, Senya turned her head from side to side, looking for Vaylin. But all she saw was smoke and flame; the fires had spread to consume the entire camp.

Arcann!

Somehow Senya rose unsteadily to her feet, then set off in a stumbling run back towards her ship and her son. As the flames fell farther and farther behind her, her head slowly cleared. Her thoughts briefly turned to the fallen knights, consumed by the funeral pyre that had once been their camp. They'd risked their lives to help her, and Vaylin had slaughtered them all.

She and Arcann were alone again. No allies. Nowhere to turn. But she was still alive… somehow.

The blast should have vaporized me.

There was only one explanation for her survival: Vaylin must have used the Force to shield them both from the worst of the explosion.

- forcing many to flee from the surroundings. The Outlander (before becoming The Alliance Commander) attempted to shut it down. It is not clear whether he succeeded (or not) but a section of Metropolis lost power regardless. If the explosion occurred, it killed thousands in the vicinity.

(4) Vaylin [Chained] effortlessly destroyed a large bridge:

NOTE: Constructions of The Spire are extremely durable on average (see [5] below).

(5) Vaylin [Chained] effortlessly ripped a large chunk of metal from its foundation, utilized it much like a SHIELD, and then threw it towards a Starship like a missile with great precision all the while being subjected to heavy FIREPOWER from it:

NOTE: It was possible for Vaylin [Chained] to disarm powerful Force-users - see [13] below for an example.

-----

LOCATION - The Eternal Flagship class

(11) Vaylin [Chained] sustained a blast of power from then mortally wounded Arcann and landed on her feet:

No Caption Provided

NOTE: Arcann was a son of Valkorion and one of the most powerful Force-users in history. He was more than capable of handling The Outlander in a duel on The Asylum who in turn was a veteran of the Great Galactic War and the most powerful Force-user to oppose Valkorion (see [2] above) - this was the case before evolution of The Outlander on Odessen (i.e. his connection to the Force was enhanced by Valkorion and he embraced a new perspective for using the Force under co-tutelage of Darth Marr and Satele Shan as well as constructed a new Lightsaber that became an extension of his will) - now The Alliance Commander. In a rematch between Arcann and The Alliance Commander on The Eternal Flagship class, the former was able to hold his own through much of the duel and withstood multiple stabs and cuts on his body. The Eternal Flagship class was under attack by The Eternal Fleet that was under control of an automation turned rogue named Scorpio at the time and this dynamic also contributed to Arcann's defeat in the duel but his mother Senya Tirall pulled him from the rubble and escaped with him.

LOCATION - Ord Mantell

(12) Vaylin [Chained] fought and destroyed a massive force of the Knights of Zakuul including their Starships and Shuttles with her telekinetic abilities:

With the rising flames, Senya finally witnessed the true carnage Vaylin had unleashed on the camp: dozens of Knights – bodies mutilated and mangled – had been tossed haphazardly amongst the scattered wreckage of ships and shuttles torn asunder. The full breadth of the slaughter sent a chill down her back; grim evidence of the horrors her daughter was capable of.

NOTE: This development is discussed at length in the MASS DESTRUCTION section below.

(13) Vaylin [Chained] effortlessly disarmed Senya Tirall with her telekinetic abilities:

Senya raised her weapon, only to have it wrenched effortlessly from her hands by the Force. The pike sailed ten meters through the air and into Vaylin's waiting grasp.

(14) Senya Tirall realized that Vaylin [Chained] could crush her skull in an instant with her telekinetic abilities:

She could crush my skull in an instant, Senya realized. And I'd be powerless to stop her!

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Knights of the Eternal Throne: A Mother's Hope)

(15) Vaylin [Chained] effortlessly sent Senya Tirall crashing into the hull of one the Starships that she had wrecked earlier:

"Is that who you take orders from now?" Senya pressed. "A machine?"

Vaylin flicked her wrist, hurtling Senya through the air to slam against the hull of one of the broken vessels surrounding the camp. Senya crumpled to the ground, momentarily stunned.

