Tenebrae - slave to HUNGER (and) False Sith

"Valkorion. Tenebrae. Vitiate. Emperor of the Sith. My low-born son has worn many masks." (Lord Dramath)

DISCLAIMER: Tenebrae's story has concluded in the Knights of the Eternal Throne expansion of the ambitious SWTOR project and a true picture of this character has come to light at last. This blog is intended to highlight this true picture with two major observations.

Tenebrae - slave to HUNGER?

INDEED

Sources give the impression that Tenebrae borrowed HUNGER from the NATHEMA experiment as an unintended side-effect of his immortality; HUNGER that had to be appeased/satiated non-stop.

Hint # 1:

Revan came close to grasping the true picture of Tenebrae:

"When the Emperor broke my will, he looked into my mind, and I was able to see the reflection of his own evil. Invading the Republic is only the first step of his plan. He has become obsessed with power and immortality. The dark side is like a cancer inside him; it grows faster than he can feed it. He has consumed an entire world, but he still hungers. And with his hunger comes an all-consuming fear. He has lived a thousand years; he knows he could live many thousands more. He is terrified of death."

Hint # 2:

Explicit confirmation here:

REVAN COULD FEEL THE EMPEROR FEEDING ON HIM, drawing on his power to sate his endless hunger.

Taken from Star Wars: The Old Republic: Revan

Hint # 3:

Lord Dramath nailed it in a conversation with the Outlander and Lana Beniko:

"He lured many Sith Lords here before consuming them in a dark ritual that wiped out all life on the planet." (Lord Dramath)

"He did something similar on Ziost." (Lana Beniko)

"His hunger for immortality must constantly be fed." (Lord Dramath)

NOTE: This footage captures one of the most interesting aspects of the overarching story in SWTOR and offers a summary of the true nature of Tenebrae.

---

That is why Tenebrae continued to siphon energy or lifeforce of his subjects (alive and dead) throughout the span of his existence.

Tenebrae - an imposter (FALSE SITH)?

INDEED

Tenebrae was never a Sith in true sense of the word. He was not keen in seeking formal training in the ways of the Sith and partake in the Great Hyperspace War. To him, the Sith were just a means to an end.

Take a look at this exchange of dialogue between Darth Marr, the Outlander and Tenebrae:

"A new name, a new face... these are not enough to hide from us." (Darth Marr)

"The Sith Emperor... your presence is unmistakable." (the Outlander)

"Oh, I think a mistake has been made... but my whom?" (Valkorion)

"A second Empire? Even you couldn't have built all of this. There must be another explanation." (the Outlander)

"You presume limits to my power. There are none." (Valkorion)

"Your constant silence across our history... this was your distraction? (Darth Marr)

"This was my focus. Everything else... the means to an end." (Valkorion)

"You claim to have come all this way to find me. Here I am. What do want?" (Valkorion)

"You manipulate whole civilizations, arrange decades of war, eradicate all life on Ziost... then flee. You're going to tell me why. (the Outlander)

Very telling.

NOTE: Tenebrae's periods of absence in the Sith Empire are best explained by his investment in Zakuul, forging a new Empire from scratch in absolute secrecy from the prying eyes of both Sith and Jedi.

Founding new Orders of Force-users:

Tenebrae deemed the Sith philosophy archaic for his tastes:

The Immortal Emperor is his latest mask and Zakuul his greatest, most ambitious endeavor: an idealistic playground where he can shed his past and experience a new life unburdened by archaic Sith teachings.

Taken from KOTFE - Codex Entry - Valkorion

- and wanted to chart his own course to unprecedented power and saw that opportunity in Zakuul. Not surprisingly, he founded two new Orders of Force-users known as Knights of Zakuul and Scions of Zakuul; focus of the former on combat-related roles and focus of the latter on unlocking the mysterious of the Force. Light or Dark - both paths were fair game for these Orders to achieve a higher understanding of the Force.

Tenebrae also founded the specialized Order of Nathema Zealots in Nathema:

A secretive group of powerful Force-sensitives, the Nathema Zealots live in total isolation on the blighted world. Founded by Valkorion, the Nathema Zealots are among the only Force-sensitive beings able to withstand the horrors of the void through a regime of daily rituals and intense meditation. However, while their mental conditioning focuses their power, it simultaneously erodes their free will.

This was not accidental, as Valkorion sought to create an army of completely subservient yet incredibly powerful Force users. However, one unexpected side effect was that the Nathema Zealots grew dependent on the void for their existence, and became catatonic if they left Nathema's surface.

Hoping to extract some value from his failed experiment, Valkorion used the Nathema Zealots as wardens for the prisoners he sent to Nathema's Sanitarium. He also recruited the Anomid scientist Jarak to study their mental conditioning so he could use it to control his daughter Vaylin.

Taken from KOTET - Codex Entry - Nathema Zealots

NOTE: Nathema Zealots are not Sith. They are unique in the sense that they adapted to conditions in Nathema, a seemingly impossible task for other Orders.

Important case studies

Tenebrae (himself) remained predominantly DARK but did not hesitate to explore the path of Light and/or other cultures pertaining to the use of the Force; he took keen interest in Voss (species) for example.

SPECULATION: Insight from Voss could be a motivating factor in founding the Order of Scions of Zakuul.

Tenebrae also took keen interest in understanding the powers of Revan. This particular subject had achieved a higher understanding of the Force than any Jedi or Sith in history by incorporating the elements of both Light and Dark paths in his exploits:

Three centuries ago, Revan wielded the dual philosophies of Sith passion and Jedi tranquility to conquer his enemies; he even nearly assassinated the Sith Emperor.

Taken from Star Wars: The Old Republic: Encyclopedia

Revan's power had grown to the extent that he came close to stopping Tenebrae in a fight - nobody else offered as much challenge to Tenebrae as Revan earlier.

SPECULATION: Insight from Revan could be a motivating factor to establish Orders that would be willing to embrace both Light and Dark paths to understand the ways of the Force.

---

Lord Dramath nailed it again in a conversation with the Outlander and Lana Beniko:

"Valkorion. Tenebrae. Vitiate. Emperor of the Sith. My low-born son has worn many masks."

This also explains why Marka Ragnos chose Exar Kun to serve the Sith cause:

THE FACT THAT THE SPIRITS OF THE ANCIENT SITH LORDS SUPPORTED EXAR KUN SUGGESTS THAT THEY DID NOT, AND PERHAPS DO NOT, SUPPORT THE SITH EMPEROR WE FACE TODAY. (Master Gnost-Dural)

Of-course Master Gnost-Dural! Tenebrae was a FALSE SITH or IMPOSTER, willing to imprison or destroy Sith spirits, should they ever make contact.

Tenebrae perceived Sith Spirits as a threat to his rule and sought to destroy (or) imprison them in the Dark Temple to draw knowledge from them and/or feed on their energy.

Burial place, prison, and reliquary, the Dark Temple was built on the orders of the Emperor to seal away powerful artifacts and the Emperor's enemies, both alive and dead. The temple became a nexus of dark side energy as the Emperor performed rituals within, drawing strength and knowledge from his captives.

Taken from Star Wars: The Old Republic: Encyclopedia

---

Hundreds of years ago, the Sith Emperor ordered the construction of the Dark Temple as a burial place for his dead and defeated enemies, "to aid them in becoming one with the Force." Little is known of what rituals the Emperor performed there, but the Dark Temple has become a nexus of powerful dark side energy, and a place where ancient weapons and ancient secrets of the Sith lay sealed away in cavernous chambers.

Taken from SWTOR - Codex Entry - Dark Temple

---

Further evidence comes from the observations that Tenebrae imprisoned the spirit of his biological father Lord Dramath in his holocron in order to torment him for eternity and was willing to destroy the spirits of Naga Sadow and Vodal Kressh, should they ever make contact with him.

Marka Ragnos possibly saw through the deception and avoided contact with Tenebrae.

Cheating corporeal death and abilities outside a corporeal vessel: Valkorion versus Palpatine (Revisited)

DISCLAIMER: Cross-era comparisons of characters in terms of strength are mired by subjectivity and hype in the ever-expanding Star Wars lore and affiliated discussions [refer to the comments section of this blog below]. It is difficult to find a common ground to make a cross-era comparison of characters in terms of strength meaningful and fruitful. Towards this end, this blog draw a comparison between Palpatine's abilities (and limitations) as a spirit and Valkorion's abilities (and limitations) as a spirit - a parameter which will make it convenient for a curious reader to realize who became the ultimate expression of the Dark Side. This is a critical assessment, therefore, hyperboles and accolades will take a back-footing and actual demonstrations - outside a corporeal vessel - will be accounted for vis-a-vis both characters.

NOTE: The terms 'essence' and 'spirit' are treated as synonymous and used interchangeably in this blog.

This blog represents a subsection of the Valkorion Respect Thread.

Palpatine (Legends)

Palpatine acquired the ability of Essence Transfer at some point:

Even as he perished, Palpatine used the dark side knowledge the Sith Lords had granted him earlier to rend space itself and transmigrate his essence across lightyears to Droga's body.

From (Star Wars Gamer 5: The Emperor's Pawns)

Palpatine managed to retain his identity (i.e. essence) with sheer force of will after his death in the Battle of Endor.

Palpatine's body was destroyed. Separated from his clones, Palpatine was forced to survive in the maddening, bodiless existence of the void. Through sheer will he retained his identity, crossing the gulf of space to again take up residence in his clone body. He barely survived Darth Vader's treachery. Palpatine remained sequestered at Byss while he rebuilt his strength, and his Empire.

From (The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia)

Palpatine's essence took a year to reach Byss and almost perished during the course of this journey:

He had spent over a year disembodied, formless, drifting through the maddening void of the Dark Side.

From (The Dark Empire Sourcebook)

--

He had never foreseen having to transport his spirit so far across space. He had nearly dispersed forever, but he had survived, and now need never fear death again.

From (The Dark Empire Sourcebook)

Palpatine - Jeng Droga connection (the missing piece of the puzzle)

A notable servant of Palpatine, the Force-sensitive Hand Jeng Droga, made the journey of Palpatine's essence to Byss possible because they shared an acute psychic connection with each other; Palpatine's essence was arguably anchored to him:

Even as he perished, Palpatine used the dark side knowledge the Sith Lords had granted him earlier to rend space itself and transmigrate his essence across lightyears to Droga's body. The infusion of Palpatine's overwhelming dark side energies reduced Jeng to incoherent madness. Eventually, Palpatine's Grand Vizier was able to find Droga and tear the Emperor's essence from Droga's body. Once again, Droga had saved his master.

From (Star Wars Gamer 5: The Emperor's Pawns)

--

Sharing an acute physic connection with Palpatine, Droga supervised the other Hands and guarded the Emperor's yacht, Emperor's Shadow.

From (Star Wars Gamer 5: The Emperor's Pawns)

Another notable servant of Palpatine, Grand Vizier Mas Amedda, approached Jeng Droga and set Palpatine's essence free from this anchorage:

Eventually, Palpatine's Grand Vizier was able to find Droga and tear the Emperor's essence from Droga's body.

From (Star Wars Gamer 5: The Emperor's Pawns)

Supply of clones for sustenance during the course of events in Dark Empire

Palpatine had created and stored a supply of clones on Byss to house his essence, should the need arise:

His death at the hands of Darth Vader was, apparently, merely a setback, and the evil Emperor Palpatine, steeped in the ways of the dark side, seemed prepared for any eventuality. Long before the Rebel Alliance proved to be troublesome for Palpatine, he had discovered that the corrupting power of the dark side had a detrimental effect on his physical form. Utilizing long lost magic and the science of cloning, Palpatine created a steady supply of clones of his own body, into which he could throw his being and thus rule the galaxy forever. It was into one of these clones, located on Palpatine's hidden retreat world, Byss, that Palpatine projected himself.

From (Star Wars Handbook # 3 - Dark Empire)

Conversely, Palpatine's clones were not perfect and he needed a natural Force-sensitive being to house his vessel for long-term:

Palpatine's own clone bodies were getting further and further away from the original, and thus they were decaying faster and faster. The Emperor needed a new template, a new, powerful body to inhabit and consolidate his control over the galaxy.

From (Star Wars Handbook # 3 - Dark Empire)

--

Because the clones can only contain his evil for limited time, Palpatine strives to take possession of a strong Jedi body. The unborn Solo child would be that vessel, and Luke Skywalker would aid Palpatine in getting it.

From (Star Wars: The Ultimate Visual Guide)

--

Palpatine also knew that Luke's sister, Leia Organa Solo, would attempt to rescue her brother, and unwittingly hand over that which Palpatine truly desired.

From (Star Wars Handbook # 3 - Dark Empire)

Palpatine's enemies eliminated his supply of clones

Luke Skywalker and Camor Jax destroyed and/or sabotaged Palpatine's inventory of clones when they had the chance, restricting Palpatine to a single clone which he managed to possess in time:

Before the decrepit Palpatine could use his sorcery to switch into one of his new clones, a grim Luke Skywalker marched into the laboratory chamber and smashed tank after tank. But Palpatine succeeded in transferring his consciousness into one of the last remaining clones, a strong and agile fifteen year old. Filled with dark side power, the reborn Emperor engaged Skywalker in a ferocious lightsaber duel and forced the Jedi Knight into submission.

From (Star Wars: The New Essential Chronology)

--

Resisting the Dark Side one last time, Luke was able to destroy almost all of the Emperor's clones-in-waiting before he succumbed to Palpatine's strength.

From (Star Wars Handbook # 3 - Dark Empire)

--

Though Palpatine seemed to be winning the war of his conquest, his final cloned body has begun to fail him, aging at a rapid rate and eaten from the inside by a sabotage of Camor Jax. He tried to clone other bodies so that he could resurrect himself again, but Jax's manipulations had tainted even the genetic source material. Palpatine's scientists and physicians could offer no solution.

From (Star Wars: The New Essential Chronology)

Vulnerability of Palpatine's essence to pull of the VOID in the absence of the supply of clones

Palpatine could not resist pull of the VOID forever, therefore possessing a corporeal vessel was becoming a necessity for him because his current (and last) cloned body was in decline:

The Emperor continued his galaxy gun attacks but it was becoming more and more obvious that his cloned body would not live much longer. Without a new body he would be resigned to utter madness beyond death.

From (Star Wars Handbook # 3 - Dark Empire)

In desperation, Palpatine initially sought advice from the Sith spirits on Korriban about how to halt the decay of his current (cloned) flesh but their collective response was a vision of a Force-sensitive infant:

Palpatine traveled to Korriban, the hidden world-crypt of the Sith Lords and Palpatine's private place of power. Here among the vaults containing the mortal remains of thousands of Sith lords, Palpatine would ask for the Sith spirit's help in halting the decay of his flesh. Instead the spirits fed him a vision of the infant Anakin Solo. Palpatine would have to transfer his spirit into the child.

From (Star Wars Handbook # 3 - Dark Empire)

--

"NO! NOT THAT ... YOUR SPIRITS GUIDED ME BACK TO THIS LIFE WHEN I WAS DESTROYED BY VADER ... AND BY HIS CHILDREN ... MY AGING CLONE BODY WILL SOON DIE. I NEED HEALING ... NOW." - Palpatine to unidentified Sith Spirit on Korriban

From (Dark Empire III: Empire's End)

--

Palpatine could only rule the galaxy while he yet lived, and his current clone, so far from the original, was decaying at an advanced state. He needed fresh genetic stock, strong in the Force, with which he would create a new, endless sources of clones. Of course there was no better candidates than the children of Luke Skywalker's sister, Leia Organa Solo

From (Star Wars Handbook # 3 - Dark Empire)

Palpatine was running out of options now and proceeded to acquire infant Anakin Solo in Onderon. Palpatine attempted to subdue Leia Organa Solo first but she was stronger now and repulsed his attack successfully; this setback backfired on Palpatine and he was significant weakened as a consequence:

Journeying to Onderon where Leia Organa Solo had taken sanctuary among the beastriders, Palpatine disguised as a pilgrim and crept inside to confront the mother and child. But Leia had grown strong in the Force under the tutelage of her brother and repulsed Palpatine's attack, weakening his body considerably.

