Time for the comic purge!!

Throughout the day I have been bagging and boarding stacks of comics I have purchased the last couple months and realized I have been collecting way too many Marvel titles. I am a huge Marvel fanboy so majority of my comics are from that company but I do collect a few DC titles. The downstairs bedroom has stacks of issues on the desk, entertainment center and floor....talk about clutter. Comics today are so expensive and I definitely need to cut down my list for economics sake! I decided to stop my DC titles and some other Marvel titles like Avenging Spider-Man, X-Force, New Mutants, Punisher, Ghost Rider and others. I would like to cut my list to 10 Marvel titles or less because it would definitely save me more $$$ and space. The problem is that I am such a huge comic nerd and very impulsive when it come to various purchases. Well desperate times require desperate actions so let the comic purging begin!!

Any of you guys ever had to deal with something like this? If so, what did you guys do or any advice you recommend?

I'm too broke to have more than 20-something issues and 4 trades. And I don't buy regularly, so I don't have to worry about clutter.

Well, if you are currently picking them up, don't drop Amazing Spiderman, Fantastic Four, Daredevil, or Captain America. And if you ask me, DC is actually putting out better quality comics that you may want to check out. Out of that company, Batman, Batman and Robin, Nightwing, Aquaman, Earth 2, and Animal Man are highly recommended.

Out of the Marvel titles you mentioned, I will still collect Daredevil, Amazing Spider-Man and Captain America but Fantastic Four is a title I dropped a few months ago. In regards to DC, I was just collecting Justice League of America, Justice League International and Dark Knight Batman but decided to drop those titles as well. I bet the other DC titles you mention are great but I would just go overboard if I got more into DC.

I currently collect the Avengers titles, X-Men titles, Hulk, Venom, Thunderbolts and Scarlet Spider but may end up dropping some of those as well. I am really enjoying the Venom series right now with the current Savage Six storyline because what they are doing with the villains in that group. The problem too is that I am a sucker for those Marvel events including the Avengers vs X-Men titles. Last comic book Wednesday, I spent around $50 and that is getting way too expensive so that is why I need to do the purge.