MASS DESTRUCTION

LOCATION - Ord Mantell

"Vaylin hunted Senya to the shores of Ord Mantell. She eliminated her mother's knights - but let Senya live. Is this a sign of familial love? Or a predator toying with her prey? Only time will tell." - Jarak (Holofeed)

Vaylin [Chained] is capable of MASS DESTRUCTION with her Force powers - she fought and destroyed a large military force of The Eternal Empire with her telekinetic abilities in a major battle that took place out in the open. This was no ordinary military force but encompassed a large number of the Knights of Zakuul as well as heavy equipment including Ships and Shuttles - these Knights refused to serve Vaylin and were FRIENDLY to Senya Tirall in a time when she did not had many allies to work with:

At first, Senya had suspected some kind of trick. During his reign Arcann had hunted the Scions to the brink of extinction. But the Scions were driven only by their prophecies and visions, not by vengeance. They claimed they wanted the deposed Emperor to live; they believed he still had some role to play. She hadn't asked what destiny the Scions had foreseen for Arcann – she wasn't even sure she wanted to know. Saving her son's life was all that mattered, and she was desperate and running out of options. So when the Scions told her to go to Ord Mantell, she had listened.

She wasn't here to meet with the Scions themselves, however. They were still too cautious – too vulnerable – to risk exposure. Instead, they had sent her to meet her own kind. The vast majority of the Knights of Zakuul were still loyal to the Eternal Throne, regardless of who sat upon it. But given Vaylin's violent history towards their ranks, there were some who were not ready to swear fealty to her. They feared Vaylin would disband – or even destroy – their order.

These men and women who dared to stand against the new Empress, the Scions had explained in their message, were now Senya's best hope. They had medical equipment and supplies she could not acquire, and experts who knew how to properly use them. And they respected Senya. She'd fought side-by-side with many of them; the others knew her well by reputation. If she could convince them to help her; to help Arcann…

They will listen to me. They have to.

The night was dark; Ord Mantell's twin moons shrouded by thick, noxious brown clouds. The only illumination came from her lightsaber pike, the soft blue glow of the blade just barely piercing the blackness only a meter ahead.

Her steps were slow and cautious; the uneven, hard-packed crust of dirt crunched softly beneath her boots as she made her way through the impenetrable gloom. Based on the coordinates she'd been given, she knew she was close. But something felt off. There were no signs of a camp: no flickers of light in the distance; no whispers of far-off movement; no sentries stepping forward to challenge her approach.

Senya reached out warily with the Force, delving into the surrounding darkness. She sensed nothing unusual, but her probings were clumsy and awkward: her training had focused primarily on using the Force in combat.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Knights of the Eternal Throne: A Mother's Hope)

When Senya Tirall reached the designated spot, she began to notice signs of death and destruction around her:

Her senses now on high alert, she crept forward until her foot stepped into a small puddle. The audible splash brought with it the sharp, almost metallic, scent of rhydonium. The sickly smell of fuel amplified her unease, and her fingers clenched around the hilt of her pike.

Steeling herself against a mounting dread, she pressed on further. The second body was only a few meters away, but in the pitch-black surroundings she didn't notice him until he was at her feet. Unlike the first victim, this one was on his back. In the dim glow of her weapon, she could clearly make out the grotesque expression of pure terror etched on his face.

Even though she didn't recognize him, Senya felt a kinship with the fallen warrior. She had been a Knight of Zakuul herself; these were her brothers and sisters. She had trained with them, lived with them, fought with them.

Moving slowly, Senya paced off an ever widening circle in the darkness. Puddles of rhydonium dotted the ground, the tiny chrome pools reflecting and amplifying the glow of her lightsaber to reveal the broken bodies of several more fallen knights. She had come to their camp for help, knowing they wouldn't turn away one of their own. Now they were dead, their bodies broken and scattered… and Senya knew it was her fault.

This wasn't coincidence. Reaching out to the rogue knights had drawn Vaylin's attention. Their blood was on her hands. But she didn't have the luxury of guilt. Not if she wanted to save her son. It was time to go; there was nothing here for her now.

A soft splash from the darkness snapped her head around. She took a step towards the sound, extending the tip of the pike to investigate. In the soft illumination she saw something she recognized immediately: a hand-carved child's toy, cast aside and abandoned in the dirt.