From (Star Wars Handbook # 3 - Dark Empire)

Even in a significantly compromised condition, Palpatine still had some offense left in him, killing two padawans in his path:

But Palaptine's resolve was powerful enough to fight back, and as Luke Skywalker's Jedi trainees filed in to protect Anakin, Palpatine cut them down. In a final bid Palpatine reached out to grasp Anakin, but was shot down by Anakin's father Han.

From (Star Wars Handbook # 3 - Dark Empire)

--- and mortally wounded two more:

Rayf Yasnna and Empatoyajous Brand were both mortally wounded in the confrontation.

From (Star Wars: The New Essential Chronology)

Palpatine's essence vs. Jedi Empatojayus Brand in a clash of wills; the Jedi is victorious

Palpatine eventually lost his final clone during the ongoing confrontation but his essence departed his body and attempted to possess the child in a last ditch effort to cheat death. Unfortunately for Palpatine, a mortally wounded Jedi named Empatojayos Brand intercepted his essence and sealed its fate with his own death afterwards.

But as his spirit rose from his body and shot towards the defenseless child, the Jedi Empatojayos Brand, mortally wounded during the battle, intercepted it and took Palpatine within himself. As Brand died, he took Palpatine with him, and the once-great Emperor of a million worlds was no more.

From Star Wars Handbook # 3 - Dark Empire

--

As the Emperor fell towards death yet again, he attempted to send his spirit into the baby Anakin - but Empatojayos Brand intercepted the dark essence. Clasping himself to the light, Brand held the Emperor's presence within his body as they both succumbed to death.

With all of his clones destroyed, Emperor Palpatine was finally defeated.

From (Star Wars: The New Essential Chronology)

--

Before his soul could enter Anakin's body, Palpatine was intercepted by a newfound Jedi Empatojayos Brand. Cut off from host body, Palpatine's essence dissipated, to be consumed by madness that was the Dark Side. After so many decades of bloodshed, the Emperor was truly dead.

From (The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia)

--

HAN: What is going on?

LUKE: The Emperor is free of his physical body! He's trying to take control of Anakin!

BRAND: (strained) Give me the boy.

LEIA: Brand...I thought you were...

BRAND: QUICKLY!!! I will shield him.

Sound: Leia hands Anakin to Brand. Palpatine's spirit lunges at Anakin once again, and Brand puts himself between the spirit and the child.

EMPEROR'S SPIRIT: (fighting with Brand's spirit) No! I will take the child. You are not strong enough to defy me!!!

BRAND: I will find the strength!

Sound: Brand and Palpatine's spirits wrestle furiously for control with the Force. Suddenly a victor emerges, and Brand falls to the floor clanking.

HAN: He's gone.

LEIA: What happened?

LUKE: Brand, are you...?

BRAND: I...have the Emperor. He is in me:

LUKE: Can you hold him?

BRAND: I...think so. I.... am dying, Luke, and the Emperor will die with me. He will never, ever return. Farewell, Luke Skywalker:

Sound: Brand's machinery stops making noises as he dies. Anakin starts to wail again.

LEIA: Anakin! Oh, Anakin, it's all right:

HAN: Brand saved him!

From Dark Empire III: Empire's End

NOTE: Empatoyajous Brand defeated Palpatine's essence in a contest of wills but succumbed to his wounds; during his last moments, Brand mused that "The Force" and "Jedi spirits" would prevent return of Palpatine from the void for eternity afterwards.

Observations:

The ability to transcend death is not exclusive to Jedi: Emperor Palpatine and the ancient Sith Lords Marka Ragnos managed to preserve their psyches after their deaths, but it seems their spiritual forms were restricted by certain boundaries and limitations. Palpatine's spirit required cloned bodies to manifest his powers; Marka Ragnos's and Exar Kun's spirits were essentially trapped within Sith-engineered temples for thousands of years.

From (Jedi vs. Sith: The Essential Guide to the Force)

Palpatine (Legends) acquired the ability of Essence Transfer from ancient Sith Spirits at some point in time, and this talent enabled him to cheat death in the Battle of Endor. However, Palpatine's essence barely made to Byss by virtue of his connection to Jeng Droga and depended upon a supply of clones for sustenance.

Palpatine demonstrated the ability to transfer his essence from one cloned body to another from time to time but he fell short of possessing an adult living being. Major reason is that Palpatine's essence was not able to affect the external environment in profound ways, and even lacked the strength to defeat a dying Jedi in this situation.

Valkorion

Valkorion acquired the ability of Essence Transfer at some point; Revan motivated him towards this end.

The Voice is the mouthpiece through which the Emperor delivers his orders. This possessed being sacrifices all consciousness to become a hollow vessel for the Emperor. Over the centuries, the Emperor has taken many Voices from young children to alien species. When the Voice speaks, it does so with the Emperor's cold, emotionless, and commanding tone. The Voice also wields the Emperor's incredible power and is capable of striking down anyone who displeases him. Those who converse with the Voice are overwhelmed with dread and unshakable obedience. To speak with the Voice is to speak with the Emperor himself.

The Emperor created his first Voice after the legendary Jedi named Revan attempted to assassinate him on Dromund Kaas. Though Revan's plot failed, he approached within striking distance of the Emperor. To guard against further vulnerability, the Emperor created the Voice to deliver his orders while distancing himself from the forces that conspired against him. Centuries later, this very safeguard would save the Emperor once more.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Encyclopedia)

Valkorion was masterful in his ability to possess other living beings (from young children to alien species); these vessels came to be known as his Voices. Palpatine was relatively lacking in this department and settled for a supply of clones instead.

-----

During the era of Great Galactic War, Valkorion orchestrated a ritual that would grant him unprecedented power but at the expense of the entire galaxy. However, a coalition of heroes (including Hero of Tython and former Emperor's Wrath) foiled the aforementioned effort through their exploits; Valkorion suffered a setback from such interference and his Voice was also struck down during a covert operation in Dromund Kaas.

NOTE: The aforementioned gif depicts Valkorion's essence departing from a mortally wounded Voice (initially) and unleashing waves of energy which shake the Dark Temple and destroy its chamber where the confrontation took place (subsequently).

Valkorion's essence teleported from the Dark Temple in Dromund Kaas to the Emperor's Sanctuary in Yavin 4 and slumbered there until the entity had the opportunity to recover its strength and activate another Voice. When war came to Yavin 4, Valkorion's essence managed to feed on the deaths of living beings across the planet to recover some of his lost strength; afterwards, Valkorion's essence teleported to another planet named Ziost.

NOTE: The aforementioned gif depicts teleporation effort of Valkorion's essence; it is unleashing waves of energy which in turn are shaking the region violently, and inflict a large number of casualties in the surroundings consequently.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Rise of the Emperor: Codex Entry titled "Vitiate")

--

"We suffered many casualties upon the Emperor's return..."

From (Darth Marr, Star Wars: The Old Republic: Shadow of Revan)

When Valkorion's essence teleported to Ziost, it began to possess the planet's inhabitants and utilize them for violent activities. Valkorion's essence managed to possess civilians, battle-hardened troops (Imperial; Republic) and Force-users (Sith; Jedi) among others; not even the Jedi Masters could resist his influence.

In addition to possessing living beings, Valkorion's essence fed on their deaths (due to violence) to recover his strength further and even created seemingly invincible beings of pure Dark Side energy to fuel violence. A coalition of agents of the Republic and Empire attempted to stop him, using electrostatic weapons, but their efforts were in vain. Valkorion's essence grew in power to such an extent that it devastated the entire world in the aftermath. Details of the exploits of Valkorion on Ziost are in another blog: Cataclysm of planet Ziost

NOTE: The aforementioned footage depicts Valkorion's essence devastating Ziost with a major blast of power. Only Darth Nihilus (a being of pure Dark Side power and unprecedented hunger) and some arcane machines could replicate this feat or close.

-----

After reducing Ziost into a barren wasteland, Valkorion activated another Voice which was governing Empire of Zakuul to consolidate his gains and orchestrate a new war in the galaxy.

The renewed war-effort led to deaths of many Jedi and Sith across the galaxy and two most prominent veterans of the Great Galactic War (the Outlander and Darth Marr) were arrested and brought to the throne of Valkorion above planet Zakuul. The latter demanded the captives to bend their knee and serve him but one of them (i.e. Darth Marr) refused to submit and paid the price with his death. The Outlander also refused (assuming that he is Hero of Tython) to submit and Valkorion instructed his son Arcann to strike him down, but Arcann turned on his father and freed the Outlander. In the ensuing confrontation, Valkorion's latest Voice was also struck down but he cheated death once again by infiltrating the mind of the Outlander.

Arcann, after regaining consciousness, gave orders to his followers to freeze the Outlander in carbonite to contain the threat. 5 years later, Valkorion's essence projected thoughts and illusions into the mind of the Outlander, making the latter aware of various developments across the galaxy during the course of the Outlander's imprisonment.

NOTE: The aforementioned footage (chapter 2 of Knights of the Fallen Empire expansion) depicts Valkorion's essence projecting thoughts and illusions into mind of the Outlander while the latter is frozen in carbonite. It shall be noted that Valkorion's essence was shielding the Outlander's body from the 'poisoning effects' of carbonite freezing throughout the duration of the latter's imprisonment.

--

After the allies of the Outlander set him free, Valkorion's essence would offer his assistance to the Outlander in dire situations and prevent the latter's demise at the hands of Knights of Zakuul and Arcann. Examples provided below.

Primary agenda of Valkorion's essence was to hollow out the Outlander from within (acquire a new body for long-term use), and reclaim the throne. Towards this end, Valkorion's essence enhanced the Force-sensitivity and powers of the Outlander.

"You were an exemplary pawn, one I forged into a vessel of supreme power--worthy of preserving my spirit."

From (Valkorion, Knights of the Eternal Throne: Chapter 9)

Observations:

Valkorion was a master of Essence Transfer technique, and his essence could manifest his powers outside a physical body. Valkorion's essence could unleash extremely powerful waves of energy which could collapse structures, create violent tremors and even ruin a world. Valkorion's essence also projected illusions into the mind of the Outlander and shielded him from poisoning effects of carbonite freezing. Valkorion's essence was also able to lend his powers to the Outlander when the latter was in trouble.

Critical assessment and conclusion

This blog has orchestrated a great deal of discussion among the fans of Star Wars and one of them raised an important point:

Each dark side spirit has a focal point of power that anchors it in the physical world. For example, the interred Sith Lords of Korriban use their burial sarcophagi to hold their spirits for millennia after death. Freedon Nadd clung to his tomb for countless centuries, waiting for the right opportunity to turn his successor to the dark side. Exar Kun - who didn't technically die so much as merge with the dark side and retain his identity - resisted the dissolution of his spirit by drawing on the remarkable focusing energies of the Massassi temples on Yavin 4.

From (The Dark Side Sourcebook)

Palpatine's essence was anchored to his Force-sensitive servant Jeng by virtue of an acute psychic bond between them. This anchorage enabled Palpatine's essence to transmigrate to Byss after his death in the Battle of Endor, and this effort took a year to complete. Palpatine's essence could not manifest his powers outside a physical body, and was vulnerable to the pull of the Void. At most, Palpatine's essence could perform Essence Transfer but his options for possession were limited to clones and infants; it failed to overwhelm and/or possess even a mortally wounded Jedi otherwise, and this was his undoing.

Valkorion's essence was truly unique in that it could manifest his powers outside a physical body. The statement below is enlightening.

The Emperor was no longer a member of the Sith species; his power and immortality had transformed him into a being unique in the galaxy.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Revan)

Therefore, it was possible for Valkorion's essence to resist pull of the Void for indefinite period in the absence of an anchor, and affect external environment in profound ways, and these realities are clearly apparent from his exploits on Ziost. The revelation below is enlightening.

No Caption Provided

Unlike Palpatine, Valkorion could manifest his powers outside a corporeal vessel, and have incredibly impressive showings under his belt as a spirit. This distinction suggest that Valkorion became the ultimate expression of the Dark Side.

Vaylin was extraordinarily powerful in the ways of the Force and reckless to the extent that Valkorion decided to confine her to the Sanitarium on Nathema in order to teach her discipline and control over her abilities.

As a child, her strength in the Force was so great that Valkorion locked her away in a remote compound to teach her obedience and mastery of her powers.

From (Star Wars: Knights of the Eternal Throne: Profile of Vaylin)

----

From the moment his daughter, Vaylin, was born, Valkorion felt her strong connection to the Force. As she grew up, the Immortal Emperor noticed similarities between them, which both pleased and frightened him, and he decided to keep a tight leash on his favorite child. Her father's control curbed her tendencies toward violence and anarchy, but beneath her upbeat and lighthearted exterior lurked a restless hunter, hungry and ambitious.

From (Star Wars: Knights of the Fallen Empire: Codex entry titled "Vaylin.")

Valkorion acknowledged Vaylin as one of the greatest threats in the galaxy.

"We must deal with my errant son and daughter before they ruin everything."

"I knew you wanted something. You can't stop them alone."

"They are deadly - and worse, lack discipline. do not underestimate their threat. It will take both of us to undo the damage they can inflict."

Valkorion saw in Vaylin a potential challenger to his supremacy one day and sought to condition her mind.

Even as a child, Vaylin showed signs of tremendous power. Fearing she would one day challenge him, Valkorion imprisoned his daughter while he sought limits and controls on her power.

Through brutal experiments and mental conditioning, Vaylin was subconsciously trained to respond to a specific phrase: kneel before the Dragon of Zakuul. When spoken by her father, these words prevent Vaylin from unleashing her power and temporarily trap her will in an unbreakable mental prison.

While effective, it is likely the conditioning aggravated Vaylin's violent tendencies and contributed to her mental instability. While trying to cage his daughter's anger, Valkorion transformed her into a monster.

From (Star Wars: Knights of the Eternal Throne: Codex entry titled "Vaylin's conditioning.")

Lana Beniko informed the Outlander that Vaylin's strength in the Force is astounding.

"Her strength in the Force is astounding, even for her family."

Lana Beniko informed the Outlander that Vaylin is capable of inflicting devastation on an unprecedented scale.

"It's Vaylin! She'll bring the whole city crashing down on you if she has to!"

Valkorion warned that Vaylin would become too strong for the Outlander to handle if her growth continues.

"If Vaylin unleashes her full power, even you may not be strong enough to stop her."

In connection with the statement right above, confirmation of the Outlander being stronger than Revan:

But the immortal Emperor could not be vanquished so easily. He evaded death by infiltrating the mind of the Outlander, his most powerful opponent.

Q: What is the Sanitarium?

No Caption Provided

The sole structure on the barren rock of Nathema, the Sanitarium was where Valkorion sent powerful Force users who opposed him for gruesome research experiments. The Force void enveloping the world limited the subjects' ability to resist or escape, making it the perfect laboratory and prison.

The Sanitarium is home to a mysterious sect of Force-sensitives called the Nathema Zealots, though day-to-day order is maintained by the Keepers--specially trained Abyssin who serve as guards and caretakers. The halls are also patrolled by mutated creatures from other worlds that are genetically engineered to instill fear, terror, and obedience in the Sanitarium's unwilling residents. The operation is overseen by an Anomid scientist named Jarak--an outcast among his own kind for the deviant nature of his research.

Vaylin is the only inmate to ever leave Nathema alive, though she still bears the mental scars from the horrors she endured during her incarceration.

Force Maelstrom

A major confrontation with the strike team comprising of powerful Force-users such as the Outlander, Senya, Lana Beniko and Arcann brought Vaylin [unchained] to her knees but she still had the strength to unleash a powerful Force Maelstrom in retaliation that swiftly overwhelmed Senya and Arcann and began to rip the entire setting apart with its sheer intensity and potency. During the attack, Vaylin enclosed herself in a virtually impenetrable sphere of energy for protection.

Defensive abilities, strength and endurance

Tanking a hyperdrive explosion - potent enough to vaporize a powerful Force-user in an instant

Vaylin tanked the explosion of a damaged hyperdrive that was potent enough to atomize anything within its blast radius and set the entire setting ablaze, sparing Senya from a horrible fate.

A shrill whine rose like a scream: the sound of pressurized coolant spewing from a punctured hyperdrive. Senya had just long enough to register what had happened before the damaged hyperdrive exploded.

She came to a few seconds later, groggy, disoriented and with her ears ringing. The blast had thrown her twenty meters; tiny bits of twisted, melted metal that had once been the hull of the ship lay all around her. Forcing herself to her hands and knees, Senya turned her head from side to side, looking for Vaylin. But all she saw was smoke and flame; the fires had spread to consume the entire camp.

Arcann!

Somehow Senya rose unsteadily to her feet, then set off in a stumbling run back towards her ship and her son. As the flames fell farther and farther behind her, her head slowly cleared. Her thoughts briefly turned to the fallen knights, consumed by the funeral pyre that had once been their camp. They'd risked their lives to help her, and Vaylin had slaughtered them all.

She and Arcann were alone again. No allies. Nowhere to turn. But she was still alive… somehow.

The blast should have vaporized me.

There was only one explanation for her survival: Vaylin must have used the Force to shield them both from the worst of the explosion.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Knights of the Eternal Throne: A Mother's Hope)

Enduring the power of BRAIN machine - potent enough to vaporize a powerful Force-user in an instant

Vaylin subjected herself to a machine identified as BRAIN - located inside the Sanitarium on Nathema - in order to break free from her mental conditioning at the hands of Valkorion that restricted her abilities. It shall be kept in mind that no other individual or subject was able to endure exposure to this machine before.

"If you are strong enough to survive the process, your bonds will be broken." (Jarak)

"Have any of your lab rats survived so far? (Vaylin)

"None were as strong as you." (Jarak)

The ritual commenced normally but the BRAIN machine malfunctioned while tapping into Vaylin's power in order to harness it. Now trapped, Vaylin attempted to resist tremendous forces of this machine and this tug-of-war led to deflection of energy beams of BRAIN machine into different directions, atomizing nearby attendants from existence.

No Caption Provided

NOTE: A stray bolt from the machine called BRAIN vaporized a Nathema Zealot with a single hit.

In connection with the revelation above, Nathema Zealots are super-strong Force-users who managed to adapt to the post-apocalyptic conditions of Nathema, a seemingly impossible accomplishment otherwise.

No Caption Provided

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Knights of the Eternal Throne: Codex Entry titled "Nathema Zealots.")

During this tug-of-war between Vaylin and the BRAIN machine, the entire setting violently shook and structures began to collapse in various sections of the Sanitarium.

"Vaylin... something went wrong. Her power is racing out of control. When it erupts, the entire asylum will be destroyed." (Jarak)

Force lightning

Vaylin set the surface ablaze with Force lightning.

She braced herself as brisk footsteps approached. A familiar figure materialized from the darkness, her hands alight with crackling sparks of energy. The fire spread quickly, leaping from puddle to puddle, crisscrossing the surrounding ground to carve out a blazing pattern that lit up the night.

Cataclysm of planet Ziost

DISCLAIMER: The purpose of this blog is to provide a detailed account of devastation of planet Ziost.

This blog represents a subsection of the Valkorion Respect Thread.

Though you leave us

Your humble subjects on Ziost

We know it is not forever.

Though the distance must be great

Your return is a certainty

We know we will be united once more

Though you are away

Your eye gazes upon us

We know you see our doings

Though we are alone

Your lessons remain

We know our considerable duty

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Rise of the Emperor: Codex Entry titled "The Emperor's Eye.")

----------------------------------

Introduction

No Caption Provided

Situated in the heart of Imperial Space, Ziost has long played a vital role in the intricate history of the Sith. For thousands of years, in fact, the craggy, arid world served as the ancient Sith Empire's capital until infighting splintered its leadership. Today, Ziost remains an important commercial, political and population center of the Empire--this in spite of its shift from a warm climate with dense forests to a bitterly cold tundra. Whether this environmental turnabout is due to geological reasons or eons of dark side influence remains a subject of scholarly consideration.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Rise of the Emperor: Codex Entry titled "Ziost.")

Ziost was among the greatest population centers of the reconstituted ancient Sith Empire.

Before the cataclysm

During the era of Great Galactic War, an entity (identified as Valkorion at a later stage) orchestrated a ritual that would grant him unprecedented power but at the expense of the entire galaxy. However, a coalition of heroes (including Barsen'thor III, Hero of Tython and the former Emperor's Wrath) foiled that effort through their exploits; Valkorion suffered a setback from such interference and his Voice was also struck down during a covert operation in Dromund Kaas. At the brink of defeat, Valkorion sought refuge in planet Yavin 4 to recuperate and make a comeback when the time was right. An opportunity came when Revan visited Yavin 4 and attempted to perform a ritual to resurrect Valkorion and deliver a final blow to him but his plan was also foiled by the coalition. However, it was too late; Valkorion recovered enough of his strength (to affect the external environment in profound ways) by feeding on the deaths of a large number of individuals on this planet due to war and teleported to Ziost afterwards.

When Valkorion came to Ziost, he began to possess its inhabitants and utilize them for violent activities.

Unleashed from his sanctuary on Yavin 4, the former Sith Emperor has now struck the Imperial world of Ziost. Using his immense power in the dark side of the Force, he has dominated the minds of the planet’s Imperial troops--as well as an elite cadre of militaristic Jedi--and has set them against the populace, engaging in a bloody slaughter.

Valkorion's plan was to continue to feed on the deaths of other individuals to fuel his power until he would recover his strength and become strong enough to kill the world.

In addition to possessing inhabitants and utilizing them for violent activities, Valkorion also created vicious monsters to contribute to bloodshed and violence across the world.

Given enough intellect, knowledge, fortitude and power, Sith alchemy can be used to achieve the seemingly impossible, such as transforming flesh and bone to form vicious Sithspawn such as the imposing Massassi and the unstoppable Terentatek. But Monoliths are something beyond Sithspawn: they are everlasting monstrosities built not on a foundation of living tissue but of dark side energy itself. Enduring and merciless and quite possibly unkillable, Monoliths plainly illustrate the immeasurable power of their creator and are best avoided at all costs.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Rise of the Emperor: Codex Entry titled "Monolith.")

The leadership of the Republic established a Joint Task Force to defeat Valkorion after his reemergence and welcomed volunteers from all over the galaxy for the said purpose but such efforts did not yield desirable results since Valkorion proved too powerful.

No Caption Provided

In response to the Emperor's return, the Republic Strategic Information Service has begun to assemble a joint task force with the sole purpose of finding the ancient Sith ruler and destroying him at last. Initially proposed by SIS agent Theron Shan, the organization will eventually include representatives from the Jedi Order, Republic Special Forces, "paid consultants" from the underworld--anyone who can contribute to the Emperor's downfall.

As with anything in the Republic, it's possible that politics may play a part in the group's final assembly and resources. But given that its founding members witnessed the return of the Emperor firsthand, it's unlikely that anything will be allowed to impede the task force's progress for long.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Shadow of Revan: Codex Entry titled "The Joint Task Force.")

Interestingly, Vallorion spared one of the volunteers a horrible fate by warning him to leave the planet before he would commence cataclysm. This volunteer would be recognized as the Outlander later. Relevant statements from a conversation between the two provided below.

"I have already cheated death. I have other plans now as you will see."

Apocalypse

Global cataclysms are not unheard of. Whole worlds teeming with life have been rendered lifeless by meteorites, broken apart by instability in the planet's own core--even atomized by the destructive force of a supernova. But the eerie calm of a world stripped of life yet left otherwise intact is another matter altogether. Whispered rumors have persisted of planets snuffed out through intricate Sith rituals or by way of deadly, arcane machines--such as the device Revan sought to employ on Yavin 4--but Ziost represents a clear display of the corrosive power of the dark side of the Force taken to its extreme.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Rise of the Sith Emperor: Codex Entry titled "Death of a World.")

After acquiring unfathomable power, Valkorion channeled it into an attack and unleashed a tsunami of dark side energy of apocalyptic proportions on Ziost; this expression of Force Drain disintegrated life-forms, ravaged fauna, consumed oceans, corrupted the planet's atmosphere, and also caused seismic activity across the planet (leading to further destruction).

Ziost's post-apocalyptic conditions resemble those of Medriaas (Nathema); another world that suffered a similar fate centuries ago.

Scourge was well acquainted with death. He had no trouble understanding massacres and mass slaughter. Death and destruction unleashed powerful emotions like fear, suffering, and hatred; they fueled the power of the dark side. But what had happened on Nathema was different, and it disturbed him in a deep and profound way.

The Emperor had consumed everything. Life, sound, color, even the Force—nothing remained. This wasn’t about conquest or domination or destroying an enemy—all concepts Scourge embraced.

Everything on Nathema had simply been snuffed out, extinguished so completely that it ceased to have any meaning or purpose. It was a vacuum of existence; a blight on the natural order.

Members of ZLF (Ziost Liberation Front)

No society is devoid of the potential for raucous dissent from its people, and tightly controlled populations are the most prone to opposition being expressed through horrific acts of violence. Through the centuries, Ziost has been the focus of many attempts at bloody revolution. Though no uprising has been successful to date, their cost in lives, property and stability have taken a toll on the one-time Sith capital.

The most recent revolt came in the form of vicious attacks from the Ziost Liberation Front, a group of guerrilla fighters officially recognized by the Sith Empire as a terrorist organization. The ZLF did not discern between military and civilian targets in their desperate campaign to overthrow the Empire, making the group feared even by those they claimed to be fighting for. They were eventually snuffed out, but not before causing severe damage to New Adasta's infrastructure. As a result of the ZLF's actions, the Empire has taken considerable steps to ensure they can obstruct the acts of a hostile populace in New Adasta with ease and haste, should the need arise.

Power progression and evolution of Valkorion

DISCLAIMER: The purpose of this blog is to clarify following:

1) Tenebrae's growth in power with passage of time.

2) Tenebrae's evolution with passage of time.

3) Tenebrae's shift in identity with passage of time.

This blog represents a subsection of the Valkorion Respect Thread.

----------------------------------

1) POWER PROGRESSION:

Tenebrae became more powerful with passage of time.

Servants of the Hand share their Master's longevity, living untouched by age for centuries under his command. In return, the Emperor draws on his servant's strength in the Force and body to feed his ever-increasing power, leaving the servants withered and frail.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Encyclopedia)

---

A being of unfathomable power and insatiable appetite, he transcended death multiple times, shedding his physical shells as they were discovered, defeated, and destroyed... only to return in another form.

With each rebirth, he grew stronger.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Knights of the Fallen Empire: Codex Entry titled "Valkorion.")

Growth in power is visible in a chronological span of events:-

1. Capability to defeat a Sith Lord at the age of 10:

Tenebrae defeated a Sith Lord at the age of 10, in 5103 BBY.

Tenebrae broke Lord Dramath's mind, but not before revealing that he was actually his son.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Encyclopedia)

&

Lord Dramath intended to judge the child’s power to determine if he was worthy of serving the Sith Lord, or if he should simply be executed. But Tenebrae had no intention of serving—or of dying. When they met face-to-face, Tenebrae proved the stronger. Only ten years old, he stripped his father of his power and his mind.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Revan)

2. Capability to rule over a planet at the age of 13:

Tenebrae became the ruler of planet Medriaas (his homeworld) at the age of 13, in 5100 BBY.

The child who will come to be known as the Sith Emperor is born. Black-eyed, heartless, and supremely strong in the dark side of the Force, the boy seizes control of his homeworld by the age of 13 and earns the title Lord Vitiate. He amasses an army of Sith followers and turns his back on Imperial politics to hone his skills in the dark side.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Encyclopedia)

3. Growth in power via a ritual:

Tenebrae orchestrated an ambitious ritual in 4999 BBY that granted him corporeal immortality at the expense of other participants and enhanced his strength in the Force to the extent that he became stronger than any ancient Sith who had existed earlier.

Lord Vitiate takes command of the Sith Empire, now in shambles following the Great Hyperspace War. He executes the Sith Council and consumes the life force of thousands of Sith Lords in a terrifying ritual that extends his life and vastly increases his capacity as a practitioner of the Force.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Encyclopedia)

&

But the ritual was not confined to the doomed Sith Lords. They were but the eye of the storm; the center of a vortex that spread across the entire planet. Every man, woman, and child on Nathema died that day. Every beast, bird, and fish; all the insects and plants; every living being touched by the Force was consumed. When the ritual ended, Nathema was no longer a world. It was a husk sucked dry. Lord Vitiate sacrificed millions, stealing their life force to make himself immortal. Their deaths also made him stronger than any Sith who had come before, and he ceased to be known as Lord Vitiate. On that day, the Emperor was truly born.

From (Darth Nyriss, Star Wars: The Old Republic: Revan)

&

The ritual had obviously destroyed Nathema, snuffing out all life on the world. Lord Vitiate had offered his people hope, and instead had brought them a fate worse than death—utter eradication of life, existence, and even the Force.

Meetra was no expert on dark side sorcery, but it was safe to assume Vitiate not only survived the ritual, but emerged more powerful than ever.

And with the destruction of everyone on Nathema—including his research team—he alone would have known the location of Dromund Kaas.

The plan was both horrifying and brilliant. In addition to becoming more powerful than Meetra could imagine, Vitiate could blame the extinction of his homeworld on the Jedi, further panicking the remaining Sith worlds.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Revan)

NOTE: Tenebrae, at this point, emerged stronger than any ancient Sith in history including Ajunta Pall, Karness Muur, Sorzus Syn, XoXaan, Remulus Dreypa, Tulak Hord, Naga Sadow, and Marka Ragnos.

4. Capability to corrupt the environment of a planet:

After setting foot on planet Dromund Kaas, Tenebrae honed his Alter Environment abilities to perfection with passage of time and altered the environment of Dromund Kaas as a consequence. Tenebrae corrupted the atmosphere of Dromund Kaas initially, a development that engulfed the entire planet in darkness and thunder storms.

Power hungry, the Emperor spent great energy discovering and perfecting esoteric rites of darkness – rituals that wrecked the atmosphere of Dromund Kaas, transforming the ionosphere into a swirling electric storm.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Holonet)

&

Storms were common here on Dromund Kaas; dark clouds perpetually blocked out the sun, rendering terms like day and night meaningless.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Revan)

&

MEETRA FOUGHT TO KEEP the Ebon Hawk steady on its descent through the fierce storms raging in the skies above Kaas City spaceport. She knew the storm-ravaged world had to be the world Canderous had spoken of; the one Revan had seen in his dreams. The dark side was powerful here.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Revan)

5. Capability to create a powerful nexus of dark side energy:

In connection with revelation no. 4 above, Tenebrae created a powerful nexus of dark side energy on planet Dromund Kaas by virtue of his dark activities.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Encyclopedia)

&

Hundreds of years ago, the Sith Emperor ordered the construction of the Dark Temple as a burial place for his dead and defeated enemies, “to aid them in becoming one with the Force.” Little is known of what rituals the Emperor performed there, but the Dark Temple has become a nexus of powerful dark side energy, and a place where ancient weapons and ancient secrets of the Sith lay sealed away in cavernous chambers. Although the Dark Temple grounds have always been a dangerous place for the weak-willed (the expansion of the Kaas City power grid into tunnels beneath the temple drove a thousand slaves mad), the temple itself remained sealed until recently, when an expedition of power-hungry Sith Lords and their servants breached the gateway. The Dark Council did not sanction this intrusion, nor did it punish the rogue Sith; no one returned from the expedition to punish. Violent electrical storms surrounded the temple for the first week after it was opened, and since then, additional expeditions have been sent by the council to determine the temple’s status. Their reports have not been made public.

5. Capability to defeat Strike Teams of powerful Force-users in single combat:

Tenebrae's growth in power began to reflect on his combat prowess as well since he managed to subdue entire Strike Teams of powerful Force-users in confrontations. First known event of this magnitude occurred during the era of Darth Lokess.

Example 1 - Tenebrae defeated a Sith Strike Team led by Darth Lokess (representing an entire rebellious Dark Council) with his powers.

He allowed their plan to play out, but when they gathered to confront the Emperor, his punishment was swift and devastating. Eleven members of the Dark Council died in a sudden flash on the steps of the Citadel. The last member Darth Lokess, disappeared forever, though for some centuries some claimed her screams could be heard from the bowels of the Citadel.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Encyclopedia)

Example 2 - Tenebrae eliminated 9 members of another Dark Council in his throne room with his powers as narrated by Sith Lord Scourge:

"It wasn't just Nyriss who was attacked. The Emperor killed them all."

"The files you showed me listed five current members of the Dark Council plotting against him,"

Meetra said, looking to clarify. "Are you saying the Emperor's Guard wiped out all five in the space of a single day?"