Following happened next:

Force Lightning

Vaylin [Chained] set much of the surface ablaze with Force lightning:

She braced herself as brisk footsteps approached. A familiar figure materialized from the darkness, her hands alight with crackling sparks of energy. Vaylin flared her fingers out, the sparks arcing from the tips to catch on the rhydonium pool at her feet, setting it ablaze. The fire spread quickly, leaping from puddle to puddle, crisscrossing the surrounding ground to carve out a blazing pattern that lit up the night.

Sheer scale of death and destruction in the region then became apparent to Senya Tirall:

With the rising flames, Senya finally witnessed the true carnage Vaylin had unleashed on the camp: dozens of Knights – bodies mutilated and mangled – had been tossed haphazardly amongst the scattered wreckage of ships and shuttles torn asunder. The full breadth of the slaughter sent a chill down her back; grim evidence of the horrors her daughter was capable of.

NOTE: Vaylin [Chained] is revealed to be unarmed when up against her mother Senya Tirall for the second time. Knights of Zakuul were able to disarm Vaylin [Chained] at some point in the course of the battle but this did not prevent her from eliminating the entire force.

Following happened next:

Telekinesis

Vaylin [Chained] effortlessly disarmed Senya Tirall with her telekinetic abilities:

Senya raised her weapon, only to have it wrenched effortlessly from her hands by the Force. The pike sailed ten meters through the air and into Vaylin's waiting grasp.

She could crush my skull in an instant, Senya realized. And I'd be powerless to stop her!

But when Vaylin raised the stolen lightsaber pike and charged, she knew that wouldn't happen – her daughter wanted the visceral pleasure of slicing her down in combat.

Using the Force to pull the lightsaber of one of the fallen knights into her own hand, Senya met the charge head on. The glowing blades clashed with a loud, crackling hiss, and for an instant the two combatants stood face-to-face, only centimeters apart, surrounded by the orange flames spreading rapidly through the camp.

Senya was close enough to stare into Vaylin's eyes. They burned with hate, pure and savage; all trace of the child that had once clung to her mother's side was gone.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Knights of the Eternal Throne: A Mother's Hope)

Senya Tirall realized that Vaylin could crush her skill in an instant with her telekinetic abilities but the latter desired a Lightsaber duel instead.

COMPARE

Compare the above with Count Dooku when he was up against 30 pirates:

"But the fact remains: if he gets into a fight with thirty pirates - yes, he might kill fifteen of them - but he will be shot, and he will go down." - Dave Filoni

Count Dooku was absolutely reluctant to take his chances with 30 pirates out in the open without a Lightsaber due to the likelihood of being overwhelmed by them; forget about taking chances with dozens of well-trained Force-users out in the open at any point in time. For countless Force-users, potential battles were much easier to fight inside buildings and similar environments but challenging numerous powerful opponents out in the open was not a practical consideration. Few Force-users were capable of MASS DESTRUCTION out in the open - typically with enabling techniques such as exceedingly powerful expressions of Force Drain and/or Force Storm. Vaylin could accomplish much with her telekinetic abilities on the other hand.

Vaylin absolutely outshine Count Dooku as a Force-user while being [Chained], let alone after being [Unchained]; further insight in PART 2 (see [5] in The Scaling Chains and Estimations section). She may have what it takes to overwhelm the likes of Master Yoda and Palpatine in a close-quarters exchange.

Battle for the Gravestone

"Do not underestimate Vaylin. Her power grows exponentially. Kill her, or you will die." - Valkorion

Vaylin [Chained] came very close to defeating The Alliance Commander as well as his allies on the Gravestone; sequence of events in this battle are highlighted below.

Vaylin [Chained] absorbed Force Lightning of Lord Lana Beniko and ragdolled her subsequently:

No Caption Provided

NOTE: Vaylin [Chained] incapacitated her for a while.

The Alliance Commander arrived at the scene, and after a brief conversation, Vaylin [Chained] ripped a heavy machinery from its foundation without even looking at it (Force Sense factor) and threw it towards him at such a speed that he was unable to come up with a response and had to leap to safety:

No Caption Provided

Koth Vortena berated Vaylin [Chained] for the aforementioned act because that machinery had something to do with his work and she LIFTED him from the ground and threw him towards a wall:

No Caption Provided

NOTE: Koth Vortena struck the wall at an angle which did not prove lethal to him and recovered after a while.