"I said he killed them all," Scourge replied. Revan asked. "He attacked a dozen of the most powerful Sith Lords in their seats of power simultaneously? How many troops does he have?"

"All twelve members of the Dark Council—even those who weren't part of the conspiracy. He wanted to send a message no one would ever forget."

"How is that possible?"

"The Imperial Guard were only unleashed on Nyriss and two others. The Emperor must have assumed they were the ones least likely to answer his summons. The other nine were called together in the hours before the attack to meet with the Emperor at his citadel. None of them left alive."

From (Lord Scourge, Star Wars: The Old Republic: Revan)

Example 3 - Tenebrae subdued the duo of legendary warriors Revan and Malak with barely an effort.

Over 300 years ago, the great Jedi heroes Revan and Malak stumbled upon long-hidden Sith Empire's capital of Dromund Kaas, and its ruler - a mysterious, almost godlike avatar of the dark side. They argued briefly over whether to alert the Republic and Jedi Council, but Revan was already too consumed by arrogance and anger to consider the possibility of defeat. By the time Revan and Malak approached the Emperor in his throne room, they were already at the precipice of the dark side. It took only a fraction of the Emperor's loathsome power to complete their fall. The Jedi succumbed utterly to the Sith leader's domination and returned to the Republic to spark a new conflict: the Jedi Civil War.

Realizing this Empire was the true threat to the Republic, Revan and Malak faced the Sith Emperor himself, intending to cut off the serpent's head--but the Emperor was too powerful. Overwhelmed by the Emperor's dark presence, they pledged themselves to his service.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Codex Entry titled "Galactic History 74: Revan and Malak Fall.")

Example 4 - Tenebrae easily defeated a Jed Strike Team led by Master Tol Braga with his powers.

With Grand Master Satele Shan's support, Master Braga assembles a strike team of the strongest and most resolute Jedi in the order. Their goal is to pinpoint the Emperor's hidden fortress, capture the Sith leader alive, and turn him to the light side. The Jedi do not realize that they have underestimated the true extent of the Emperor's power. It is an error that will cost them dearly.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Encyclopedia)

&

The plan to invade the Emperor's fortress succeeds beyond Master Braga's greatest ambitions. However, the Jedi find more than they bargained for when they finally confront the Sith leader in his lair. The Emperor is more than a man - he is the living embodiment of the dark side. Armed with incalculable powers of corruption, the Emperor easily defeats the Knight, Master Braga, and their fellow Jedi, twisting them all to the dark side.

NOTE 1: Revan's assessment of growing strength of Tenebrae in 3950 BBY:

"Nathema was just the beginning," Scourge agreed. "He will destroy world after world, his power and madness growing in concert until he alone is left, Emperor over an empty and lifeless galaxy."

Meetra stared at the two in horror.

"You've been to Nathema," Scourge said. "You felt the Void. You know what the Emperor is capable of."

"She understands," Revan said, reading her expression more accurately than Scourge. "That's not it."

"He's quarantined Dromund Kaas," Meetra said, trying to lead them to the same conclusion. "What if he’s preparing to do the same thing here that he did on Nathema?”

Scourge hadn't considered that possibility, and it chilled him to his core.

"Is that possible?" he asked. "Nyriss told me the ritual on Nathema took days, if not weeks. And the Emperor had to trick hundreds of other powerful Sith into working with him so he could draw on their power."

"He's stronger now," Revan said. "But even if it's possible, I don't think he'll go that far. At least not yet. He is too patient, too careful. Dromund Kaas is the heart of his Empire and the seat of his power. He has too many valuable resources here to throw it all away. But once he is ready, there will be nothing left to stop him from launching his invasion of the Republic."

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Revan)

NOTE 2: Tenebrae's powers transcended that of any mortal at some point. He became more powerful than the ancient Rakatan entity Soa and legendary Sith Lords such as Exar Kun and Darth Nihilus.

DID YOU KNOW?

SWTOR sources acknowledge the existence of Celestials.

Although the Republic has existed for millennia, there is evidence to suggest that long before its founding, a highly advanced race ruled the galaxy. Referred to as the “Architects” or “Celestials” by scholars, these beings possessed remarkable technology capable of constructing or realigning solar systems. The Corellia system, for example, appears to have been artificially constructed. These claims would seem extraordinary, but many of the Architects’ machines survived the ages. The Vultar system was home to an immense “Cosmic Turbine” that could only have been Architect technology, before misuse destroyed both the turbine and the Vultar system itself. The fabled Centerpoint Station is thought to be an Architect installation, though many species have claimed it as the work of their own people. In addition to their engineering marvels, it is believed that the Architects seeded the Core Worlds with life–particularly humans–though some attribute this to the Rakata’s Infinite Empire. Despite the proof of their achievements, however, there is little evidence to suggest where the Architects came from or what eventually became of them.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Codex Entry titled "The Architects.")

6. Capability to expand footprint across the galaxy:

Tenebrae, at some point in history, began to spread his influence on galactic scale by creating Children who served as his eyes, ears, and minions on many planets and locales.

By drawing on his incredible dark powers, the Emperor imprinted his consciousness onto unwitting pawns who would serve as vessels for carrying out his will. Through the eyes and ears of these "children," he would uncover threats in both the Empire and Republic while they were still nothing but whispers. And should the need arise, the Emperor could seize control of his children and instruct them to crush any plot that dared defy his will.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Encyclopedia)

&

Despite the Jedi Council's best efforts, only a little is known of the so-called Children of the Emperor. Infants of all species taken before the Sith Emperor, the children are infused with the Emperor's strength, sharing some measure of his thoughts and power for the rest of their lives. They become the Emperor's eyes and ears, and–should the Emperor focus his presence upon them–his puppets. It is believed that the children have some way to hide their dark presence from Jedi senses, meaning they can exist undetected within the Republic.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Encyclopedia)

&

The Jedi remained blind to the Emperor's children due to the presence of the First Son, the being who was first imprinted with the Emperor's power. While the First Son lived, the Emperor's secret army remained hidden and undetected beneath the Republic's nose. By the time of the Great War, hundreds of the Emperor's Children were embedded within the Republic. Devoted Jedi, loyal soldiers, and influential politicians all unknowingly served as the Emperor's spies and, when the Emperor willed I, acted to tear down the Republic they held so dear.

7. Capability to create beings of pure Dark Sid energy at will:

Tenebrae, at some point in history, acquired the ability to create beings of pure Dark Sid energy. He demonstrated this capability in 3640 BBY.

8. Capability to unleash destructive powers of apocalyptic proportions:

Tenebrae, at some point in history, became capable of inflicting devastation of apocalyptic proportions with his powers, apparent from his actions on planet Ziost during 3640 BBY. Revan's assessment in this regard have been validated.

9. Acknowledged as a threat to the entire galaxy; impossible to stop using conventional methods and/or by a single individual:

2) EVOLUTION:

Tenebrae heavily focused on overcoming the shortcomings of mortality. And in doing so, overcame the challenges of aging and vulnerability against external threats to great extent.

In his relentless pursuit of immortality, the Emperor explored the most sinister, uncharted depths of the dark side.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Encyclopedia)

1. MORTALITY

Tenebrae was born a mortal, but had extraordinary affinity with the Dark Side.

Born to farmers on the planet Medriaas, Tenebrae entered the galaxy without shedding a tear. He regarded his parents with cold pitiless eyes. As years passed Tenebrae manifested Force powers and honed his mastery of the dark side.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Encyclopedia)

Long before assuming his current form, Valkorion was a Sith pureblood named Vitiate born on the lush and vibrant world of Medriaas. Vitiate rose to become Emperor of the Sith and ruled for over a thousand years--but only after extracting a terrible price.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Knights of the Eternal Throne: Codex Entry titled "Nathema.")

2. CORPOREAL IMMORTALITY

Tenebrae utilized Sith Sorcery to attain corporeal immortality.

“But the ritual was not confined to the doomed Sith Lords. On that day, the Emperor was truly born.”

3. ENTITY (VOICES)

After Revan's second assassination attempt, Tenebrae - in his effort to overcome the shortcomings of mortality - developed the ability to retain his presence without a corporeal form and began to shift his essence into other living beings (one at a time) in an effort to increase his safeguard, evolving further in the matters of immortality.

&

For centuries, the Emperor’s Voice has delivered the Sith leader’s commandments to his servants. In fact, to converse with the Emperor’s Voice is to have an audience with the Emperor himself, whose power and consciousness have been placed within the Voice’s body. Although the audible voice never changes, the physical individual who does the speaking has assumed many forms–various accounts describe the Emperor’s Voice as anyone from a young human female to an elderly full-blooded Sith male. Regardless of physical appearance, however, the Emperor’s Voice can always be identified by its emotionless, precise and controlled manner of speaking. Some have privately described conversations with this entity as extremely disturbing; there is often the sense that the Emperor’s Voice is listening to another conversation even when he or she is speaking.

4. ENTITY (INTANGIBLE PRESENCE)

Tenebrae could manifest as an intangible presence for indefinite period.

"Something went awry with the communications platform. I had intended to commend you for your work thus far, but I have just received word that your breakthrough against Vitiate is only temporary.

This is most distressing. Vitiate may be more powerful then any of us assumed. And as he does not appear to have any manner of physical form, he cannot be restrained or destroyed by conventional means.

3) SHIFT in IDENTITY:

No Caption Provided

At some point in history, Tenebrae deemed the philosophy of Sith as archaic and embraced a new identity (i.e. Valkorion) after possessing the original warrior of same name on Zakuul, pioneering a new Force-using order and Empire in secrecy much like his earlier endeavor.

Valkorion is an ancient Sith entity with the power to possess and control the bodies of others, using them as puppets to enforce his will on the galaxy. The Immortal Emperor is his latest mask and Zakuul his greatest, most ambitious endeavor: an idealistic playground where he can shed his past and experience a new life unburdened by archaic Sith teachings. A manipulative survivor, Valkorion pinpoints the weaknesses of both friends and enemies alike, twisting them to serve his purpose. He believes the entire galaxy is his to shape and will stop at nothing to reach his goals.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Knights of the Fallen Empire: Codex Entry titled "Valkorion.")

Tenebrae permanently shed his Sith identity in 3637 BBY.

In another time, it might have been cause for celebration. It might have emboldened the Empire, breathing new life into their efforts to crush the Republic. But with the Sith Emperor’s apparent reawakening comes the common knowledge that he is no longer interested in ruling over the galaxy. Instead, he seeks to consume it. The Empire’s highest ranking officers and dignitaries are now in a state of heightened alert, and the Dark Council has assembled a contingent of powerful Sith seers to get a fix on the Emperor’s presence.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Rise of the Emperor: Codex Entry titled "The Emperor's Return.")

---

Similarly, word has filtered through the Sith Empire that the Dark Council is actively hunting their former Emperor while also working with renowned Sith alchemists on a plan to destroy the one they call Vitiate for good.

Aryn Leener Respect Thread

INTRODUCTION:

"I am going to hurt you." - Aryn Leneer

Bio:-

  • Affiliation: Jedi Order
  • Rank: Jedi Knight
  • Jedi Masters (known): Ven Zallow
  • Status: Disowned by the Jedi High Council (or) resigned

Aryn Leneer is one of the most powerful Jedi of the Order, apparent from her actions and not just hype. She was selected by the Jedi High Council to represent its "peace committee" alongside Jedi Masters Satele Shan, Syo Bakarn, and Dar'Nala on Aldeeran to negotiate with the Imperials but able to contend with any eventuality should the talks fail or deception occurs.

Republic leaders have traveled to Alderaan to engage in promised peace talks with the Sith Empire. The most powerful Jedi have accompanied them to safeguard against an Imperial deception. The Empire’s real motive, however, was simply to lure the Republic’s strongest defenders away from Coruscant and set the stage for an audacious attack.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Deceived Cinematic Trailer)

Respect her.

----------------------------------

SPEED:

Leneer could use the Force to augment her movements to remarkable levels.

Moving with Force-augmented speed, Aryn easily avoided the Alderaanian guards posted on the grounds of the compound. A canine with one of the guard teams must have caught her smell. It growled as she passed, but before the guards could turn on their infrared scanners, Aryn was already a hundred meters away. She did not exit through any of the checkpoints. Instead, she picked her way among the gardens until she reached the compound’s walls, veined in green creepers blooming with yellow and white flowers.

Without slowing, she drew on the Force, leapt into the air, and arced over the five-meter wall. She hit the ground on the other side, free.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Deceived)

Leneer had extraordinary reflexes; she could augment her senses to such a level and react so fast that a millisecond expanded like a minute to her and eventually time itself would seem to freeze around her, giving her ample to time to perform an action (in a millisecond or less). In this phase, to human eyes, she seemed like a blur of motion, existing simultaneously in multiple places while performing actions. Though speed burst of this magnitude was a taxing feat for Leneer, she could still pull it off for a reasonable duration, enough to fulfill her objective that she intended to, while anticipating the actions of starships involved in hyperspace travelling procedures presenting lightspeed reaction scenario for her to cope with, to maintain the electromagnetic bond between Zeerid's ship and an Imperial Cruiser to avoid detection while enroute to Coruscant.

Aryn did not bother to respond. She dwelled in the Force, floated in and on the warm network of lines that connected all things, one to another. Her consciousness expanded to see and feel everything near her. She focused on her perception of the passage of time, first on how it felt as she moved through it, then on spreading it, stretching it, until she could linger in a millisecond as if it were a moment, then a minute. To Zeerid it would appear that she were a blur of motion, existing simultaneously in multiple places. To her, it felt as if the universe around her had stilled. She smiled, seeing the moments that hung before her, each millisecond a long moment in which she could think, in which she could act. The effort taxed her, and she knew she could not maintain it for long.

“Watch the scanner,” Zeerid said, his words a lifetime in the utterance.

She did not watch the scanner. Her body could respond faster than any machine. Instead she watched the viewscreen. The Imperial ships had finished their hydrogen skim and now maneuvered into a formation suitable for a hyperspace jump, the supply ships within the ring of the frigate escort.

She tensed.

“They’re forming up,” Zeerid said. The waves of his tension crashed against her but she dammed them off, did not allow them to disrupt her focus.

She watched, waited, waited …

As one, the Imperial ships began to stretch in her perception. For a nanosecond, all of them seemed to stretch to infinity, their rear engines a hundred thousand kilometers off Fatman’s bow, their forms reaching across and through an incomprehensible distance. She knew it was illusion, that is was a trick of her perception caused by the moment they entered hyperspace seeming to freeze before her eyes.

She engaged Fatman’s hyperdrive and the black night of space turned blue.

“Now, Aryn! Now!” Zeerid said, but he was far too late.

They were already gone.

She remained immersed in the Force as Fatman surged through hyperspace. The ordinary maddening churn slowed to a crawl of spirals and whorls, the script of the universe writ large in characters of blue, turquoise, midnight, and lavender. She fancied there might be meaning in the lines, an important revelation that hung before her, just beyond the reach of her consciousness.

She lost track of the slow passage of time. Zeerid spoke to her from time to time but his words bounced off her perception, ricocheted without her comprehension. In time, something he said penetrated her understanding.

“Coming out, Aryn. Be ready.”

She watched Zeerid, moving in slow motion, pull back on the lever that engaged the hyperdrive.

She readied herself, and the moment the blue of hyperspace started to fade into black, she pushed a series of buttons and switches that turned Fatman cold except for life support, thrusters, and the small amount of power they’d need to create an electromagnetic bond.

The blue disappeared in favor of the midnight of space, and she returned to normal perception.

“Engaging thrusters,” Zeerid said. “Well done, Aryn.”

Sweat soaked her robes, pasted them to her body. She felt as if she had not slept in days.

“Now it gets fun,” Zeerid said.

The trailing freighter in the convoy, five times the size of Fatman, flew right before them. They had jumped out within the ring of frigates and gone cold so fast the frigates would not have perceived their arrival. They were directly under one of the freighters, a kilometer beneath its underside, maybe less.

In the distance, the metal-and-duracrete sphere of Coruscant floated in space. The rest of the convoy spread out before them. The trailing freighter’s ion engines fired, and it started to head out.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Deceived)

Leneer demonstrated proficiency at deflecting overwhelming blaster-fire. She could swing her blade so fast that it would be a blur of motion, forming a cocoon of green light around her, deflecting enemy fire from all directions.