Vaylin [Chained] and The Alliance Commander fought each other for a while until the former flattened him with a gesture, and then leapt on his back only for Valkorion to intervene at the right moment:

Valkorion manipulated the space-time continuum to save The Alliance Commander and grant him advantage in this duel but Vaylin [Chained] was able to see through her father's incredible manipulation of the Force and beat him in his own game:

NOTE: Valkorion was taken aback by her powers but triggered Vaylin's Conditioning to strip her of her powers for a certain period; Vaylin [Chained] was now vulnerable and had no choice but to forfeit. The Alliance Commander learned of her weakness consequently and decided to exploit it to his advantage when another opportunity would present itself. He had his shot in The Grand Festival of Empress Vaylin event but Vaylin [Chained] was able to fight her way out of the resultant carnage.

The UNCHAINING Ordeal

LOCATION - Nathema

"I have returned to Nathema, years after I helped Valkorion tame his child. Now Vaylin wants me to undo her conditioning. Failure is not an option." - Jarak (Holofeed)

Jarak - a mysterious but remarkable scientist - reached out to Vaylin [Chained] through the hologram and informed her that he have devised a solution that will help her get rid of her Conditioning (courtesy of Valkorion) while The Grand Festival of Empress Vaylin event was in progress.

"I remember the last idiot who made that kind of promise. I'm still finding bits of him in my hair." - Vaylin

"I am confident in the results. You will soon be freed from your weakness." - Jarak

"Prepare for my arrival. But first, I have traitors to kill." - Vaylin

She decided to pay a visit to Nathema for the needful and agreed to undergo treatment from a deadly machine identified as the BRAIN that was housed deep inside the Sanitarium. It shall be kept in mind that no other individual (or subject) was able to endure exposure to this machine because it was in fact an experimental superweapon.

"If you are strong enough to survive the process, your bonds will be broken." - Jarak

"Have any of your lab rats survived so far? - Vaylin

"None were as strong as you." - Jarak

"Is something wrong, Empress?" - Jarak

"No. Lets begin." - Vaylin

The treatment commenced normally but the BRAIN malfunctioned while tapping into Vaylin's raw power in order to harness it. Now trapped, Vaylin attempted to resist tremendous forces of this machine and the resultant tug-of-war led to deflection of energy beams of the BRAIN in different directions, atomizing nearby attendants from existence:

NOTE: Energy beam of BRAIN atomized a Nathema Zealot in one hit.

Nathema Zealots are/were powerful Force-users who managed to adapt to post-apocalyptic conditions of Nathema - virtually impossible accomplishment for other factions including the Jedi and Sith.

No Caption Provided

A secretive group of powerful Force-sensitives, the Nathema Zealots live in total isolation on the blighted world. Founded by Valkorion, the Nathema Zealots are among the only Force-sensitive beings able to withstand the horrors of the void through a regime of daily rituals and intense meditation. However, while their mental conditioning focuses their power, it simultaneously erodes their free will.

This was not accidental, as Valkorion sought to create an army of completely subservient yet incredibly powerful Force users. However, one unexpected side effect was that the Nathema Zealots grew dependent on the void for their existence, and became catatonic if they left Nathema's surface.

Hoping to extract some value from his failed experiment, Valkorion used the Nathema Zealots as wardens for the prisoners he sent to Nathema's Sanitarium. He also recruited the Anomid scientist Jarak to study their mental conditioning so he could use it to control his daughter Vaylin.

As the tug-of-war between Vaylin [Chained] and the BRAIN continued, Jarak sealed the massive chamber but the entire setting was shaking and the Sanitarium suffered much damage by extension.

"Vaylin! You have to stop her!" - Valkorion

The Alliance Commander and his allies were also on Nathema in pursuit of Vaylin [Chained] and were able to cope with this environment with support of Valkorion:

"My power is limited here, but I will do what I can to shield you and your companions from the worst effects of the void." - Valkorion

They ran into Jarak and sought answers:

"Vaylin... something went wrong. Her power is racing out of control. When it erupts, the entire asylum will be destroyed." - Jarak

"We can survive this cataclysm, but we need to work together" - Jarak

Jarak led them to the top secret vault to escape destructive energies that were a byproduct of the ongoing tug-of-war between Vaylin (Chained) and the BRAIN.

"What is this place?" - Lord Lana Beniko

NOTE: Valkorion was responsible for corrupting Sith Holocron of his once biological father Lord Dramath in his childhood, transforming it into a weapon that could be used to trap and/or destroy any spirit. Disturbance in the Force

"Oh, my daughter... what have you done?" - Senya Tirall

Soon after Unchaining herself on Nathema, Vaylin boarded The Eternal Flagship class operating close to this planet and addressed its captain (alias Horizon Captain):

She could now wield the Force in even more remarkable ways than before. In a short span, she eliminated some of the strongest Knights of Zakuul in what seems to be exceedingly complex application of Telekinesis on The Eternal Flagship class and reduced The Sanitarium on Nathema to dust and ash with a mere thought from her position in outer-space.

NOTE: This is unprecedented accomplishment for a Force-user on Nathema in view of the fact that its environment made it virtually impractical for Force-users to use their Force powers and many found the mere act of walking on its surface challenging. Vaylin [Chained] could not affect genetically enhanced Acklay beasts with her Force powers that she encountered in open grounds of the Sanitarium earlier (see Skills with a Lightsaber section below for evidence). Lord Lana Beniko was able to Force push Jarak on the other hand but this would be due to Valkorion's support extended to her in this environment who was responsible for ruining this planet in the first place and sustained its corruption until his apparent demise - Lord Lana Beniko felt much unease in this environment before Valkorion accorded his support. Nevertheless, reducing a massive construction and/or setting to dust and ash is infinitely more challenging act of manipulating the external environment than a Force push.

Battle of Odessen [2nd]

"My sister's rage was the only thing giving her troops the will to fight." - Arcann

Vaylin [Unchained] had transformed The Eternal Fleet into a virtually unstoppable force with her abilities in the Force (much like Bastila Shan in the Battle of Rakata Prime centuries earlier and Palpatine in the Battle of Endor thousands of years later) so much so that even the superweapon Gravestone could not make much difference in the Battle of Odessen. The Alliance had no choice but to activate a planetary shield to hold off The Eternal Fleet for as long as possible.

The Alliance Commander agreed to lure Vaylin [Unchained] to the Alliance Base Landing platform on Odessen in a conversation with his allies:

"If you lure her down to the surface, you can confront her face-to-face." - Arcann

- and Senya Tirall promised full support in the expected confrontation:

"You won't have to face her alone. Arcann and I will join you." - Senya Tirall

"I'm honored to have you fighting on my side." - The Alliance Commander

"The honor is ours, Commander. You've given us a chance to atone for our family's crimes. We won't waste it." - Arcann

Vaylin [Unchained] took the bait:

"I've been up an down the battlefield look for you. I can't believe you are cowering on a ship." - The Alliance Commander

"I hide from no one." - Vaylin

"Now that I've broken Father's chains, I could crush you in a second--but that's too easy." - Vaylin

"I will chew up your friends, and grind your precious Alliance into paste. When I finally hunt you down, you'll beg me to end your suffering." - Vaylin

No Caption Provided

- and arrived on the designated spot on Odessen.

INTERJECTION: Taking the bait was a miscalculation on the part of Vaylin [Unchained] - she was already investing a chunk of her energies in her vast application of Battle Meditation to make sure that The Eternal Fleet will prevail no matter the odds and circumstances of the time. This application in itself is so demanding that it warrants full attention of the wielder and make additional commitments virtually impractical in the process (this was the case with one of the most proficient users of this application in Bastila Shan, let alone others). Vaylin [Unchained] however had the capacity to commit to additional set-of-demanding activities while partaking in Battle Meditation on the level of influencing fleets - a clear indication that her powers were beyond the capacity of most to replicate throughout history and she had become a peer of the likes of Valkorion who transcended the Sith and Palpatine who was the ultimate outcome of the Bannite Sith philosophy and possibly the most powerful Sith to ever exist. Nevertheless, it is better to fight on own terms and avoid taking any bait.

Force Maelstrom (or an expression of Force Storm) with Battle Meditation (multi-tasking)

"This isn't over. Even now, my daughter is a threat." - Valkorion

"Oh, Father. You know me so well." - Vaylin

- she still had the strength to maintain her vast application of Battle Meditation and do something big on the ground.