But before he could stand Aryn was over him, her blade a blur of motion that formed a cocoon of green light around them, deflecting blaster shots in all directions. She grabbed him under his armpit and helped him to his feet while still deflecting shots.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Deceived)

----------------------------------

CONTROL:

Leneer jumped from a balcony of a high-rise building she was staying in (on Aldeeran), 100 meters high, landing safely on the ground by using the Force to slow down the speed of her descent:

Using the Force to slow her descent, she hit the ground in a crouch and sped off.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Deceived)

Q: 100 meters high?

Yes:

She crossed the room and stepped through the sliding doors to her balcony. The brisk wind mussed her hair. The scent of wildflowers and loam saturated the air. Insects chirped. A night bird cooed. It would have been peaceful under other circumstances.

A hundred meters down, the Alderaanian landscape unrolled before her, a meadow of tall grasses, shrubs, and slim apo trees that whispered and swayed in the breeze.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Deceived)

Leneer had lot more in her; on the atmosphere of Coruscant, Leneer sky-dived from 50 km height (above planetary surface) to the roof of one of the buildings without any parachute. She approached terminal velocity speed during the dive but began to slow down her descent with her power in the Force, even aiding one of her companions in the process in similar way. Simultaneously, she was using the Force to shield herself and her companion for safety measures during this great descent. Upon approaching the ground (roof of a building), she momentarily almost halted herself and her companion mid-air, before ensuring a safe landing. Leneer did not suffered any notable injury from the stresses of this entire ordeal. Leneer's sharp senses would also come in to play in this feat since she guided herself and her companion towards a roof of the building during the great descent.

“We’re fifty kilometers up, Aryn!” Zeerid said, his voice rising for the first time. She grabbed him by the arm and gave him a shake to shut him up. “Do not let go of me no matter what. Do you understand? No matter what.”

“The velocity alone—”

His eyes were wide behind the lenses of his mask. He nodded.

She did not hesitate. She sank into the Force, cocooned them both in a protective sheath, and leapt out of the ship and into the open air.

The wind and velocity tore them backward. They slammed into the ship’s fuselage and whipped through the flames pouring out its sides. At almost the same moment, plasma fire from the cruiser above them hit Fatman dorsally and the ship exploded into an expanding ball of flame. The blast wave sent them careering crazily through the sky and set them to spinning like a pinwheel. For an alarming moment, Aryn’s vision blurred and she feared she would lose consciousness, but she held on to awareness with both hands and fought through it.

Zeerid was shouting but Aryn could not make it out.

Her stomach crawled up her throat as they plummeted, spinning wildly, toward the planet below. Her perspective alternated crazily from flaming pieces of Fatman, to Coruscant below, to the sky above and the distant silhouette of the Imperial cruiser, to Fatman again. The motion was pulling the blood from her head. Sparks blinked before her eyes. She had to stop the spinning or she would pass out.

She made her grip a vise around Zeerid and used the Force first to slow, then to stop the spin. They ended up hand in hand, passing through clouds, falling at terminal velocity toward Coruscant’s surface.

FTER THE CHAOS OF THE COCKPIT, the quiet of the fall seemed oddly incongruous. Aryn heard only the rush of the wind, the steady thump of her heartbeat in her ears. Zeerid’s fear was a tangible thing to her, and it fell with them.

She felt free, exhilarated, and the feeling surprised her. To the east Coruscant’s surface curved away from them and the morning sun crept over the horizon line, bathing the planet in gold. The sight took her breath away. She shook Zeerid’s arm and nodded at the rising sun. He did not respond. His eyes stared straight down, iron to the respond. His eyes stared straight down, iron to the magnet of the planet’s surface. Aryn allowed herself to enjoy the view for a few seconds before trying to save their lives.

The drag increased as the thin air of the upper atmosphere gave way to the thicker, breathable air of the lower. Below them, Coruscant transformed from a brown-and-black ball crisscrossed with seemingly random whorls of light, to a distinguishable geometry of well-lit cities, roads, skyways, quadrants, and blocks. She could make out tiny black forms moving against the urbanscape, the ants of aircars, speeders, and swoops, but far fewer than ordinary. Plumes of smoke traced twisting black lines into the air. Large areas of Galactic City lay in ruins, dark lesions on the skin of the planet.

The Empire must have killed tens of thousands. More, perhaps.

The wind changed pitch, whistled past her ears. She fancied she heard whispers in it, the soul of the planet sharing its pain. Her clothing flapped audibly behind her.

Below, she could distinguish more and more details of Coruscant’s upper levels: the lines of skyscrapers, the geometry of plazas and parks, the orderly, straight lines of roads.

She let herself feel the descent and used the feeling to fall into the Force. Nestled in its power, she marshaled her strength. She pulled Zeerid toward her. Unresisting, he felt as limp as a rag doll in her hands. She drew him to her, under her, wrapped her arms and legs around him.

“Ready yourself,” she shouted in his ear. “Nod if you understand.”

His head bobbed once, tense and rapid.

The buildings below grew larger, more defined. They descended toward a large plaza, a flat trapezoid of duracrete with stratoscrapers anchoring each of its corners.

“I will slow us,” she shouted. “But we will still hit with some force. I will release you before we hit. Try to roll with the impact.”

He nodded again.

She lowered her head, angled her body, and tried to use the wind resistance to create some slight motion forward, rather than entirely downward. The ground rushed up to meet them.

They passed through the ring of sky rises, plummeting past the roofs, windows, balconies. Given the hour, she doubted anyone saw their descent.

She reached out with the Force, channeled power into a wide column beneath them. She conceptualized the power as somewhat similar to what she would use when augmenting a leap, except that instead of a sudden rush of power to drive her upward, she instead used the power in a gentler, passive fashion. She imagined it as a balloon, soft and yielding at first, but providing ever-increasing resistance as they fell farther into it.

They slowed and Zeerid shifted in her grasp. Perhaps he did not believe it.

Pressure built behind Aryn’s eyes, an ache formed in her head.

The balloon of her power slowed them further. She could see benches in the plaza, a fountain. She could distinguish individual windows in the skyrises around them. They were five hundred meters up and still falling fast.

The pressure in her brain intensified. Her vision blurred. The ache in her head became a knife stab of pain. She screamed but held on, held on.

Four hundred meters. Three hundred.

They slowed still more and Aryn feared she could not bear any more.

Two hundred.

A second stretched into an eternity of pain and pressure. She thought she must burst.

“Hang on, Aryn!” Zeerid said, his voice muffled by the mask. He was rigid in her arms.

Fifty meters.

They were still going too fast.

Twenty, ten.

She dug deep, pulled out what power she could, and expended it in a final shout, an expulsion of power that entirely arrested their descent for a moment. They hung in the air for a fraction of a second, suspended only by the invisible power of the Force and Aryn’s ability to use it.

And then they were falling free.

She released Zeerid and they both hit the duracrete feetfirst, the shock of impact sending jolts of pain up Aryn’s ankles and calves. She rode the momentum of the fall into a roll that knocked the wind from her and tore a divot of skin from her scalp.

But she was alive.

She lifted herself to all fours, every muscle screaming, legs quivering, blood dripping from her scalp. She tore off her mask.

“Zeerid!”

“I’m all right,” he answered, his voice as raw as old leather. “I can’t believe it, but I am all right.”

She sagged back to the duracrete, rolled over onto her back, and stared up at dawn’s light spreading across the sky. The long thin clouds, painted with the light of daybreak, looked like veins of gold. She simply lay there, exhausted.

Zeerid crawled over to her, cursing with pain throughout. He peeled off his mask and lay on his back next to her. They stared up at the sky together.

SENSES:

Leneer was a master of a talent known as Force empathy. Her extraordinary senses were a product of her proficiency in this talent.

Leneer was able to sense disturbances in the Force from lightyear distances. She felt a disturbance in the Force when the Sacking of Coruscant began while being stationed on Aldeeran.

ARYN FELT DIZZY. A rush of emotion flooded her. She could not name it, categorize it. It was just a wash of inchoate, raw feeling. She was swimming in it, sinking.

“Something is happening, Syo,” she said, her voice tight. “I don’t know what it is, but it is not good.”

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Deceived)

Leneer could augment her senses to planetary-scale at will, being able to sense emotions of billions, thanks to her proficiency in empathic abilities:

Due to her empathic sense, Aryn felt the dread in the air as a tangible thing, a pall that overhung the entire planet. It wore on her, weighed her down. The towers of duracrete and transparisteel seemed ready to fall in on her. She felt hunched, tensed in anticipation of a blow. The dread was omnipresent, an entire planet of billions of people projecting raw emotion into the air.

She could not wall them out. She did not want to wall them out. The Jedi had failed them. She deserved to feel what they felt.

“Aryn, did you hear me? Aryn?”

She came back to herself to see Zeerid standing beside an open-topped Armin speeder.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Deceived)

Leneer could perceive her surroundings with great clarity irrespective of complexity as apparent from two examples.

Example 1:

ARYN DID NOT NEED to consult her scanner display to know that the ships of the convoy were peeling away to give the cruiser and frigates a clear field of fire.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Deceived)

Example 2:

The Works was difficult to comprehend all at once. The central chamber itself was several kilometers in diameter and hundreds of meters tall. Tiered flooring and a network of stairs and cage lifts made the whole of it look like a mad industrial artist’s take on an insect hive. Aryn always felt miniaturized when she saw it. It seemed made for an alien race ten times the size of humans: gears as large as starfighters, pipes wide enough to fly a speeder into, individual mechanisms that reached floor-to-ceiling, chains and belts hundreds of meters long. Hundreds of droids scurried, rolled, and walked among the workings, checking gauges, readouts, maintaining equipment, greasing mechanisms. The sound was overwhelming, a deafening industrial cacophony.

Compared with the advanced technology apparent elsewhere on Coruscant—with its sleek lines, compact designs, and sheer elegance—the Works looked primitive, garish in its enormity, like a throwback to ancient times when steam and combustion powered industry. But Aryn knew it was an illusion.

The Works stretched under Coruscant’s crust from pole to pole, generally accessible only through the hubs. Its pipes, lines, hoses, and conduits formed the circulatory system of the planet, through which water, heat, electricity, and any number of other necessities flowed. It represented the peak of Republic technology.

“Follow me!” she shouted above the noise, and Zeerid nodded.

Following signs and calling upon her memory, Aryn led Zeerid through the maze of raised flooring, lifts, and autostairs.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Deceived)

In case of example 2, Leneer found her way out from the maze of the works, finding T7 in the process:

Aryn decided that it could not be coincidence. It was the Force showing her that the course she pursued was the right one, at least for her.

----------------------------------

TELEPATHY:

Leneer developed a powerful bond with her Jedi Master, thanks to her empathic abilities. She was able to feel the same magnitude of pain that her Master felt when he was struck down in a duel on Coruscant from lightyear distance:

THE SHOCK HIT ARYN with little warning, the sensation as sudden and powerful as a blaster shot. Her body spasmed. The tranquillity bracelet in her hand, the bracelet given her by Master Zallow, snapped in her clenched fist and the tear-shaped bits of coral rained to the floor.

She doubled over, moaned. Her stomach sank. Her vision blurred. The room spun. Her legs dissolved under her and she felt herself slipping, falling, sinking. A fist formed in her throat, throttling the cry that wanted release and allowing it loose only as an aborted, grief-ridden wail.

Through their connection in the Force, she felt the sharp stab of agony that Master Zallow experienced, felt her own breath hitch in sympathy as he took his final breath and died. The line of his life, usually so bright in her mind’s eye when she felt the Force, usually so close to her own line, vanished from her perception.

Beside her, Syo’s sharp, surprised intake of breath told her that he had felt something, too.

Despite her pain, the rising despair, the reality settled on her immediately. She had seen it in the eyes of the Sith male.

Despite her pain, the rising despair, the reality settled on her immediately. She had seen it in the eyes of the Sith male.

“What was that?” Syo asked, his voice seemingly far away, but his question fat with ugly possibilities.

She lifted her head, her long hair dangling before her face, and stared across the room. Both Sith were standing, their bodies tensed, knowledge in their eyes.

“We are betrayed,” she answered, her voice a hiss.

She left it unsaid that her Master, the man who had been a father to her, was dead.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Deceived)

Leneer figured out through her telepathic abilities that a Sith killed her master:

The Temple will have vids of the attack. I need to see how he died.”

“It could’ve been bombs, Aryn. Anything.”

She shook her head before he finished his sentence. “No. It was a Sith.”

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Deceived)

----------------------------------

RAW POWER:

Leener could unleash powerful telekinetic waves, potent enough to shatter structures and overwhelm other Force-users:

The male Sith reached for his lightsaber. Before he could activate it, Aryn unleashed a blast of power that lifted both Sith from their feet and blew them into the wall. Two Alderaanian statues, caught in the effect of her power, slammed into the wall to either side of the Sith and shattered into chunks.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Deceived)

Leneer could disarm her opponents with her telekinetic abilities:

1. Leneer disarmed Eleena Daru, a firearms specialist:

Before the Twi’lek could fire, Aryn gestured with her left hand, and both of the blasters flew from the Twi’lek’s hands and landed at Aryn’s feet. The Twi’lek’s hands and landed at Aryn’s feet. The Twi’lek mouthed something lost in the muffle of her mask. Aryn stepped over and past the blasters.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Deceived)

2. Leneer disarmed a Force-user, a Sith adept:

Behind her, Aryn heard the hum of Syo activating his blade. She did not slow her advance. Using the Force, she jerked the male’s hilt from his hand and brought it flying into her own grasp. Then she tossed it aside, and his sneer melted in the heat of his surprise.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Deceived)

3. Leneer managed to telekinetically wrestle-away the control of a Saber Throw attack from a powerful Sith Lord, Darth Malgus, duplicating his capability in this respect:

Anger went forth from Malgus. He reactivated Master Zallow’s blade and hurled it after them. Zeerid tried to wheel out of the way but the blade curled and kept coming at them. T7 beeped in alarm.

Aryn watched the weapon spin, felt it, and before it reached the speeder, she reached out with the Force and snatched it from Malgus’s mental grasp. The weapon turned upward over the speeder and descended hilt-first into her hand as Zeerid rose into the night sky and sped away. She deactivated it.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Deceived)

Leneer lifted a large stone and flung it towards Malgus like a missile:

Taking telekinetic hold of a large stone near Malgus, she flung it at him. He never moved, simply held his ground and split the incoming rock in two with his lightsaber. Red sparks and bits of stone rained down.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Deceived)

Leneer lifted several large and heavy objects (6 cars of a cargo tram) and send them packing like missiles towards enemy positions:

Aryn gestured at a cargo tram near the three men shooting at them from behind. The six cars of the tram rushed toward the men, propelled by Aryn’s power. They scrambled aside, and Aryn and Zeerid dashed for Fatman.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Deceived)

Leneer was proficient in the aspects of Force deflection, using this ability to deflect flying debris and even blasts of power from other Force-users with a gesture, if aimed towards her, in an attempt to defend herself.

1. Deflecting a blast of power from another Force-user (a Sith adept):

She advanced on him, heedless of the woman, imagining the feel of her hands on his throat. He answered her approach with a blast of power, but she made a V with her hands, formed a wedge with her will, and deflected the blast to either side of her. More statues toppled, shattered. The female Sith, caught in the deflected blast, was thrown backward ten paces.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Deceived)

2. Deflecting flying debris:

A ROAR, heavy with hate and rage, pulled Aryn’s eyes skyward. Malgus descended like a meteor. His cape flew out behind and over him, a comma of cape flew out behind and over him, a comma of darkness, and he held his lightsaber in a two-handed grip. Power went before him in a wave of visible distortion. The shuttle out of which he had leapt flew off into the night sky.

Aryn fell fully into the Force, raised her defenses, took a fighting stance, and parried Malgus’s two-handed overhand slash. Still, he landed in a cocoon of power, hitting the ground in an explosion of might that shattered the stones around them and turned them into a hail of shrapnel.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Deceived)

Leneer, once, used her power to slow down the descent of a fast moving dragonfly-class Imperial drop ship from within the aircraft, cushioning the landing process:

He bit back his reply and once more they wrapped T7 in their shared grasp and leapt into the void. Again Aryn’s power slowed their descent and cushioned their landing.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Deceived)

During a duel with Malgus, Leener prevented Force-augmented kick of Malgus from overwhelming her, instead she caught his leg and threw him 20 m away from her*:

Malgus parried crosswise with his blade and stepped into a Force-augmented side kick aimed at her ribs. She caught the kick with her free hand, closed her arm over his leg, spun, and flung Malgus twenty meters from her.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Deceived)

*Malgus has never experienced this kind of moment from any opponent. In-fact, Leneer's power actually surprised him:

MALGUS SAT AMONG THE RUINS, the fallen statues of his ancient foes, and pondered. The night breeze blew cool over his face. He replayed his confrontation with Aryn Leneer. Her power had surprised him. So, too, the anger that underlay it.

The anger he understood, even respected, but he didn’t understand how she’d come by it. She had known that he’d killed Master Zallow when they had fought on the ruins. But she had not known when they had first seen each other on the ship-to-ship holo over Coruscant, when Valor had shot down the freighter. He was certain of that. He would have felt the knife point of her rage if she had known then.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Deceived)

----------------------------------

Dueling prowess:-

REMINDER: Leener demonstrated proficiency at deflecting overwhelming blaster-fire.

The two men between Aryn and Zeerid and the ship had blasters in hand, firing as they approached. Aryn’s lightsaber hummed to life, spun a rapid arc before them, and deflected the shots into the ceiling and floor.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Deceived)

The Twi’lek got her blasters clear and fired two, four, six shots at Zeerid. Aryn slid before him and her blade deflected all of the shots, two of them back at the other soldier, which opened small holes in the soldier’s mask. He fell forward onto the ramp, dead.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Deceived)

In combat situations, Leneer used the Force to augment her physical capabilities such as strength and speed to extreme levels. She was also proficient in the aspects of "art of movement," and acrobatic duelist. As hinted earlier, Leneer had extraordinary reflexes and senses, which in turn sharpened her precognitive abilities. She was also proficient in the use of Saberstaff in the context of Jedi dueling arts.

Aryn used the Force to augment her strength, her speed. She felt it flowing within and around her, turning her body into a weapon—

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Deceived)

She leapt over it, pulling her legs in tight, and loosed a two-handed overhead strike as she came back down. Malgus parried crosswise with his blade and stepped into a Force-augmented side kick aimed at her ribs. She caught the kick with her free hand, closed her arm over his leg, spun, and flung Malgus twenty meters from her. He flipped in midair and landed atop the cracked face of the Odan-Urr statue that had once lined the processional approach into the Temple.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Deceived)

The moment she landed, Malgus was upon her, his blade slashing, stabbing, spinning. He tried to use his superior strength to force her off the stone, off balance, but she answered his strength with speed, sidestepping his blows, leaping over them, parrying, unleashing her own flurries. The hum of their weapons through the air, the sizzle of crossed blades, merged into a single song of speed and power.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Deceived)

She and Darth Malgus bounded across the ruins of the Temple, their blades flashing, locking, the speed of their duel so fast Zeerid could barely follow their movement. Despite himself, he found the combat beautiful.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Deceived)

Leneer was also proficient at dissipating dark powers unleashed on her such as Sith lightning with her blade(s)*:

Ready for it, she activated Master Zallow’s lightsaber, used it to form an X with her own, and intercepted the lightning on the two blades.

His power met her will. The lightning twisted around the glowing blades. The force of it stopped her downward descent and held her aloft in the air for a moment, suspended on a column built of the dark side.

And then she overcame it. The lightning dissipated to nothingness and she, unharmed by it, fell straight down, landing on her feet atop a shifting pile of rubble and deactivating Master Zallow’s blade.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Deceived)

If Leneer would get overwhelmed by a potent blast of power unleashed on her, pushed in to an object or something, she could use the Force to protect herself from possibility of injuries from resultant impact:

“I am more than your match, Sith,” she said over the sparks of their joined lightsabers.

“Your Master was not,” Malgus said, grunting, and shoved her with a telekinetic blast of such force that she flew backward and slammed into the rock and rubble. She used the Force to cushion the impact, but she still landed on her back and the impact blew the breath from her lungs.

Malgus leapt high into the air, shouting with rage, his blade held high for a killing stroke. She rolled aside as he came down and his blade sank to its hilt in the rubble of the Temple. She leapt to her feet and unleashed a backhand crosscut at his throat.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Deceived)

----------------------------------

CONCLUSION:

Leneer proved with her actions that she is among the most formidable Jedi to have ever existed. She was an overwhelming presence in the battlefield:

She had fought Imperial forces on Alderaan, had beaten them into retreat. She wanted nothing more than to fight them again now.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Deceived)

*Some important details regarding Leener's dueling preferences are not known at the moment. It is also likely that the current information does not reveals the full extent of the capabilities of this character. Darth Malgus eventually subdued Leener with his overwhelming powers, but this does not takes away from the fact that Leener gave such a powerful Sith Lord (who have history of killing and defeating many Jedi like fodder) tough time during combat, thanks to her own extraordinary capabilities.

Valkorion Respect Thread (Updated and Expanded; 2019) - WIP

"Valkorion. Tenebrae. Vitiate. Emperor of the Sith. My low-born son has worn many masks." - Lord Dramath

----------------------------------

INTRODUCTION:

Tenebrae was exceptionally strong in the Dark Side of the Force, and dreaded for his proficiency in possessing, controlling, or consuming other beings. Tenebrae was obsessed with immortality and uncovered ways to cheat death, and in doing so, evolved into a virtually immortal entity with the ability to manifest his powers independent of corporeal existence. This characteristic enabled Tenebrae to don multiple identities in order to influence galactic affairs in profound ways.

Tenebrae was born in ancient times, in 5113 BBY, and was gifted in the use of the Dark Side.

The child who will come to be known as the Sith Emperor is born. Black-eyed, heartless, and supremely strong in the dark side of the Force, the boy seizes control of his homeworld by the age of 13 and earns the title Lord Vitiate.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Encyclopedia)

---

THE SECRETIVE and supremely powerful Sith Emperor rose from inauspicious beginnings over a thousand years ago.

---

Long before assuming his current form, Valkorion was a Sith pureblood named Vitiate born on the lush and vibrant world of Medriaas. Vitiate rose to become Emperor of the Sith and ruled for over a thousand years--but only after extracting a terrible price.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Knights of the Eternal Throne: Codex Entry titled "Nathema.")

In the aftermath of Great Hyperspace War (5000 - 4999 BBY), Tenebrae rose to prominence and reconstituted the ancient Sith Empire in absolute secrecy in a different location within the galaxy.

Lord Vitiate declares himself Emperor of the Sith. Under his sovereign rule, the Empire retreats into deep space to rebuild its strength and prepare for vengeance.

There has been only one Sith Emperor since the Great Hyperspace War over 1,300 years ago. He is supreme.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Codex Entry titled "Sith Titles.")

Tenebrae maintained the identity, role and responsibilities of being the Sith Emperor (for the reconstituted ancient Sith Empire) for centuries but he had greater ambitions and perceived Sith teachings to be archaic. Therefore, he embraced the broader philosophy of limitless power vis-a-vis using the Force and established a new empire in the uncharted depths of the galaxy (known as the Eternal Empire), adopting a new identity to rule it (the Immortal Emperor).

Valkorion has lived for millennia, using his dark mastery of the Force to assume many forms. His latest incarnation is Valkorion, the Immortal Emperor of the Eternal Empire. After ruling for centuries, he was struck down in an act of treachery engineered by his son, Arcann. But the Immortal Emperor could not be vanquished so easily. He evaded death by infiltrating the mind of the Outlander, his most powerful opponent. He now appears to the Outlander as an apparition, offering guidance and harsh lessons while carrying out a master plan that remains shrouded in secrecy.

In the nutshell:

Over the millennia, Valkorion wore many faces and names: Lord Vitiate; Emperor of the Sith; Eternal Emperor of Zakuul. For centuries upon centuries, he shaped and manipulated galactic events, bending the arc of history to his will during his obsessive quest for immortality. Tenebrae was able to INCREASE his STRENGTH over time (permanent gains), to ensure his SUPREMACY over other Force-users on a consistent basis. Tenebrae was stronger than any Jedi, and humbled many in numerous fights.

The Sith Emperor has mastered the dark side's power to become the most dominating Force-user the galaxy has ever seen. His corrupting influence is so complete that none can stand in his presence without succumbing to fear, anger and hatred. The Emperor can wither and ruin even the strongest Jedi’s connection to the light side. Jedi Master Tol Braga’s strike team was not the first group to succumb to the Sith leader’s oppressive influence. Hundreds of years ago, the Jedi Revan and Malak discovered Dromund Kaas and confronted the Emperor. They fell to the dark side and returned to Republic space as Sith Lords. Since then, dozens more Jedi have followed the same path into evil.

Tenebrae was stronger than any Sith including Exar Kun [2], and overshadowed every Sith who served him including Darth Malgus [3], members of the Dark Council [4], and the Dread Masters [5].

[2] Exar Kun is counted among the most powerful Sith ever (The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia; page 235), and Exar Kun's spirit provided substantial challenge to powerful Luke Skywalker (NJO era) on Yavin IV, to the extent of sundering Luke's spirit from his body (Star Wars: The Jedi Academy Trilogy, Volume 2: Dark Apprentice). At a later stage, Luke recalled and counted Exar Kun among "two of the greatest focal points of the dark side he'd ever had to face."

Soon after the enemies of Tenebrae (Sith Emperor) disrupted his galaxy-devouring Sith ritual, and struck down his Voice on Dromund Kaas (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Jedi Knight Storyline), Darth Malgus emerged as a strong contender for the vacant position of the Sith Emperor (Star Wars: The Old Republic Encyclopedia; page 169), but his reign was cut short by the Dark Council of the time (Star Wars: The Old Republic: The False Emperor Flashpoint). However, even an armada obliterating event was not sufficient to stop Darth Malgus (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Jedi Under Siege Expansion).

[4] Members of the Dark Council are counted among the greatest of Sith at any point in time, and it is a substantial achievement to join its ranks under the pressures of cut-throat competition among Sith of all manner.

To serve on the Dark Council is to achieve the greatest position of honor, power, and influence in the Empire. Many Sith spend their lives plotting their ascension to the council, but with millions vying for only 12 seats, the competition is cutthroat. Tenebrae was also stronger than Force-users who were willing to look beyond the merits of Jedi teachings and/or Sith teachings including Revan [6], the Outlander, Vaylin, Arcann, and even the likes of Soa [7].

EMBODIMENT of the DARK SIDE OF THE FORCE:

Tenebrae virtually embodied the Dark Side of the Force.

The Emperor is more than a man - he is the living embodiment of the dark side.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Encyclopedia)

-----

He was a living embodiment of the dark side of the Force who delighted in destroying the minds and spirits of those Jedi who came too close to him.

"The Emperor is the dark side incarnate. You wouldn't stand a chance.....you are nothing to him."

From (Emperor's Wrath II, Star Wars: The Old Republic: Shadow of Revan)

Tenebrae explored the Dark Side in greater depth than anybody else.

In his relentless pursuit of immortality, the Emperor explored the most sinister, uncharted depths of the dark side.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Encyclopedia)

THE NATHEMA CONSPIRACY

Tenebrae orchestrated the most ambitious and dangerous ritual ever (to be attempted) on planet Medriaas to achieve 'corporeal immortality' at the expense of other participants (8000 Sith Lords in total), and succeeded in this endeavor with the aid of ancient superweapon Zildrog.

The Sith Emperor, history's most powerful dark side master, performed a ritual of incredible scope to consume the life energy of every being on his homeworld.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Encyclopedia)

-----

Eight thousand Sith Lords gathered on Medriaas and agreed to partake in a ritual that would bind the Sith together as an ultimate dark side weapon.

The ritual lasted ten days. Lord Vitiate orchestrated the sorcery and the planet Mediraas was consumed by the largest dark side nexus the galaxy would ever see. When the ritual ended, Lord Vitiate emerged as the only survivor. The pain, energy, and suffering of every living entity on the planet fueled his power and would prolong his life for centuries. The lifeless planet of Mediraas became a void in the Force and was erased from history. From that moment forward, the world would forever be known as Nathema, birthplace of the one and only Sith Emperor.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Encyclopedia)

-----

And the Sith Lords were driven by fear. Many thought the Jedi would soon wipe them all out. They were desperate for anything they could use as a weapon against the servants of the light side. Lord Vitiate played upon these fears, convincing those who answered his call to set aside their suspicions of him and of one another to join in a single glorious cause.

Once they arrived on Nathema, they quickly fell under Lord Vitiate's control. He dominated their minds, crushed their resistance. He turned them into slaves to his will, forcing them to participate in the most complex ritual of Sith sorcery ever attempted. Calling on the dark side, Lord Vitiate devoured them. He fed on their power, absorbing it into himself, utterly obliterating all traces of his victims.

-----

Nathema: Once known as Medriaas, Nathema was an agriworld of the Sith Empire at a time when Sith also controlled the Chorlian sector. An ancient Dark Lord of the Sith named Darth Vitiate destroyed all life on Nathema with a ritual designed to grant him immortality. A transcription of this ritual was recorded by Darth Revan and served as the inspiration for Lord Kaan's thought bomb on Ruusan.

From (Star Wars: Force and Destiny - Core Rulebook)

NOTE: The aforementioned revelation reflects upon Darth Bane's thoughts centuries later:

To Bane it seemed the teachings contained within the single Holocron surpassed those of the Academy’s entire archives. Revan had discovered many of the rituals of the ancient Sith, and as the Holocron’s avatar explained their nature and purpose, Bane could barely wrap his mind around their awesome potential. Some of the rituals were so terrible-so dangerous to attempt, even for a true Sith Master-that he doubted he would ever dare to use them. Yet he dutifully copied them down on sheaves of flimsi, preserving them so he could study them in greater depth later.

From (Star Wars: Darth Bane: Path of Destruction)

-----

The ancient mechanical entity known as Zildrog has always operated from behind the scenes. Unlike the other "machine gods" of Iokath, Zildrog permanently functions in two forms. The first is a central computer that specializes in the transfer of life energies. Given this device's presence on Nathema, it is likely that Zildrog was a key element of the original ritual Tenebrae used to empower himself at the cost of all life on the planet. Beyond that first atrocity, however, Zildrog's central mind appears to have played no role in Tenebrae's dual life as Vitiate and Valkorion, and slumbered in stasis mode until Vinn Atrius discovered it many years later.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: The Nathema Conspiracy: Codex Entry titled "Zildrog.")

ABOVE ALL ELSE:

Tenebrae prevented ECOLOGICAL RECOVERY of the post-apocalypse Medriaas for over 1300 years until his demise:

The ecological revitalization of Nathema has been nothing short of miraculous. Vibrant plant life has not only taken root but flourished, dramatically altering the planet's once-desolate landscape.

Force-users no longer experience the unsettling "wrongness" that they once felt whenever setting foot on the planet. The air has become fresher, and the weather more dynamic.

That this has all occurred since the death of Valkorion cannot be a coincidence, though experts cannot agree on any precise environmental mechanism that could have brought about such an abrupt change.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: The Nathema Conspiracy: Codex Entry titled "Zildrog.")

Implications of this revelation are immense. Tenebrae prevented ECOLOGICAL RECOVERY of the post-apocalypse Medriaas for over 1300 years while partaking in other (demanding) set-of-activities in other worlds. In other words, Tenebrae prevented HEALING of A VOID IN THE FORCE around Medriaas for over 1300 years besides the obvious. This is a phenomenal display of multi-tasking on the part of Tenebrae, and sheds new light on how to gauge his powers.

DROMUND KAAS

Tenebrae corrupted the atmosphere of Dromund Kaas to such an extent that the planet experienced stormy conditions, and was deprived from sunlight, for indefinite period. The planet's environment became hostile with deadly flora and fauna in the mix, and transformed into a nexus of Dark Side energy.

It was rumored that the perpetual storms of Dromund Kaas were the result of the Emperor performing one of these rituals.

Tenebrae RUINED planet ZIOST with his POWERS

Tenebrae was dreaded for his proficiency in possessing, controlling, or consuming other beings; his exploits on planet Ziost affirm this assertion. Examples provided below.