Vaylin [Unchained] unleashed one of the most powerful expressions of Force Storm (or Force Maelstrom) as a retaliatory measure that swiftly overwhelmed and/or immobilized all but The Alliance Commander and began to tear the entire setting apart with its flow of lethal energies:

No Caption Provided

Q: How The Alliance Commander withstood the initial yet overwhelming surge of the Force Storm that completely incapacitated Arcann and Senya otherwise?

A: Valkorion blunted much of that surge for The Alliance Commander:

No Caption Provided

Force Maelstrom is a complex interplay of multiple Force powers including Telekinesis, Force Lightning and Protection Bubble - sheer potency of it would be contingent upon the strength of the wielder nevertheless. This particular application of the Force could be expanded into a Force Storm (Wormhole) with sufficient knowledge and skill as noted by Palpatine in his "Book of Anger." Vaylin [Unchained] was however investing a chunk of her energies in her vast application of Battle Meditation alongside.

"I have no more power over Vaylin. Only you are strong enough to stop this." - Valkorion

No Caption Provided
No Caption Provided

Only The Alliance Commander had the strength to withstand extreme forces of the power unleashed by Vaylin [Unchained] from then on. It shall be kept in mind that The Alliance Commander had surpassed any Jedi (or Sith) in the galaxy and possibly history years before this confrontation took place (see [b] above) and Valkorion contributed much to his strength yet further in order to make it possible for him to fight Vaylin and more:

"You were an exemplary pawn, one I forged into a vessel of supreme power--worthy of preserving my spirit." - Valkorion

See [4] in The Scaling Chains and Estimations section for further insight and evidence.

The Alliance Commander managed to impale Vaylin [Unchained] with his Lightsaber (albeit with great difficulty) before it would be too late for him and his allies because the floor was cracking open as well, but there was another unusual development in the mix:

"This isn't about the throne. It's about stopping you." - The Alliance Commander

No Caption Provided

- Valkorion consumed the life-force and the very essence of his daughter through The Alliance Commander:

No Caption Provided

- and Vaylin [Unchained] dropped dead in another explosion of energy.

Then following updates came:

"The Eternal Fleet just retreated. Every single ship... gone." - Koth Vortena

"Enemy lines have broken! It's a rout! They're surrendering by the thousands!" - Bey'wan Aygo

"My sister's rage was the only thing giving her troops the will to fight." - Arcann

"Then it's over. We've won." - Senya Tirall

REMINDER: Arcann shared a Force Bond with Vaylin and this enabled him to SENSE and understand her abilities and commitments better than most in person.

RECAP and CONCLUSION: The Alliance Commander, Arcann and Senya (GROUP - 1) confronted and fought Vaylin (Unchained) and her escort (GROUP - 2) in a duel in which all members of GROUP - 2 were cut down one by one until only Vaylin [Unchained] remained and then she was driven to her knees as well. However, her significant injuries did not bar her from using her formidable powers in the manner she saw fit - she retained her vast application of Battle Meditation to facilitate The Eternal Fleet and her forces on the ground all the while she produced one of the most powerful expressions of Force Storm which overwhelmed all but the Alliance Commander who managed to kill Vaylin (Unchained) with support of Valkorion. All said and done, it took the combined might of The Alliance Commander and his powerful allies to stop/defeat/kill Vaylin [Unchained] in a confrontation for good. And this was still a circumstantial victory for them. Imagine this.

----------------------------------

Skills with a Lightsaber

Vaylin became one of the most skilled users of a Lightsaber in her time and otherwise. She was not on the level of her mother Senya Tirall in hand-to-hand combat when the two fought on Ord Mantell but she could handle and/or defeat superior swordsmen and even entire groups of skilled combatants with her seamless alternating between Force powers and dueling sequences - when she wasn't toying with her opponents and meant business.

Vaylin was incredibly fast:

Vaylin pounced, hacking and slashing at her mother; what she lacked in technique she more than made up for in speed and relentless aggression.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Knights of the Eternal Throne: A Mother's Hope)

- and her dueling style allowed her to incorporate Force powers in her attacks to devastating effect when desired:

She can't defeat me in hand-to-hand combat, but she could still kill me anytime she likes. She's been toying with me this whole time.