POSSESS and/or CONTROL:

Tenebrae (Vitiate) used his powers to possess all manner of living beings on Ziost, and utilized them for violent ends:

Unleashed from his sanctuary on Yavin 4, the former Sith Emperor has now struck the Imperial world of Ziost. Using his immense power in the dark side of the Force, he has dominated the minds of the planet’s Imperial troops--as well as an elite cadre of militaristic Jedi--and has set them against the populace, engaging in a bloody slaughter.

As the Sith Emperor gradually dominates the free will of everyone on Ziost, both Lana Beniko, Minister of the newly formed Sith Intelligence, and Theron Shan, a spy for the Galactic Republic, are trying to stop the chaos.

Tenebrae (Vitiate) attempted to possess and control all inhabitants of Ziost.

CONSUME and/or DISINTEGRATE:

Tenebrae eventually consumed all inhabitants of Ziost and devastated its environment in the process; his enemies attempted to stop him but in vain. Associated footage below:

-----

IMPORTANT: CATACLYSM OF ZIOST IS NOT A SITH RITUAL

Wookieepedia contributors are of the view that the CATACYLSM OF ZIOST was the outcome of a SITH RITUAL but this is ERRONEOUS ASSUMPTION. Following view of a member of the official SWTOR community (FlameYOL):

"On Ziost his spirit controls beings and then uses to kill other beings then posses more, it's a cycle until I think it reaches a point where he's able to consume the planet."

- is explicitly endorsed by the SWTOR content contributor Charles Boyd. Evidence in this link.

Tenebrae (Vitiate) was using his powers to possess inhabitants of Ziost (see above), and utilized them for violent ends in order to fuel his strength from resultant deaths:

Obsessed with achieving immortality, the Sith Emperor has targeted his own former subjects on the planet Ziost, with every death seemingly extending his dark power.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Rise of the Emperor)

- and the aforementioned CYCLE continued until Tenebrae (Vitiate) felt satiated, and then proceeded to devastate Ziost:

Tenebrae's exploits on Ziost are clearly distinguished from intricate Sith rituals and/or by the way of deadly arcane machines such as Zildrog. And Tenebrae's world-devouring expression of power is a clear display of the corrosive power of the Dark Side of the Force taken to its extreme, with no peer in scale throughout the Star Wars lore.

[1] "Against me, you would stand no chance," Nyriss replied. "But Xedrix is old and infirm. And he is human—they are a lesser species. Over the decades, the dark side has exacted too great a toll on his body. He is a hollow shell of what he once was. He holds on to his current position only because of his cunning. His followers obey him without question, too frightened of his reputation to see how age has ravaged his flesh and left him weak." - From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Revan)

[2] Age was beginning to take its toll on Bane, but it was nothing compared with the toll already wrought upon his body by decades of drawing upon the dark side of the Force. He couldn't help but smile at the grim irony: through the dark side he had access to near-infinite power, but it was power that came with· a terrible cost. Flesh and bone lacked the strength to withstand the unfathomable energy unleashed by the Force. The unquenchable fire of the dark side was consuming him, devouring him bit by bit. After decades of focusing and channeling its power, his body was beginning to break down. - From (Star Wars: Darth Bane: Dynasty of Evil)

Although 'corporeal immortality' was an incredible accomplishment in itself, Tenebrae eventually took his immortality to the next level with the ability to cheat death (body hopping) whenever the situation called for it.

GENERAL REPUTATION

Tenebrae (Sith Emperor) established a fearsome reputation among his followers and enemies alike, and was peerless in this regard; more-so than the Exar Kun, Darth Revan, Darth Malak, Darth Nihilus, and the Dread Masters.

No Sith has generated as much curiosity, frustration, and fear among the Jedi as the Empire's dread ruler.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Encyclopedia)

-----

Lord Scourge believed that Darth Xedrix wasn't bold enough to challenge Tenebrae (Sith Emperor) at any point in time.

Darth Xedrix was the longest-serving member of the Dark Council, having joined a full decade before Nyriss. He had risen to the penultimate position in the Empire, and while Scourge could understand his desire to eliminate Nyriss or other potential rivals, it was hard to imagine that he would be bold enough to challenge the immortal, all-powerful Emperor.

"Xedrix’s betrayal makes no sense," he said, feeling confident enough in his analysis of the situation to voice his opinion.

Revan realized that Tenebrae (Sith Emperor) was a far greater threat than the Mandalorians and even the Star Forge.

He and Malak had found something. He couldn’t remember what it was, or where it was, but he feared it on a deep, primal level. Somehow he knew that whatever the terrible secret might be, it was a threat far greater than the Mandalorians or the Star Forge. And Revan was convinced it was still out there.

An account of how Lord Scourge felt when he met Tenebrae (Sith Emperor) for the first time:

The figure before him appeared unremarkable. The Emperor was clad in unadorned black robes, the raised hood effectively hiding his face. Yet Scourge could feel the power of the dark side emanating from him with such intensity that it caused a faint rippling of the air.

The Emperor rose to his feet, and the durasteel doors swung shut behind Scourge with a booming crash. Scourge’s step faltered briefly at the sound, but he continued forward.

As he reached the foot of the pedestal he dropped to one knee, bowing low, his eyes focused on a spot on the ground in front of him.

“Rise, Lord Scourge,” the Emperor told him, “and speak your piece.”

Scourge stood up to address the Sith looming above him. The Emperor had thrown back his hood to reveal his face; his eyes were as black as the Void itself.

Staring into the hollow darkness of the Emperor’s gaze, Scourge’s mind flashed back to Nathema, and he shivered at the memory.

He tried to speak, but the words stuck in his throat. His mouth was suddenly so dry he felt as if he might choke. He swallowed hard and coughed, finally bringing up enough saliva to talk.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Revan)

Revan's feelings prior to his second confrontation with Tenebrae (Sith Emperor):

As they drew closer to the throne room, Revan’s thoughts drifted back to his last confrontation with the Emperor. In all his battles, he had never faced an enemy with that kind of power. The dark side had radiated from him in palpable waves, his physical shell barely able to contain the crackling energy.

In their last meeting he had overwhelmed Revan completely; it wasn’t even fair to call it a battle. Revan had grown since then. He was far more powerful now, but was he a match for the Emperor?

Alone, probably not. With the combined strength of Meetra, Scourge, and even T3, however, he believed they stood a real chance of victory.

Despite this, he still felt a chill in his gut when he saw again the enormous durasteel doors of the throne room. They were shut, of course, but he knew all too well what lay beyond.

The aforementioned development (conquest of homeworld) occurred in following manner:

Tenebrae manifested his incredible Force powers at the age of six. His dark gift marked Tenebrae for a place of power in the Empire - but it also revealed his mother's betrayal. She tearfully confessed to her husband that Tenebrae was born from her infidelity with the Sith ruler of their homeworld. Enraged by this betrayal, Tenebrae's father attacked his unfaithful wife. 2) Tenebrae could tackle a strike team of powerful opponents in single combat. Examples provided below.

Example 1 - Tenebrae (Sith Emperor) overwhelmed a mighty Sith Strike Team led by Darth Lokess - representing an entire rebellious Dark Council - with Sith Sorcery.

During a violent tempest, Darth Lokess called a secret meeting of her eleven fellow Dark Council members. Under the cover of night, the Dark Council met and heard Darth Lokess describe a brilliant and daring plan to overthrow the Sith Emperor, end his relentless exile, and lead the Empire back to war against the Republic. An army of Sith under the command of Darth Lokess were stationed outside the meeting, ready to slay any Dark Council member who refused. But they all agreed to depose the Emperor.

It remains a mystery how the Emperor learned of his council's treachery.

A new council was immediately appointed to replace the traitors. The Emperor had made his point: his will was absolute, and none would oppose him. And though this was not the last time the council would defy the Emperor, his lesson would humble the Empire and its Sith leaders for centuries to come.

Example 2 - Tenebrae (Sith Emperor) subdued the duo of legendary warriors Revan and Malak with barely an effort.

Example 3 - Tenebrae (Sith Emperor) summoned 9 members of another rebellious Dark Council to his throne room and killed them; Sith Lord Scourge somehow learned about this development and shared details with his allies.

Example 4 - Tenebrae (Sith Emperor) overwhelmed a powerful Jedi Strike Team that attempted to arrest him during a war.

Tenebrae (Sith Emperor) was capable of defeating the Strike Team comprising of Revan, Meetra (the legendary Jedi Exile) and Lord Scourge (centuries before his most strongest incarnation) but this confrontation did not materialize.

Scourge had eagerly accepted, knowing his new position would give him both time and opportunity to find another way to stop Emperor Vitiate before his madness and hunger consumed the galaxy.

"Open yourself to the dark side," the Emperor said, and Scourge felt the air around him begin to swirl with power.

Betraying his allies had not altered the inevitable outcome; the Emperor would have won regardless. At least this way Scourge was still alive to carry on their cause.

to stand and flee, but his crippled limbs wouldn’t support his weight. All he could do was crawl on his belly like a worm.

His efforts drew the attention of the Emperor, who didn’t speak but came over and lowered himself to one knee. He grabbed Scourge by the

shoulder and rolled him over so he was staring up into the twin voids of the Emperor’s eyes.

As he reached out a hand and placed it on Scourge’s forehead, the Sith began to scream.

KNOWN POWERS:

"You say you know me -- if that is true, then you know the depths of my power. Whatever you hoped to achieve here, you know-deep-inside -- that you cannot succeed." - Tenebrae (The Immortal Emperor)

Tenebrae is a supremely powerful Force-user, the master of Sith Sorcery and Dark Side powers in general; he possesses the ability to control, possess and consume other beings. But he is willing to explore even the Light Side of the Force when he deems it necessary. He have history of altering the environment of planet Dromund Kaas and ravaging planets Medriaas and Ziost to an extent that they were no longer suitable for hosting normal life. Some of his (known) abilities are listed below.

Transfer essence

Esoteric application

Tenebrae became a master of Transfer essence technique; his primary host is known as the Voice.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Encyclopedia)

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Codex Entry titled "Voice of the Emperor (Warrior).")

NOTE: Tenebrae rivals Abeloth in the use of this application.

Share essence

Esoteric application

Tenebrae pioneered the ability to share his essence with a large number of individuals at some point, transforming them into extensions of his will (known as Children) and embedded these individuals within the enemy ranks to serve as his eyes and ears across the galaxy (and more). Using this technique, Tenebrae expanded his singular presence across the breath of the galaxy with multiple individuals serving as its nodes.

&

For the rest of their lives, these unwitting pawns would serve as the eyes and ears of the Emperor. And should he desire their action, the Emperor could reach out and control them to enact his will. Thus the Children of the Emperor were born.

NOTE: No other Force-user demonstrated this ability to my knowledge.

Farsight

Tenebrae experienced a vision of Mandalorian Wars and dispatched an agent to convince the reigning Mandalore to attack the Republic.

"So did the Jedi. The Sith species vanished after the Great Hyperspace War. One of their kind hasn’t been seen in Republic space in over a thousand years. But this red-skinned being came to Mandalore. He claimed to be the emissary of a powerful Master—a descendant of the Sith Lord who had driven Dramath into exile—and convinced Mandalore to help him search for his enemy's tomb."

Revan was speaking slowly, the words coming out only as fast as the details came into focus. His recollections were still hazy and jumbled. The original time and place of each specific memory was unclear. Mandalore had told him some of this. Other details had come from the datacron in the tomb. Most of it he had learned much later, after he and Malak had journeyed into the Unknown Regions themselves.

It was impossible to sort it all out. Out of necessity, his damaged mind had collapsed his memories into one another, merging them into a semicoherent whole as he'd slept.

"Mandalore helped the Sith find Dramath's hidden crypt," he continued. "The Sith took the remains to give to his Master, and in exchange he told Mandalore of a vision his Master had had of the Mandalorians rising up against the Republic. He told him they would conquer world after world, crushing their enemies until the Republic collapsed in on itself. He promised the Mandalorians a glorious victory, and Mandalore believed him."

"Mandalore the Ultimate wouldn't lead us into war against the Republic just because some stranger told him we'd win," Canderous protested.

"It's more complicated than that. The Sith used the power of the dark side to manipulate him. Only as Mandalore lay dying at my feet was the spell finally broken and he realized he’d been tricked. That was why he told me about this place. So I could come and see for myself."

"This doesn't make any sense," Canderous said. "You say the Sith tricked Mandalore into attacking the Republic. But why?"

"I don't know," Revan admitted. "Maybe it was a test of your strength. Or ours. Maybe the Sith are planning another invasion, and they sought to weaken the Republic."

Alter environment

Esoteric application

Tenebrae became a master of Alter environment application. He made extensive use of this talent to alter the environment of planet Dromund Kaas; he created a powerful nexus of Dark Side energy on the planet and corrupted its atmosphere to the extent that it never recovered.

As a reminder;

Reality Warping

Esoteric application

Tenebrae's powers grew to the extent that he offered the Outlander opportunities to manipulate reality in dire situations while residing in the latter's mind.

"Reality Warping – The ability to change or manipulate reality itself. Reality Warping is also known as Actuality Manipulation, Essokinesis, Objective Reality Distortion, Reality Adjustment, Reality Alteration, Reality Bending, Reality Control, Reality Distortion, Reality Manipulation, Reality Overwriting and Self-Wish Granting." - information in this link.

Flow-walking

Esoteric applications

Tenebrae became a master of Flow-walking application. He used this ability to make the Outlander aware of numerous developments across the galaxy while the latter was in carbonite freezing.

Footage of a lengthy Flow-walking session below:

Force Drain

Tenebrae became a master of Force Drain and similar applications. He have history of siphoning life-force of countless individuals to fuel his power and perform this feat irrespective of the distance factor. Moreover, he have demonstrated some of the greatest and most complex expressions of Force Drain in history.

Example 1 [standard application] - Tenebrae (Sith Emperor) siphoned life-force of a large number of individuals to fuel his power and satiate his hunger. He could siphon the life-force of his subjects from even lightyears distance as apparent from the example of Revan and the fact that he would dispatch his Hands to distant parts of the galaxy for important missions from time-to-time.

Servants of the Hand share their Master's longevity, living untouched by age for centuries under his command. In return, the Emperor draws on his servant's strength in the Force and body to feed his ever-increasing power, leaving the servants withered and frail.

Teleportation

Esoteric application

Tenebrae (Vitiate) demonstrated the ability to teleport himself to other locations, and could traverse lightyears distances in the process. For example, he teleported from planet Yavin Four to planet Ziost. Moreover, his teleportation effort literally shook the ground and its residual emission not only temporarily blinded everybody in the immediate surroundings below but inflicted massive casualties on the forces stationed nearby.

Force lightning

Tenebrae became a master of Force lightning application. He could unleash a swirling storm of lightning bolts of extraordinary intensity and scale, and have felled many foes with this power alone. Examples provided below.

Example 1 - Tenebrae (Sith Emperor) mortally wounded Revan with a swirling storm of lightning bolts. Worst would have happened, if T3-M4 droid have not intervened.

Revan knew he was gathering his power to unleash a swirling storm of pure dark side energy, just as Nyriss had done. The Jedi quickly calculated his options. Realizing he couldn’t close the gap between them quickly enough to stop the assault, he gathered his own energy and spread his hands before him, ready to catch and absorb the Emperor’s attack.

A dozen bolts of purple lightning arced from the Emperor toward him. Revan tried to draw them in and contain them, but the Emperor was infinitely more powerful than Darth Nyriss had ever been.

Revan's body was engulfed in agony as the electricity coursed through his body. His skin began to boil and blister, the flesh of his face melting and sticking to the superheated metal of his mask as the Emperor poured more and more power into him.

Through the haze of indescribable pain, he saw T3-M4 rushing in to help him. The droid let loose with his flamethrower, bathing the Emperor in fire. At the last instant the Emperor cocooned himself in the Force to save himself from being incinerated, breaking his focus on Revan.

Example 5 - Tenebrae (The Immortal Emperor) knocked out Arcann with the Dark blast.

Sever Force

Esoteric application

Tenebrae demonstrated the ability to affect and/or sever the connection of another Force-user with the Force with barely an effort, long before his prime.

Lord Dramath intended to judge the child’s power to determine if he was worthy of serving the Sith Lord, or if he should simply be executed. But Tenebrae had no intention of serving—or of dying. From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Revan)

Telepathy

Tenebrae became a master of telepathic powers. Example 5 - Tenebrae (Vitiate), using Master Surro as a host, lifted a group of individuals from the ground and cast them aside with the exception of one (in red armor), keeping him suspended in the air throughout the ordeal, only to strike him down in the next moment. This is also a demonstration of multi-tasking with telekinetic powers, a rare occurrence.

NOTE: The female, among the targets, was a Sith.

Example 6: Tenebrae (Vitiate), using Master Surro as a host, sent Lana Beniko crashing into a wall, knocking her unconscious for a while.

Example 7: Tenebrae (as an apparition of Valkorion) ragdolled and pinned the Outlander to a rocky formation against his will.

Force concealment

Esoteric application

Tenebrae (Sith Emperor) became a master of Force concealment application. He created First Son (a powerful manifestation of his essence) in Jedi Master Syo Bakarn, and used this vessel to perform Force concealment on galactic scale to shield all of his Children from detection by enemies including from the entire Jedi Order itself.

The Sith Emperor seeks to shape all things to his will. His Children, individuals infused with part of his being, have been scattered throughout the Republic, knowingly–or unknowingly–manipulating events to the Emperor's advantage over the years. Above them all is the First Son of the Emperor, a master strategist placed within the Jedi Council itself. Cloaked in the identity of Master Syo Bakarn, the First Son has been hiding the Children from the Jedi for decades, playing a long game with the Republic. His actions suggest a man possessing remarkable patience, ruthlessness and power. However, as Sophia Farash claimed, Master Syo has been unaware of the First Son’s existence–suggesting he and the First Son are two separate personas.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Codex Entry titled "The First Son (Consular)")

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Encyclopedia)

Centuries later, Tenebrae's proficiency in the Force concealment application would come in handy once again during the course of his exploits on Ziost. Refer to information in the companion blog titled "Cataclysm of planet Ziost."

Force blast

Esoteric application

Tenebrae could unleash a Force blast with bare hands. Evidence in this link: https://torcommunity.com/database/ability/HeGTB7B/force+blast/?#tab-details

For example; Tenebrae (as an apparition of Valkorion) unleashed a Force blast on Arcann through the body of the Outlander in a confrontation, sending him packing off the platform.

NOTE: For comparison, Exar Kun, one of the most powerful Sith Lords in history, could unleash a Force blast (only) through the use of a powerful amulet.

Force bond

Tenebrae bonded with his Imperial Guard and could bolster their defensive abilities.

On his last visit to Dromund Kaas, he and Malak had learned everything they could about the Imperial Guard. Though not attuned to the Force in the classical sense, the elite soldiers had a connection with the Emperor, allowing them to draw strength from the dark side. They were formidable opponents, even for a Jedi.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Revan)

Force suppression

Esoteric application

Tenebrae demonstrated the ability to suppress powers of another Force-user.

Her father's control curbed her tendencies toward violence and anarchy, but beneath her upbeat and lighthearted exterior lurked a restless hunter, hungry and ambitious. When most of the Emperor's power was locked away on Yavin 4, he was no longer able to hide Vaylin's strength from her, and she finally got a taste of her full capabilities.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Knights of the Fallen Empire: Codex entry titled "Vaylin.")

Defensive applications

Tenebrae became a master of defensive applications of the Force. Examples of some of his defensive acts provided below.

Example 1 - Tenebrae (Sith Emperor) cocooned himself with the Force to thwart the burning effects of a flame-thrower.

The droid let loose with his flamethrower, bathing the Emperor in fire. At the last instant the Emperor cocooned himself in the Force to save himself from being incinerated, breaking his focus on Revan.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Revan)

Example 2 - Tenebrae (Sith Emperor) conjured a Protection bubble during a confrontation.

Example 3 [esoteric application] - Tenebrae (The Immortal Emperor) demonstrated the ability to repel Lightsaber strikes with bear hands at point blank range with barely an effort. This might be an advanced technique of Force Deflection.

Sith sorcery

Esoteric applications

Tenebrae became a master of Sith Sorcery and utilized such talents to overcome extreme challenges at times.

For example; Tenebrae (Sith Emperor) used a mysterious technique to overwhelm a mighty Sith Strike Team led by Darth Lokess - representing a rebellious Dark Council - from afar.

As a reminder;

From Star Wars: The Old Republic: Encyclopedia

Force-sensitivity manipulation

Esoteric application

Tenebrae demonstrated the ability to alter the Force-sensitivity of another Force-user. For example, he (as an apparition of Valkorion) enhanced the Force-sensitivity of the Outlander to make him strong enough to challenge powerful Force-users such as Arcann and Vaylin in single combat. On the flip side, Tenebrae was preparing the Outlander's body to house his presence for long-term basis by enhancing its Force-sensitivity.

"Valkorion strengthened your bond to the Force." - Satele Shan

After undergoing the aforementioned transformation, the Outlander felt greater attunement to the Force and began to experience powerful visions as a consequence.

"A bond to the Force as intense as yours brings with it powerful insight." - Satele Shan

NOTE: The aforementioned example does not represents the first case of Tenebrae preparing an individual to use as a host to house his intangible presence for long-term basis after enhancing its connection with the Force. Further revelation below.

"I found Valkorion centuries ago. He was a great warrior. A champion of ancient Zakuul. It was only natural I hollow him out to use as my vessel." - Tenebrae (as an apparition of Valkorion)

----------------------------------

MULTI-TASKING with FORCE POWERS to EXTREME LEVELS:

Tenebrae demonstrated the ability to multi-task with his powers over a lengthy span of time, and in extreme ways. Refer to THE NATHEMA CONSPIRACY part above; Tenebrae prevented ECOLOGICAL RECOVERY of the post-apocalypse Medriaas for over 1300 years while partaking in other (demanding) set-of-activities irrespective of his location. This reality sheds new light on how to gauge his powers.

Example 1 - Tenebrae (Sith Emperor) used his powers to expand his footprint across the Galaxy by creating his powerbase (an organic network of agents bind to him who served as his set of eyes and ears in distant locations, and do his bidding upon his command). Tenebrae (Sith Emperor) also possessed other beings and utilized many as his Voice(s), and could influence the fighting prowess of his Imperial Guards from time-to-time. This showing implies simultaneous use of numerous Force powers at any point in time (refer to KNOWN POWERS section above).

As a reminder;

THE EMPEROR fears only death. It was this dread that inspired the Emperor to possess beings to serve as the Voice and the Hand, the former to speak his will and the latter to serve as conduits through which he could control his Empire. To extent his reach and sight, the Emperor created his Children through which he could see and act on whim. For those who displeased him, the Emperor shaped the Wrath - the ultimate executioner, who lived only to strike down enemies of the Emperor and humble the galaxy. Finally, he forged the Imperial Guard as an army of devoted warriors, tasked with overwhelming the Emperor's foes and protecting his domain. With this power base, the Emperor seeks to shield himself from the dangers of mortality and make the galaxy before him.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Encyclopedia)

Example 2 - On planet Ziost, Tenebrae (Vitiate) possessed countless individuals, utilized them for violent ends, and was able to fuel his strength from their deaths (he had been deliberately causing). This showing implies simultaneous application of Telepathic powers and Force Drain powers.

As a reminder;

Obsessed with achieving immortality, the Sith Emperor has targeted his own former subjects on the planet Ziost, with every death seemingly extending his dark power. Speaking through those he’s possessed, he controls powerful pawns like Master Surro, the leader of a team of elite militarized Jedi known as the Sixth Line.

Taken from (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Rise of the Emperor)

In connection with Example 2, Tenebrae (Vitiate) was able to incorporate Telekinetic powers in his already complex set of actions. For instance, through Master Surro, Tenebrae (Vitiate) lifted a group of individuals from the ground and cast them aside with the exception of one (in red armor), keeping him suspended in the air throughout the ordeal, only to strike him down in the next moment. This is a clear demonstration of multi-tasking with telekinetic powers besides other activities.

As a reminder;

Example 3 - Tenebrae (Valkorion) SHIELDED the Outlander, and his allies, from the harmful effects of Medriaas (Nathema) while the Outlander, and his allies, were exploring this world for certain answers. This is ironic in the light of Tenebrae preventing ECOLOGICAL RECOVERY of the post-apocalypse Medriaas for over 1300 years, and also during the course of this event.

Emphasis mine. It is safe to assert that Tenebrae was able to wield the Force in ways no known mortals of the galaxy could, in similar vein to The Ones.

----------------------------------

SITH ALCHEMY and/or NOTABLE CREATIONS:

Tenebrae was proficient in the matters of Sith Alchemy; he demonstrated the ability to create deadly Sithspawn (e.g. Akure) and also constructed arcane devices which could be used to prolong the life of his subjects for indefinite period. At a much later stage, as he grew in power, he was able to create virtually immortal beings of pure Dark Side energy with sheer force of will on Ziost (e.g. Monoliths).

PERVERTING A HOLOCRON

Tenebrae (original) - at the age of 10 - was able to transform the holocron of Lord Drammath into a superweapon that could be utilized to capture or obliterate spirits of Sith and Jedi.

All holocrons are based on a complex yet elegant technology: a lattice of organic crystals woven together at a microscopic level. The crystal lattice can store vast amounts of information, as well as replicate the appearance and personality of the holocron's creator as a gatekeeper who will guide students in their training.

In his youth, Valkorion--then known as Tenebrae--discovered a way to twist and pervert the lattice so it could capture the spirit of powerful Force users, locking them in a metaphysical cage. He used the weapon on Dramath, his tyrannical father, and trapped him inside the holocron for centuries.

But the same corrupted technology Valkorion used to vanquish his father could also be turned against him, permanently imprisoning his immortal spirit... or obliterating it from existence.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Codex Entry titled "Dramath's Holocron.")

AKURE

Tenebrae (Sith Emperor) created a powerful Sithspawn known as Akure on planet Dromund Kaas.

While some Sithspawns are forged in great numbers, others are created as singular abominations. One such dark side manifestation was birthed centuries ago by the Sith Emperor. Known as Akure, the Beast of Darkness, this Sithspawn rules the deep carverns of Dromund Kaas and kills all who try to end its existence.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Encyclopedia)

&

For hundreds of years, Dromund Kaas has been cloaked in an impenetrable night and thrashing storms supposedly caused by the power of the Emperor himself. But these are merely the most conspicuous manifestations of his legendary influence on the Imperial homeworld. Deep in the bowels of Dromund Kaas, another manifestation has been growing–a creature born far underground, a Sithspawn that has supped on the dark side for decades. For now, the beast remains lurking in the darkness, but its hunger is eternal and it is always, always growing.

ARCANE DEVICES

Tenebrae (Sith Emperor) created some arcane devices which could be used to prolong the life of his subjects for indefinite period.

Example 1: Infernal Machinery in the Emperor's private chamber in the Citadel (Kaas City)

“THE RITUAL IS ABOUT TO BEGIN,” the Emperor intoned.

Scourge nodded, though even if he had wanted to refuse it was far too late now.

He was standing in the center of a cylindrical metal platform roughly two meters across. Dozens of wires and IV tubes had been hooked to his body. The wires were connected to several generators arranged in a circle around the platform, the IV tubes ran to clear vats filled with a strange green bubbling liquid.

They were still inside the citadel, but this private chamber was much smaller than the throne room. It was unfurnished and, apart from the Emperor, Scourge, and the infernal machinery he was hooked up to, completely empty.

In the wake of Revan’s defeat, the Emperor hadn’t made him a member of the Dark Council after all. Instead, he had created a new position for Scourge: the Emperor’s Wrath.

The Emperor had believed his explanation about Revan. As a reward Scourge was to become his personal enforcer and executioner, taking his orders directly from the Emperor and answering to no one but him.

That wasn’t the full extent of his reward, however. For his role in exposing Xedrix, Nyriss, and Revan, the Emperor had promised to grant Scourge the gift of eternal life. He would forever serve at the Emperor’s side, an honor far greater than even that of being selected for the Dark Council.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Revan)

Example 2: Revan's Cell in the Maelstrom Prison

REVAN’S CELL WAS AS MUCH LABORATORY AS PRISON. Trapped in a suspended cage of shimmering power, he hovered somewhere between life and death. His paralyzed body was in some kind of stasis, preserved and protected so that even time itself could not touch him. But his consciousness was fully aware.

Meetra could sense his suffering. When she had died, she had not become one with the Force. Loyal to the end, her spirit had remained with Revan, an invisible presence hovering just outside his cell.

She couldn’t speak with him; whatever arcane Sith sorcery the Emperor had used to bind Revan in his cell made that impossible. She doubted Revan was even aware she was there. Yet even though she couldn’t communicate with him, she was able to offer aid and support, her power trickling through the energy barrier that surrounded him, a lifeline he could cling to in the dark ocean of his imprisonment.

As the Emperor fed off him, Meetra was allowing Revan to feed off her. Her sustenance strengthened his resolve whenever he grew weak, refreshing and restoring him so he could continue his never-ending mental war.

Because of her, Revan was able to do more than just fight to keep the Emperor at bay.

MONOLITHS

Tenebrae (Vitiate) created incredibly powerful monstrosities known as Monoliths on planet Ziost with sheer force of will.

BALANCE OF THE FORCE:

Force-users influence the balance of the Force more then anything else.

More than any others, it is the Force-sensitive beings of the galaxy who have the greatest influence upon the balance of the Force.

From (Star Wars: Force and Destiny)

The balance of the Force would shift depending upon the actions of the Force-users throughout galactic history.

For this reason, some believe that the Jedi and Sith must share an ultimately common origin, and their creation in the distant past embodies the opposition between the light and dark sides. As their relative power has increased or diminished over the centuries, it has only reinforced another deeply held belief about the Force: that it has a balance, and that this balance can shift over time.

From (Star Wars: Force and Destiny)

-----

The Force was omnipresent. It radiated stronger in certain places and at certain times, and the balance of the dark side and the light constantly shifted.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Revan)

Revan singled out Tenebrae (Sith Emperor) as the FOREMOST source of imbalance in his time, and postulated that champions of light will continue to emerge to oppose him until he is defeated.

“The Force always strives for balance. The Emperor is an agent of darkness and destruction. It is inevitable that a champion of the light will one day rise to oppose him. I may be that champion.”

From (Revan, Star Wars: The Old Republic: Revan)

Tenebrae created a rend in the fabric of the Cosmic Force around planet Medriaas with his experiments on its surface back in 4999 BBY:

He felt the first hints of what was waiting for him when the shuttle dropped out of hyperspace. Through the windows of the cockpit he saw a gray-and-brown planet looming large before them. Gazing at it, he felt something strange and unsettling. Something unnatural.

It took him several moments to realize what was wrong, and even when he did, he didn’t fully grasp the implications. He wasn’t feeling the Force.

The sensation was completely alien. The Force was omnipresent. It radiated stronger in certain places and at certain times, and the balance of the dark side and the light constantly shifted. But it was always there in some way, shape, or form.

Now, however, he felt nothing. He had become so accustomed to the presence of the Force in the background that its complete absence was almost overwhelming, leaving him unable to speak.

“Prepare yourself,” Nyriss said. “We’re going down to the surface.”

The absence grew steadily more pronounced as the shuttle approached and then landed on Nathema.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Revan)

- and prevented its HEALING for over 1300 years while partaking in other (demanding) set-of-activities irrespective of his location. Refer to THE NATHEMA CONSPIRACY part above. This rend represented the largest nexus of Dark Side energy that galaxy would ever see.

As a reminder;

Lord Vitiate orchestrated the sorcery and the planet Mediraas was consumed by the largest dark side nexus the galaxy would ever see.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Encyclopedia)

---

Tenebrae (Sith Emperor) siphoned the life-force of many individuals during his span of existence, affecting the development of the Living Force through such individuals and also their ability to use the Force.

The Force consists of two related, but distinct, elements: the Living Force and the Cosmic Force. The Living Force is generated by the energy of living beings throughout the galaxy. This is the Force at its most immediate and instinctive level. It is this aspect of the Force that allows for many of the impressive abilities that have fueled the aura of legend around the Jedi and Sith, and that still excites the galaxy's imagination. The ability to trick the minds of other beings, to sense their presence, and to manipulate physical objects all come from the Living Force.

From (Star Wars: Force and Destiny - Core Rulebook)

As a reminder;

In return, the Emperor draws on his servant's strength in the Force and body to feed his ever-increasing power, leaving the servants withered and frail.