INTERMISSION (The Alliance Commander arrive at the scene)

No Caption Provided

OBSERVATION: Arcann is/was among the most skilled swordsman of The Eternal Empire alongside his mother Senya Tirall and in galactic history by extension, by virtue of the fact that he was able to outduel The Outlander (before becoming The Alliance Commander) on The Asylum and put up a commendable fight in a rematch with The Outlander (after becoming The Alliance Commander and stronger than ever). The Outlander is most likely the legendary Jedi Knight (alias Hero of Tython); this assumption is in sync with official portrayal of this character in updates provided by BioWare corresponding to the Jedi Knight background and recognized as the most powerful Force-user to oppose Valkorion before The Eternal Empire Conquest of the galaxy circa 3636 BBY (see [a] and [b] above, and [4] in The Scaling Chains and Estimations section of PART 2 for further insight).

Vaylin's dueling performance against Arcann in The Spire suggests that she too had become one of the most skilled users of a Lightsaber and she could overwhelm a superior swordsman with her seamless alternating between Force powers and dueling sequences. She could also exploit the environment to her advantage to achieve breakthrough in a duel if necessary.

Vaylin versus genetically enhanced Acklay beasts

Vaylin [Chained] then ignited her Lightsaber:

- and dispatched them all swiftly as well as comfortably.

No Caption Provided

OBSERVATION: This accomplishment is significant because every Force-user was compromised in the aspect of using the Force on Nathema while walking on its surface due to the VOID factor. Therefore, mainly Vaylin's technical skills with a Lightsaber could help her carry in this battle and its outcome is self-explanatory.

Acklay are incredibly tough and deadly macropredators - each is capable of taking on, killing and consuming multiple living beings in a single hunt.

The voracious acklay hunts constantly to stave off an endless hunger. It prefers to target groups of prey, striking multiple targets with claws, pincers, and teeth before retreating silently to feast on its victims. Only when acklay completely gorge themselves do they avoid hunting, and their rapid metabolism ensures their reluctance to feed only lasts a short time.

Recently, an entire squad of Imperial Shock Troopers vanished when exploring the prison world of Belsavis. Weeks later, six complete sets of armor were found in the belly of an acklay that strayed too close to the Imperial landing zone.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Encyclopedia)

To shed further light on the level of dueling skill, physical strength, and speed required to deal with these beasts, Master Obi-Wan Kenobi had his hands full with a single Acklay beast in a battle on Geonosis:

"Straight ahead," Obi-Wan told himself as the acklay came at him, its huge claws snapping in the air. He went left, then right, then rolled forward at the beast, between the mighty arms and snapping claws, coming around and over with his borrowed lightsaber stabbing straight ahead, burning a hole in the creature's chest. The acklay dived forward, trying to crush him under its bulk, and the Jedi leapt straight up as he connected. He came down on its back, landing lightly and stabbing repeatedly, before leaping away once more.

"Straight ahead," he told himself again as the enraged beast charged yet again. Obi-Wan noted the blaster bolt coming at him from the side at the very last second, and turned his lightsaber down and under, deflecting the bolt right into the acklay's face. The creature hardly slowed and the Jedi had to throw himself to the ground to dodge a swiping, snapping claw. He rolled out to the side, to avoid a stomping leg, and managed to slash out again, cutting a deep gash. The acklay howled and came on, and more blaster bolts came at the Jedi. His lightsaber worked furiously, brilliantly, turning one bolt after another right into the charging beast, finally slowing it and stunning it. Obi-Wan rushed in and leapt and stabbed, right in the face. He caught his foot on the creature's shoulder and ran right past it. He heard it fall behind him, thrashing in its death throes, but he knew that battle was done and went back to work on the battle droids.

From (Star Wars: Attack of the Clones: Novelization)

Nick Gillard marked Master Obi-Wan as a TIER 7 in times of the Episode 2 film and TIER 8 in times of the Episode 3 film. He marked Master Kit Fisto as a TIER 7 who in turn could outduel General Grievous. Now these Jedi are commonly declared EXPERT swordsmen in the lore and otherwise. Therefore, imagine the level of skill and speed required to handle 3 x Acklay beasts while next to each other and attacking the same individual, and this too in an environment where every Force-user was compromised in the aspect of using the Force. Genetically enhanced Acklay beasts were more capable than the normal ones as well. Therefore, Vaylin is comfortably TIER 8 (bordering TIER 9) by the time she dueled Arcann in the Knights of the Eternal Throne expansion set.
